Nomar is a free agent on Monday if (when) the Cubs don't make the playoffs. Why do I have a bad feeling that tis will be the Yankees infield next year?
1B Giambi 2B Garciaparra 3B Rodriguez SS Jeter |
Do you think that Garciaparra would accept being a 2B though? This is what I think will happen...
45% Stay with the Cubs 20% Go to the Dodgers 15% Go to the Angels 10% Go back to the Red Sox 10% Go to Yankees or other team That is somewhat educated, but not really |
I think the chances are much slimmer than 45% of staying with the Cubs. I would not be surprised to see him in a Giant, Mariner or White Sox uniform next year, all 3 desperately need a shortstop. I don't know where you got Dodgers/Angels/Red Sox from, Eckstein, Izturis, and Cabrera are all solidifed.
|
Well, Nomar is from So Cal, so if he wants to go back, I'm sure the Dodgers or Angels will consider it, but I agree both infields are pretty solid already. I'd see him going to the Angels right now over the Dodgers, if that happened since eckstein and kennedy aren't "that" great.
And its not Cabrera, its Cora. :p |
No, it's Cabrera. He plays for the Red Sox. I already said the Dodgers shortstop, Cesar Izturis. Alex Cora plays second base.
|
So what do you guys think the potential playoff teams starting roations will be?
Yankees 1. Mussina 2. Hernandez 4. Brown 5. Vazquez Red Sox 1. Schilling 2. Martinez 3. Lowe 4. Wakefield Twins 1. Santana 2. Radke 3. Lohse A's 1. Hudson 2. Harden 3. Zito 4. Mulder Angels 1. Escobar 2. Colon 3. Washburn Braves 1. Wright 2. Thomson 3. Hampton 4. Ortiz Cardinals 1. Carpenter 2. Suppan 3. Morris 4. Williams Dodgers 1. Weaver 2. Lima 3. Ishii 4. Perez Giants 1. Schmidt 2. Reuter 3. Lowry Astros 1. Clemens 2. Oswalt 3. Hernandez? |

I heard the A's would be throwing Harden, Redman and then Hudson in that order because of the schedule.
heard it on ESPN this morning. Tim Kirkjun (SP) said it. |

Just found out Carpenter is out for the first round. Put Marquis in there instead.
|
Should the Twins go old school with Santana and have him go 1,3, and 5 (if played) He could be like Matthewson a la 1905.
|
LETS GO ATHLETICS!!!!!!!!!
|
Jesus Christ. Bonds has a .608 OBP. Unreal. I didn't even realize it was that high.
|
The Twins are using Silva as the #3 guy because he has been pretty hot lately. I assume Lohse is just long relief.

I think he stays in Chicago... it's a perfect fit... he's a whiney bitch on a team of whiney bitches... come'on, this is the guy who thought the groundscrew at fenway was conspiring against him and this is a team, that got upset because there tv announcers said the other pithcer was throwing a great game. Chicago cubs need a team shrink. |
FYI, you're both wrong on the Red Sox rotation.
It will be. Schilling Martinez Wakefield or Arroyo Arroyo or Wakefield At least according to the sox site and Francona, Lowe is going to the Pen for the ALDS, could change for the ALCS, but I wouldn't count on it. Personally I question even putting Lowe on the playoff roster. Gammons said the other day the way the Astros games fall, they could pitch Clemens/Oswalt for all 5 games... Remember a few years ago when SD went to the WS and Kevin Brown pitched like every other game? Anyway, begining of the year I got a Clemens and Schilling jersey and called an Astros/Red Sox WS... still got some hope there! |

Everything I hear and read from the Cubs they just seem like a bunch of whiners. Didn't they try banning the media from the lockeroom? |
It;s funny how you're still bitter over Nomar leaving. Kevin Millar, who seemed to be the leader of the team last year, is a huge redneck. So are Trot "Props to Jesus for that Walk off Homer" Nixon and Tim Wakefield. A Red Sox fan calling ANYBODY a whiner might be the most ironic thing I have ever heard.
|
Yash, I hope you know the Red Sox could face the Twins if the Twins sweep the Tribe and wind up with a better record then the A's/Angles. It was on ESPN this morning.
|
I know that
but the Yankees certainly helped us out |
LETS GO CLEVELAND

Miz, it would be great if you knew what you were talking about.... I was going to try and clue you in, but instead... I'll let you explain and maybe show you have an idea of what you're saying. 1) How am I bitter over Nomar leaving? 2) Did Nomar leave or was he traded? 3) Any idea where Millar grew up? 4) Any idea how the "Cowboy up" phrase started? 5) Does being very religious and having a strong belief in Jesus automaticly make you a Redneck? 6) What is your definiton of a "Huge Redneck" 7) What's ironic about a sox fan calling "ANYBODY" a whiner? Answering these will save me some time in educating, so I know exactly where you need help. |

1. You manage to turn every baseball discussion into an attack on Nomar.
2. He was traded, that doesn't stop you from your "Nomar wanted out" and "Team cancer" hissyfits 3. Los Angeles, California to my knowedge. You don't think there are hicks out there? I used to live in Oakland, there are rednecks all over California. 4. No and I don't give a shit. 5. No, but Trot Nixon is one of the many people who is a Jesus Freak and a redneck. 6. I don't have one. What the hell does that have to do with anything? 7. "The Yankees buy championships  " when the Red Sox have the 2nd highest payroll in the league. If the Red Sox lose, it's never their fault, it's always the Yankees fault. |
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Walk off grand slam by Finley to win the NL WEST!!!!!!!!

