The E5 error count is at 4 in 5 games played at 3rd.

Evil Vito 04-10-2011 06:11 PM

Ugh, what a waste of a brilliant Chris Young outing today. Citi Field is a great fit for a flyball guy like him, the infielders could have taken a day off.

Same kind of game the Mets have found a way to lose the last few years. :-\ The good thing though is that within an hour of the game ending they DFA'ed Blaine Boyer and called up Jason Isringhausen. They also sent down Lucas Duda and called up Ryota Igarashi.

Alderson realized the pen was getting taxed and he immediately made moves, if Omar was still here it would have taken a week for him to change it up. Hopefully Igarashi is only up for a few days though and they can get another position player up cause 13 pitchers just feels like way too much.

Gertner 04-10-2011 06:56 PM

Wow did Jared Weaver ever destroy the Jays today. 15 k's. At least Jo Jo Reyes pitched well.

Damian Rey 04-10-2011 10:23 PM

Padres avoid a sweep and beat up on the Dodgers. Cameron Maybin hit a monster home run and followed that up with a triple. This kid is going to make the Marlins look like a bunch of morons for dealing him and only getting two middle relievers.

Ludwick also hit a monster home run. Hope that'll get him going.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-10-2011 11:11 PM

Sox finally on track. Beckett pitched like I haven't seen him in like two seasons. Two out of three against the Yankees and now it's for the Rays at home.

Emperor Smeat 04-10-2011 11:17 PM

:D great pitching game and win for Beckett. Almost the same amount of pitches thrown as his last start with the main difference being a lot less hits allowed and stretching it for 8 innings instead of barely 5 innings.

Sounds like that could have also been a command issue. Glad he's seemingly back on track, as they're going to need to him.

Hardkore Kidd J 04-11-2011 09:47 AM

I am fricken pissed. Last night was a chance at beating the Red Sox. How many innings did the Red Sox have people left on base? That's what makes me pissed we got out of trouble so many times and they still couldn't secure a win.

theregulator 04-11-2011 10:38 AM

goooooo red sox

Ermaximus 04-11-2011 11:02 AM

I swear it's like the Braves and the Pirates share a common win/loss record. When 1 loses, so does the other. Pathetic how much they both blow leads.

Boomer 04-11-2011 03:29 PM

The Braves haven't had leads to blow. Their offense blows though. So much good pitching wasted.

Gertner 04-12-2011 12:19 AM

Jays are really knocking around King Felix. 11 hits and 5 runs through 6. Seattle's offence is abysmal.

Gertner 04-12-2011 12:22 AM

haha Corey Patterson just hit a 2 run homer off Felix. 7-0 Jays in the top of the 6th.

Hardkore Kidd J 04-12-2011 04:09 AM

I don't know how the Mariners pulled off the magic act and still won 8-7.

Gertner 04-12-2011 07:50 AM

John Farrell's handling of the bullpen thus far has been awful. David Purcey should never see the light of day again. He has no control at all. Fuck was that ever frustrating. 7 runs off Felix and they lose.

Isn't that always the case with the Braves?

Evil Vito 04-12-2011 09:38 AM

The Mets' pen has been horrific so far. Hope they sort their shit soon cause it seems like they can never get the entire team clicking. One phase of the team will always shit the bed on a given night. If they can hit, they can't pitch. If they can pitch, they won't hit.

I wouldn't say always, no. The Braves offense sucked last year mainly because of injuries down the stretch. The offense this year doesn't have much of an excuse. I would say the main concern for the Braves over the past decade has been speed. Ever since we lost Furcal, no one has been pesky at the top of the lineup. Prado is a great at getting on, but he would do so much better in the two hole.

Fredi shouldn't be batting Heyward 6th and McLouth 2nd. I understand wanting to keep the top of the lineup "fast", but it really isn't working out. The offense will pick up though.

