Dragon 10-17-2004 09:07 PM

I don't really agree with Sheffield just being some random guy now that hes on the Yankees and not having the same effect as if he were on a normal team. I would say he's had a pretty huge effect on them this year, he was basically carrying the offense and the team earlier in the season.

I'm by no means saying he isn't a great player or that he isn't having a great year. I just mean that he isn't the type of player, in character not in skill, that is a Yankee.

Why the hell is Giambi in there? He is the ultimate sellout, he changed his look personality, and his team for the big bucks. If you'll remember back to like 1998-2000, the A's were a wild bunch, led by the long haired, bearded, beer guzzling, fowlmouthed Jason Giambi. Now he's the just another clean cut minion of Steinbrenners army.

Can you expand on why you picked these guys, ESPECIALLY Ichiro and Byrnes?

Loose Cannon 10-17-2004 09:29 PM

lol at Dennis Leary.

And I agree with you BCWWF on how the Yankees aren't the same from the mid-late 90's pertaining to how they built their team.

I think the 98 Yankees are exactly how you build a Championship Team. Kind of like the 03 Marlins.

BCWWF 10-17-2004 09:53 PM

I randomly named a few guys who I think fit the Yankee's image more than Sheffield, Cairo, Lofton and company. I didn't say any of them were going to be Yankees, but why are you so confident that Eric Byrnes never ends up on the Yankees? They've lose Damon, Isringhausen, Giambi, Tejada, and Ramon Hernandez in recent years, I don't consider any of their players a lock to stay there forever.

Loose Cannon 10-17-2004 10:31 PM

A-ROD is my favorite player

Loose Cannon 10-17-2004 10:31 PM

LOL Damon threw the ball back and they threw it back again.

Azriel 10-17-2004 10:34 PM

2-0 Yankees baby. I must admit, I was one of the people who hated the idea A-Rod was coming to the Yanks since I heard these stories about his bad attitude and what not, but he's a pretty cool guy.

When did I say I was confident about Byrnes not becoming a Yankee.. I was asking why you considered him to fit the Yankee image.

Azriel 10-17-2004 11:37 PM

Stupid El Duque, 3-2 Boston

YOUR Hero 10-17-2004 11:57 PM

I think I just saw VEL at the Red Sox game. He was wearing a paperbag of his head and it said "Who's my Daddy" on it. Why do I think it was VEL? Cause the guy was fat and sweaty looking.

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 12:00 AM

Duque is the man.

Joe Buck is hillarious with some of his one liners.

Like last night they gave Jeter an error on a tough play and he goes "Omar Viquel must be keeping score."

Just now they showd Torre in the dugout grabbing a bat and Buck goes "Torre wants to hit." I know it sounds stupid, but it's one of those stupid lol's

Yea

RoXer 10-18-2004 12:11 AM

I think Joe Buck has to be one of my favorite play-by-play commentators.

"SLAMMALAMA *ding* DING DONG!!!!"

Innovator 10-18-2004 12:50 AM

hmmm, so Carlos Beltran is a free agent? bye bye Cairo

YOUR Hero 10-18-2004 12:55 AM

Isn't Soriano a free agent at the end of this year as well?

YOUR Hero 10-18-2004 12:56 AM

*next year(?)

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 01:05 AM

First, Beltran plays Center, not Cairo. So it has no effect on Cairo.

Second, NO. Soriano becomes a Free Agent after 2006.

Splaya 10-18-2004 01:32 AM

LC, Bases Loaded. David Ortiz

Splaya 10-18-2004 01:36 AM

DAmn it. That's ok though. Because if the Red sox can keep a game close tommorow (if they win game 4) then if Rivera has to come in for game 5, he will be so tired.

MoRcHeEbA 10-18-2004 01:52 AM

yeah cause riviera throwing one inning should just tucker him right out.

el fregadero 10-18-2004 01:57 AM

He threw two, but he still won't be tired if there actually is a game tomorrow.

Splaya 10-18-2004 02:06 AM

Yeah but he threw 39 pitches

Innovator 10-18-2004 02:10 AM

Bases Loaded, 2 outs, top of 11th, Bernie up

Splaya 10-18-2004 02:15 AM

This game is going on 5 hours

RoXer 10-18-2004 02:33 AM

KID SOX ARE TIED RIGHT NOW BUT I AINT SWEATIN IT!!

Innovator 10-18-2004 02:37 AM

RoXer 10-18-2004 02:41 AM

Splaya 10-18-2004 02:44 AM

Oh man, what a day and its just beginning

It's almost like a doubleheader now

Innovator 10-18-2004 02:46 AM

Both bullpens are gonna be hurting in 15 1/2 hours

Jerichoholic 10-18-2004 03:04 AM

Even though it is still 3-1.

I love Big Papi...lots.

Boondock Saint 10-18-2004 03:12 AM

Ortiz is the man.

Apprentice 10-18-2004 03:17 AM

I loved the fan who was holding that sign up that said "Greatest Comeback in History". Thats why I love Red Sox fans... so delusional, but thats what you want from a fan. Someone who never gives up hope even when things look the worst. Props to you Boston!

toxic rooster 10-18-2004 03:38 AM

I made my brother put 10 bucks on the Sox to win the world series

Maybe I should learn something about baseball first :$

Sweaty my ass... it was like 40 out... everyone thought I was nuts for not having more then a football jersey on..

finally about the 4th, I bought those hand warmer bags for my row... I used one some of the game, just to feel my finger tips.

Yashamaga 10-18-2004 08:12 AM

Pedro today, Schilling tommorow

hmmmm....don't buy those WS tickets yet Yankees fans

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 02:20 PM

FUCKIN SHIT. Screw Boston fans and their "We Believe" crap and their wearing Yankee hats. What is that shit? Wear your own god dam hats.

