Next Big Thing 11-25-2012 11:39 AM

I hate Notre Dame, but I hate Rick Reilly more and after he dumped on them, I was hoping they had a run like this just so he'd look like a jackass.

I think they'd match up well with Georgia and make the game interesting, but Alabama might run them out of the building in a national championship game.

Uh, you have UGA alums on your team, right? Then by my theory you'd have some interest in the fact that this NFL factory who's put players on your team is playing for a title.

RoXer 11-25-2012 06:36 PM

Hard to believe that UCLA and Stanford won their divisions in the end

Man do you like it when half of your team is suspended for August/September because of various criminal activity? IF you do, then then Richt is for you. I love UGA, and I'm constantly amazed at how he manages to avoid the hot seat by winning the SEC East.

Wow, a bunch of HC jobs already open in CFB: Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Purdue, Colorado, UTEP, Purdue, Boston College, NC State, Cal, Idaho, Western Michigan, and no doubt more will come next few weeks. Auburn gonna spend over $11 million to buy out the contracts of all the coaches. Cutthroat business.

I fucking hate Lane Kiffin and USC. You don't know how miserable I felt rooting for USC to beat Notre Dame.

Frank Drebin 11-26-2012 05:39 AM

If there was going to be a terrorist attack, would have preferred it to be during that game.

Frank Drebin 11-26-2012 05:39 AM

The rapist whos victim killed herself is still on the ND football team by the way

Krimzon7 11-26-2012 08:08 AM

Interesting thing about that Gene Chizik buyout. he will receive about $209,000 per month for the next 36 months. Not bad for a guy who had a losing record at Iowa State, came to Auburn and won a title riding Cam Newton's back.

So I just did some quick Googling, and all I found was a story about an anonymous member of the team who fondled this girl who left immediately after. That girl killed her self. Not saying that fondling is okay, but fondling doesn't equal rape. Am I missing something here? I have not seen any allegations of rape.

After the way the Duke Lacross situation was handled, I can understand a painstaking investigation before anything comes out. 2010 is a pretty long time though.

Every SEC team that Miss State beat this year fired their head coach..

LOL

James Steele 11-26-2012 09:58 PM

Peter King of SI said that Chip Kelly is one of the "hot names" in college who a NFL team might take a shot at as HC. Makes no sense. While the spread has worked its way slowly into the NFL, I just don't see the Oregon style spread option working as a base offense. Too much speed and too much money invested in QBs to get hammered 10-20 times a week. Air Raid might work and the Run & Shoot could make a comeback.

ClockShot 11-28-2012 07:56 PM

Louisville defected to the ACC today. :'(

Kris P Lettus 12-01-2012 06:59 PM

Lacy and Yeldon are looking like Ingram and Richardson..

Droford 12-01-2012 07:46 PM

I got home just in time to see Georgia give up the bomb td ..

I'm OK with Alabama winning since nd beating them would clear up any complaints about them

Droford 12-01-2012 07:48 PM

College doesn't call hits to defenseless receivers..aw

Evil Vito 12-01-2012 07:57 PM

That guy should have knocked the ball down instead of catching it and effectively ending the game.

Bama is gonna destroy ND..

You want to bet on that?

Nd at worst will cover the likely td plus spread they'll be dogs by, but I am pretty confident their defense can shut down Alabama..

Frank Drebin 12-02-2012 01:06 AM

Fucking Wisconsin....figures the big ten BCS rep has five losses. Thanks for knocking down Northwestern a slot. Dicks.

Droford 12-08-2012 01:01 PM

I find it hard to believe a freshman will win the Heisman..but t'eo won't win cause he's a def player..and Klein isn't worthy of winning..so I guess its going to happen

The Condor 12-08-2012 01:09 PM

Pulling for Manti, I think mostly for the novelty of it. He is deserving though.

Frank Drebin 12-08-2012 05:23 PM

In Hawaii right now. No one cares about sports, but they love the heritage. He's been headlining the news everyday for the most part.

Frank Drebin 12-08-2012 05:24 PM

Still really really hate the, like, 6 weeks in between the end of the regular season and the good bowl games. So Fn stupid.

The Condor 12-08-2012 06:05 PM

Totally concur. I think the lower tier bowl games like Northwest Bumblefuck State and South Central Liver Disease start next week but unless you're putting money down its simply irrelevant. Really only looking forward to the title game anyway.

Frank Drebin 12-08-2012 06:36 PM

Some of those games might be good. Fiesta should be fun. Cotton Bowl. How can you not root for Northern Ill in the Orange? I'm a big ten guy so pulling for all of them to try to salvage a terrible year. Go cats!

Frank Drebin 12-08-2012 06:37 PM

Can I still root for a terrorist attack on the national championship? Might be better than either team winning.

The Condor 12-08-2012 08:24 PM

I'm a Big Ten guy as well (Penn State alum) but the whole situation with the conference this year has led me to apathy.

Well...my experience with Penn state folk has generally been that they were totally cool with...ya know....the child rape stuff. Or so it seems.

Like that they say the football program and the institution in general shouldn't have to feel the repercussions for what happened.

Not saying that's you or trying to shit on you but that's what I've heard so far, and I'm curious to hear what you say to something like that.

What are your thoughts?

The Condor 12-08-2012 10:07 PM

Not cool with it at all, and it's not only a black eye but essentially a scar that will never go away. I was not involved so much in athletics, and I wish it were possible to say that the entire scandal were simply a part of the athletic department. However, I spent my scholastic career there, earned my B.A. and have good memories and recieved a good education, and for that I am very proud of the institution. Unfortunately, no one will spend much time looking at that, but rather would dwell on the scandal. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that the school should be punished severely for the depth and severity of the scandal, but at the same time it does not define me or my alma mater.

Frank Drebin 12-08-2012 10:14 PM

Whew

Faith in society temporarily restored.

Can't tell you how feverishly alums argue with me about it. I still think that them playing football in any form sends the message that its all good in the long run, and that if this happened at, say, Tulane that they would have just torn down the entire stadium. But I'm just glad to hear your stance.

The Condor 12-08-2012 10:18 PM

It's tough for a lot of the alums, they take it almost personally, which is understandable to an extent. However, after a short argument and they blow their stack they seem to calm down and accept how bad it really is and how lucky they are to actually have the team playing. They are in the same position as me, an innocent beneficiary of the acedemic and social experience of the university and had nothing to do with the rape scandal but seeing their school ripped to shreds is not a good feeling. Mostly I feel it is mostly frustration from being mocked and condescended to from a majority of Americans, at least I hope thats what it is and that they're not actually that dense and vile.

Frank Drebin 12-08-2012 10:20 PM

Crazy Edgar fights on the side of good.

Well written post there.

Evil Vito 12-11-2012 04:58 PM

lol the Big East is sending Rutgers and Lousville out to Boise State as a parting gift:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...tball-schedule

Emperor Smeat 12-31-2012 06:21 PM

Boise State backs out of their verbal deal to join the Big East next year and is just staying in the MWC instead. They do however have to pay a partial exit fee but the MWC is helping to pay it and it can be lowered.

San Diego State also considering backing out now that Boise State won't commit which means the MWC could add another $25-$50 million in a new tv deal and the Big East possibly being gone by 2014.

Evil Vito 01-01-2013 12:47 AM

Thank fuck, please kill the Big East so that UConn can be free.