Evil Vito 04-12-2011 11:12 AM

Somebody called into WFAN and predicted that Reyes would eventually be traded to the Reds for Homer Bailey and Zack Cozart. Though I DO think he'll be dealt if they fall out of it, seems like he was a typical alarmist Mets fan to say that 10 games into the year.

Supreme, is Cozart good? Sounds like he's meant to be a power shortstop but I'm not sure what his big league projections are. I know Bailey's still mad young but he seems to be a total failed prospect.

Damian Rey 04-12-2011 03:16 PM

I know it's early, but the Padres' offense is killing me right now. Latos threw two bad pitches all night. Outside of a good first inning start, Volquez shut them the fuck down. I saw Headley's OBP was ridiculously high going into last night. I'd say they need to put him in the 3 hole. Hudson is the only one in the top 3 getting on base. You can't expect the middle of the order to drive guys in when your leadoff hitter is hitting .179 and getting on base 25% of the time, you're going to have trouble scoring runs. I do not like Venable leading off, damnit.

In a good note, Mat Latos looked sharp last night, sans a rough 5th inning. 7 k's in your first outing against that Reds lineup is nothing to be ashamed of.

Here's Cozart's numbers on baseball-reference.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/mi...d=cozart001zac

And an article on some Reds prospect site I found via google...

http://redlegsbaseball.blogspot.com/...ch-cozart.html

I don't know much about him outside of the numbers any amatuer analyst can find, but he's already in his 20s, and he's still in AAA. While I'm sure you could find a reason for that, I can;t imagine why he wouldn't be given a shot over Yanish and Renteria at this point. I wonder how much faith they have in him.

I think if Alderson trades Reyes, it will be a blockbuster type move, where he rakes in at least 2 to 3 prospects who can fill in some holes.

Droford 04-12-2011 03:50 PM

Cant wait for tonights Os/Yankees game...

Droford 04-12-2011 05:30 PM

Good to great defender, average hitter. Think he can be a regular in the majors but probably as a #7 or 8 hitter.

Bailey is definitely not a bust. He's got fantastic stuff and has put together strings of absolute dominance in the majors. He just needs to get more seasoning and understand how to throw in every situation.

I would be ok with this trade btw.

Because Janish's defense is so good, if he only hits .260 for the season he's still incredibly valuable.

Renteria is the veteran presence which obviously has value too.

DaveWadding 04-13-2011 05:08 AM

So, the Cubs signed Doug Davis to a minor league deal today. Given the injury problems (Cashner and Wells both out) and recent suckage (James Russell 4 ER is 1 2/3 IP today), he is pretty much bound to be in the Cubs rotation sooner or later.

And I for one cant wait for him to throw BP to teams in Wrigley Field.

RP 04-13-2011 06:17 AM

James russell was.exceptional last night....if your a stros fan

Ermaximus 04-13-2011 09:58 AM

Beat the Marlins 5-0. Way to be consistant there guys.

Aguakate 04-13-2011 11:57 AM

Carlos Delgado retired today.

Big ups to my fellow countryman.

Damian Rey 04-13-2011 01:10 PM

The Padres got absolutely hammered by the Reds in extras yesterday. They come back late to tie it, and blow consequtive chances to put the game away in the 8th, 9th and 10th before imploding in the 11th, surrendering 6 runs, including a bomb from Drew Stubbs that hasn't landed yet. Doesn't help the team was a whopping 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position.

I keep telling myself it's early, but watching this team's lineup get carved through left and right without anyone coming up clutch is downright appalling.

Nice, glad to hear the numbers are just deceiving. Hard to believe the guy's only 24 since I've heard about him for years. Cozart's 25 so he'd probably get hotshotted to the bigs if Reyes got moved.

The thought of trading Reyes still makes me sad :( I know it'll be for the best if the Mets fall out of it since there's little chance they re-sign him, but damn I love that guy. Been one of my favorites ever since his debut way back in 2003.

Miotch 04-13-2011 02:04 PM