I hope we end this in NY. Quantrill you jackass.

lol No way Boston wins this series.

(though I am still rooting for them)

Splaya 10-18-2004 03:24 PM

Just read about schilling. Holy shit. But who would go if there was a game 7? Would it be Arroyo or Wakefield. Here's what I would do. I would start Derek Lowe, then when Lowe got tired, bring in Pedro, then Timlin, then Foulke.

it would be Arroyo to start most likely w/ Wake out of the pen.

There is a chance where Wake is the Knckleballer he could start... but that will also depend on what happens w/ curt on tuesday.

This all would require a win tonight.

No, the hats boston fans wear that look like a N/Y is a Y/H = "Yankee Hater"

Schilling had one on at a bruins game early in the season and everyone wigged out cause they thought he had on a Yankees hat, but he confirmed it was a Yankee Hater hat, Y/H not N/Y.

Champion of Europa 10-18-2004 05:28 PM

That was a hot game. I stayed up for the entire thing, and I'm at school right now, exhausted. I marked out hardcore because of Ortiz.

Cmon Sox. All I want is for the Sox to win this game, anything on top of that is gravy.

Evil Vito 10-18-2004 05:58 PM

I stayed up till the end of the 11th, and I was like, "Fuck, I'm not gonna get any sleep at this rate." (as at that point I was only gonna get, like, 4 hours of sleep). So I went to bed and then an inning later Ortiz blasts one out. :o

Fuckin' awesome game though.

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 06:44 PM

Alright, Fuck this game. Let's just get back to NY already. Can't stand this cheering anymore.

Innovator 10-18-2004 06:49 PM

seriously LC, the cheering is driving me fucking nuts

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 06:50 PM

The Red Sox remind me of a bunch of Frat guys. Frat guys who come up with really bad phrases.

MVP 10-18-2004 07:01 PM

 Mussina is going to crack under pressure.

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 07:16 PM

LOL at Sheffield's comments. They really are a bunch of characters.

MVP 10-18-2004 07:31 PM

Throwing a foul ball off a Yankee player's bat back into the field is pretty stupid. Hardcore Sox fans are just as bad, if not worse than hardcore Yankee fans.

RoXer 10-18-2004 07:56 PM

Again, Joe Buck is one of my favorite announcers

Joe Buck: "Varitek couldn't make anything happen from the left side of the plate, and now he can't make anything happen from the right...he's running out of options"

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 08:04 PM

LOL. YES

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 08:33 PM

JETER

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 08:34 PM

MR. CLUTCH

MVP 10-18-2004 08:35 PM

FUCK I knew we were screwed if Cairo got on base

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 08:35 PM

YEAH, hit another guy after they score on you. DICK

Dragon 10-18-2004 08:36 PM

Now Pedro hits A-Rod.

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 08:36 PM

BIGGEST DICK EVER.

Dragon 10-18-2004 08:36 PM

Crazy slide by Cairo, BTW.

MVP 10-18-2004 08:39 PM

Now Matsui is up with bases loaded....

Jerichoholic 10-18-2004 09:04 PM

Of course he is a dick.

All great pitchers pretty much are.

MVP 10-18-2004 09:06 PM

HOLY SHIT Bellhorn actually hit the ball.

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 09:06 PM

wow, you couldn't be more wrong there. Like, you're not even close with that comment.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-18-2004 09:10 PM

I think Cairo might have actaully been out but I dunno, one replay looked safe, another one looked like VTek got him with the tag right before he touched home.

Dragon 10-18-2004 09:12 PM

Yeah, it looked close when I first saw. The first replay actually looked like he was out, but the second one looked like he was safe. I dunno.

Dragon 10-18-2004 09:18 PM

Not really too confident in Gordon with the way he's been pitching.

Loose Cannon 10-18-2004 09:23 PM

6 OUTS LEFT. COME ON.

Dragon 10-18-2004 09:52 PM

I left for a few minutes and the score's 4-3 now, what happened?

Boondock Saint 10-18-2004 09:58 PM

Sweeeeeeet 4-4

Apprentice 10-18-2004 09:58 PM

Ortiz homered, millar walked, nixon singled.

MVP 10-18-2004 10:16 PM

Top of the order. C'monnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Sox

Gonzo 10-18-2004 10:17 PM

4-4..extra innings?

Dragon 10-18-2004 10:23 PM

Extra innings again. Top of the order coming up for the Yankees.

Gonzo 10-18-2004 10:27 PM

I want to see the Sox force a game 7.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-18-2004 10:34 PM

LOL@ Who's your dealer chant with Sheff up at bad

Boondock Saint 10-18-2004 10:37 PM

MVP 10-18-2004 10:41 PM

Apprentice 10-18-2004 11:21 PM

Mr. Ramirez with another great fielding play

Dragon 10-18-2004 11:31 PM

Ortiz running, LOL. He actually looked like he might have been safe though.

Jerichoholic 10-18-2004 11:31 PM

Running Papi was Awesome.

Especailly because he was safe.

Boondock Saint 10-18-2004 11:31 PM

WTF. Safe

MVP 10-18-2004 11:32 PM

Yeah really.

Apprentice 10-18-2004 11:36 PM

Which game will end first? ALCS or NLCS...

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-18-2004 11:39 PM

Damn Ortiz was safe

I just think the ump couldn't actually believe Ortiz stole a base, so he called him out

Boondock Saint 10-18-2004 11:42 PM

lol

Apprentice 10-18-2004 11:53 PM

props to brandon backe for having a no hitter till the 6th against the Cards. Two great games at the same time! and no room for football either.
