The Mandrian was a cool ass villian.

|
She was pretty.
|
Like her better as a redhead.
Very hot...smoking hot in fact. |
Clever.

I liked it but I really didn't walk away with the awesome feeling I had from the first movie. IMO its better than the 2nd but the first one is still the best.
I am curious to see how the ending of this actually plays into Avengers 2. |
I think it sets a status quo; about how the world feels after New York. Killian's remarks about why he did what he did was interesting (regarding his Thor reference). Things have changed. The bad guys may not feel a need to pussy foot around anymore.
I think we will see the president again in Cap 2, and Killian seemed like he had a Disney death, kinda ambiguous to me. Maybe the next time we see him, if he lived, he'll just be a mental organism designed only for killing. I'm drunk now so take all that as silly speculation. |
I see what you did there.

Solid film. Better than 2, probably not as good as 1. Lot more humour then I expected. Loved when the henchmen was like "I don't even wanna work here. They are so weird". Wasn't much into the increased Pepper Potts presence as I'm not a huge fan of Paltrow in general, and some of the stuff with Tony and that kid threatened to rot my teeth, so saccharine it was. Also would've liked more Rhodey/Stark duo time because they're fantastic together.
Regarding the Mandarin: SPOILER: show |
I have imagined that 'Tyler', who may well go free as he was a hostage technically and did no wrong, probably tries to keep his fame and totally dives into the Mandarin character. For real. He does have followers, like minds don't know any better, or perhaps he can simply gain new ones by running something himself. Hell, perhaps he'll get actual powerful rings to wear - a gift from Thanos perhaps? There's a lot of places he can go, though he can rest as a perpetual comedic character in the MCU if he ever returns.
I personally would love to see him take his act to Asgard. |
I would love to see that, or any form of 'Tyler' returning.
|
I guess I'll be the dissenting voice as I didn't really care for this. I mean it was alright, but I went in with low expectations after #2 and those were barely met. I saw Pain & Gain later that night and enjoyed that much more to be honest.
I guess it just seemed to me like it didn't know what direction it wanted to go. SPOILER: show To me it didn't fit well. |
coldhardtruth would have been proud
|
I hope so.

Let's not forget the deliciously random TV show opening style end credits.

I did love those.

Guys, you're all forgetting to mention the appearance of Martin Skrtel celebrating a Liverpool goal.

I just spent most of my morning and early afternoon putting together a full review for Iron Man 3 on my blog.
The short version? I liked it, but I didn't think they did anywhere near enough with they had available. It could have been really genuinely great, but instead, it was just good. Fun, but that's about it. The long version is right here. |
Are the chances good that Robert Downey Jr. comes back for The Avengers?
|
Yeah, he's under contract for the Avengers sequel.
Also, nice read, Andy. Always like seeing your long-form thoughts on pop stuff. |
Tony is so coming back, but the Iron Man series in itself is most likely down. After Avengers 2 it'll be cameos at best in Phase Three if that.

He's not taking a paycut either. He doesn't want to do a solo movie. |
He's not doing three, he's certainly appearing in 2.
A3 will most likely have an altered roster. Probably won't even be called Avengers. |
I think he will be in both. As I think most of them if not all of them will be in 2 & 3.
|
Thing is RDJ is the best part of the MCU. They need him. They can't use other popular characters and without Wolverine or Spider-Man, we don't really have a super well known and liked character or actor.
And is it dumb or with this recent post-retro Power Rangers hype would it be a good move for Jason David Frank to be cast as... Iron Fist? |

I'm still holding out hope that J. August Richards' "top-secret" role on the SHIELD series is Luke.
|
JDF would be an interesting choice for Iron Fist, but I gotta bring up Ray Park who's been lobbying to be Iron Fist for damn near a decade now.
|
Ray Park and JDF want to be Iron Fist?
....FUCK! |
JDF could still be the villain if that were a movie. He has "the laugh" going for him.
|
Don't think a cheesy evil kid's show laugh would translate to a Marvel movie.
|
Sure it can with a little movie magic
|
If they can make a dude breathing fire not seem outrageous surely they can work with a cheesy laugh.
|
Degrees, man, there are degrees.
|
I really liked it. A lot. Felt it was better than 2 (I didn't hate 2). Very fun movie.
|
They need to bring in JCVD.
|
Would love that so much. |
Who would he play, I wonder....
|
Iron Man. Dump Downey.
|
It would be meta if JCVD played himself in the Marvel Universe and was making an Iron Man movie with John Woo or something.