Did Oakland win today? Cubs choked

Dodgers Win! Angels Win! Giants Lose! A's Lose! LONG LIVE SO CAL!

|
I think Nomar will go to the Giants
|
I honestly think he will stay with the Cubs
|
I really have no idea. I just think for some reason he will end up on the Giants. They could really use him plus that whole "Cali" thing I hear about all the time. I don't know though, I have never heard Nomar say he ever wanted to play in Cali, everyone just assumes it. Nomar is still one of my favorite players, I am not gonna be a bitch like a lot of other Red Sox fans and believe and the BS and hate Nomar or something.
|
Well the Giants don't really fit into the whole "Cali thing" because he was from the LA area if I'm not mistaken. SoCal and NoCal are pretty different. I'm not saying the Giants have no chance or aren't going for him, but I think what people refer to is the Dodgers and Angels.
|
Yea that's true. Its still closer then most places though.
Like I said before that might not even be a factor at all, everyone assumes it is but I am starting to doubt it. I just think SF will pick him up, or maybe even the White Sox, but for some reason I don't see him saying with the Cubs. |
I can't see the White Sox doing that. They only pick up guys that have no chance of helping them, for example Roberto Alomar and Carl Everett two years in a row. They looked like they were getting somewhere with Freddy Garcia...but nah...
|
Also, I can't see the Cubs losing a contract duel with their cross town rivals. I guess there are plenty of shortstops on the market this year, but they probably aren't going to get a guy better than Noma.
|
If Nomar goes to the White Sux, I hope he dies. :)
|
Me too
|
Ahh, Miz, Miz, Miz... really... normally you know what you're talking about... but let me try and help ya out here...
Quote:
Really Miz, I think you need to stick to things that you know about, this clearly isn't one of them. I mean, I'm sorry if nomar is your fav player and you sleep w/ his card under your pillow, or your a yankees fan who's afraid you might actually lose a playoff series to the Sox... but it's only a game, life does go on. Nomar has talent, no question about that, when healthy he's a top 5, maybe even top 3 SS in the league. That being said, over the last few seasons he was a selfish player and the Sox did the right thing and got a good deal by trading him. The man is a whiner and paranoid, which I'm thinking the paranoid may somehow be tied to obsesive compulsive, but I don't know enough about the disorder to say that for sure. The cubs own media and fans are ripping the cubs, everyone from Baker who always gets accused of burning out his arms, Sosa who keeps shrinking and hitting less home runs, Nomar who missed key games in the stretch run... plus their whining... Jesus, go out and play and win, that's how you shut people up. |
Quote:
I don't follow the NL closely, but what's the SS situation in SD? That might be a good fit for him. |
Future Gold Glover Khalil Greene
|
LOL write an essay about it
|
O boy. Its set in the NL.
Cardinals vs Dodgers. Braves vs Astros. |
I would have liked the Cards and Dodgers to meet in the NLCS. Both should be good series' though.
|
I wished the fucking Cubs would of made the Wildcard
|
Did I read correctly on ESPN.com when they said the Yankees are facing Minnesota in the playoffs because the Twins "blew their home field advantage" with a split to Cleveland? I always thought it was the team with the best record against the wild card team, and the other two division leaders against each other. How is home field advantage determined?
|
:'( Giants :'(
Also, I think the Giants ARE planning on spending some more money this off season than usual - but I don't think they're in the market for Nomar (as great as it would be). The infield is already crowded (Feliz and Snow can't keep platooning), so there may be some internal movement first. Deivi Cruz was pretty money this year, but he's not in the long term plans. Feliz will probably start at third, with Alfonso possibly moving to Shortstop... But hopefully that won't happen - they should rid themselves of that shitty player. I heard the Giants were trying tog et Jermaine Dye, which doesn't make sense seeing as how they already have 203498 shitty role playing outfielders on the roster. But it's time to make some bold moves, i'm just waiting to see if they're the right ones. :'( Giants :'( |
Also, I hate every single NL team in the playoffs this year, and I strongly dislike most of the AL teams in the playoffs this year.
Go Boston. |
I expect Beane to make a shitload of moves for Oakland in the offseasom. These guys are definately gone:
Jermaine Dye Mark Redman Mark McLemore Jim Mecir Bobby Kielty |
Angels have the homefield advantage even though the Sox have a better record lol
|
I just want Sox/Yanks again. That should be the World Series match up. It should just end there.

Hey Hero, Remember before the season we disagreed on Vazquez, I called him a NL pitcher who wouldn't do as well in the AL, you disagreed...
here's his stats... who was right? I do remember us having that discussing...Well he's way better than his numbers showed this year. I don't know what to say about him. Big stage maybe? 'another weaver' But yeah, until he rebounds next year 'or whatever', you've got me.

In the NL, you normally face 8 hitters and a pitcher and a lot of NL teams are built on speed/defense and you tend to face 5-7 real "hitters". Where the AL, not just do you face a DH, but a DH is normally a .290+ 25HR+ type guy, so not just is it another hitter, it's a big power guy. That was what I based my prediction off of. Plus, if it's an pitcher going to the AL East, it's even worse because there going to have teams like Boston and/or NY to deal w/ a few times a year, plus other AL teams like Angels, Baltimore. |
