Gertner 04-22-2006 04:06 PM

ouch 8-1 jays in the 6th. kinda sucks stima when you actually play good teams eh?

ct2k 04-22-2006 04:09 PM

Fuckin Jays could actually contend for the playoffs this year with the hitting they've got, but i guess as always it all depends on pitching. Though Vernon Wells = :y: for fantasy baseball

So let get this straight, Red Sox where smacking the Jays yesterday but then made a bad decision leaving the starter in too long allowing Toronto to get back into the game and they lost in extra innings. Now granted the Sox are getting smacked today, but for the most part the majority of the games between the 2 teams have been pretty close (decided by 1 or 2 runs) As for the "world beaters" you talked about earlier, didn't the Blue Jays lose 2 outta 3 to Tampa Bay?

Also take a look at who you rocked, he isn't even a starting pitcher, Papelbon was suppose to take over incase of an injury in the rotation but he is too busy being the best closer in baseball and he didn't cost the Red Sox 50 millon dollars either

Oh yeah - I don't play for the Red Sox, so I dunno why you keep refering to me like I do.

Buttt just like everyone else, we'll see whats up at the end of the season.

ct2k 04-22-2006 04:23 PM

My AL East Prediction =

Sox
Yanks
Jays
O's
Rays

I hope i'm wrong:\

ct2k 04-22-2006 04:25 PM

Brewers:eek:

Jesus Shuttlesworth 04-22-2006 04:28 PM

I am not sure how it will turn out, but I am worried about the Wildcard. Since the Jays seem to be pretty legit this year, Red Sox are obviously good and the Yankees line up is flat out ridiculous it'll be tough for a team to win the wildcard in the AL East. I hope the Red Sox can win the East outright, but the WC only improves the chance of making the playoffs obviously.

ct2k 04-22-2006 04:31 PM

It'd be nice to see the Jays in the playoffs for once but i can't see them getting 1st or 2nd

toxic rooster 04-22-2006 11:15 PM

Indians bats have been on fire this year, 6 guys above .300. Blake and Haf among others have started the year well. Getting shut out a week ago to the Tigers started something.

Just a pity about the defence not being able to back up the run support. That and losing 2 relievers in one inning, as well as CC hasn't helped.

BCWWF 04-22-2006 11:17 PM

Ugh, Radke

Joey Slugs 04-23-2006 04:08 AM

The Royals won today! That's it. We're turning this thing around RIGHT NOW.

:shifty:

YOUR Hero 04-23-2006 12:19 PM

how long is Lee out for?

YOUR Hero 04-23-2006 12:20 PM

2-3 months...

YOUR Hero 04-23-2006 12:21 PM

An examination by Cubs doctors in Chicago Thursday determined that Lee has two broken bones in his right wrist. The Cubs' first baseman fractured the distal radial and distal ulna bones in a collision with the Dodgers' Rafael Furcal in Los Angeles Wednesday night. Lee is expected to be in a cast up to six weeks.

the Jays have rocked fat ass wells, golden boy clement now a trillion times.

And B.J Ryan > Papelbon

yeah Stima but the Jays have at least beaten credible teams. Who have the sox beaten except for the jays once?

YOUR Hero 04-23-2006 02:14 PM

Man alive, doe Ortiz ever swing a lot at the 1st pitch. 2 run HR against Towers.

Gertner 04-23-2006 02:19 PM

friggen towers has been awful so far this year. can't get control of his command

YOUR Hero 04-23-2006 02:22 PM

he's not got enough zip on his fastball and he's not hitting the corners (yet) like he needs to, to be successful.

Dragon 04-23-2006 06:15 PM

Nice to see Johnson have such a good outing after that last one.

8 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits (all by Tejada).

Two nice starts in a row for the Yankees, Chacon and then Johnson today, hasn't happened often this year. Hopefully Moose continues to pitch well and does in his next start.

AL East is gonna be ridiculous this year.

Dragon 04-23-2006 06:18 PM

Have the Devil Rays next, so hopefully that series goes well. Jays and Sox are after that so it would be nice to have some momentum going into those series.

YOUR Hero 04-23-2006 07:36 PM

Last Johnson start looked like he had a dead arm. Sounds like if that was the case, he's over it.

The Miz 04-23-2006 07:58 PM

ESPN sucks. According to them, the only teams in baseball are:

St. Louis Cardinals
Chicago Cubs
Atlanta Braves
New York Yankees
Boston Red Sox
New York Mets
Barry Bonds

Boring. Why can't the game of the week ever be Rangers/Indians? Phillies/D'backs? Twins/Blue Jays?

BCWWF 04-23-2006 09:19 PM

Yeah, the Yankees one is kind of out there, they are 7-7

CNM 04-23-2006 11:00 PM

Tell me about it Miz. I rarely watch Sunday Night Baseball anymore because it's the same teams over and over again.

ct2k 04-24-2006 09:11 AM

Generally it means we get good games here in the UK, although i think it was back in 99 or 00, we got atleast a dozen stinking Orioles games because ESPN got it wrong:rant:

It's not even about that, it's that no matter how good or bad these teams are or who is on them, they are always going to be on TV. This year the Blue Jays, White Sox, A's, Brewers, and hell even the Rockies look to be some of the best teams in their respective divisions but that isn't going to get them any closer to getting more Sunday Night games (unless they happen to be playing the Braves, Yanks, BoSox, Cards, Mets, Cubs or Bonds's). And it shouldn't even always be about the best teams either, they should show Pirates/Reds every once in a while just so we can see every team. ESPN analysts complain about how guys like Todd Helton, Jason Bay, Mark Teixiera etc. are "underrated"; well maybe if you showed their team's games every once in a while insetad of Cardinals vs. Cubs every single week, more people would rate them higher.

The Miz 04-24-2006 11:41 AM

Damn Esteban Loaiza is terrible. Hitting 82 on the gun and probably isn't going to make his next start due to a combination of back spasms and sucking. What a waste of money that would be if Saarloos steps up in his spot and pitches like he did last year and Loaiza is left with nothing to contribute.

Joey Slugs 04-24-2006 04:45 PM

another sweeeeeeeeep!

FakeLaser 04-24-2006 05:05 PM

Yankees lead the AL in ERA and are first in MLB in runs scored. I'm thinking we'll do ok.

The Miz 04-24-2006 05:50 PM

I just read that once in 2000, Toronto put this deal on the table:

Toronto gets:
SP Pedro Astacio
RP Jose Jiminez

Colorado gets:
SP Roy Halladay
SP Chris Carpenter
OF Vernon Wells

...and Colorado turned it down, because the owner didn;t want to trade the popular Astacio

The Miz 04-24-2006 05:58 PM

1. Roy Halladay
2. Chris Carpenter
3. Jason Jennings
4. Jeff Francis
5. Aaron Cook

Would be the best rotation in the NL

CNM 04-24-2006 06:33 PM

Actually, the way I understood it, it was just for Vernon Wells. But yes, the Rockies owners are morons. They also turned down an Astacio for Alfonso Soriano trade that same summer.

The Outlaw 04-24-2006 08:11 PM

lol

YOUR Hero 04-24-2006 10:58 PM

I wish Toronto wouldn't have given up on Carpenter. Coming up he was the better prospect over Halladay. Carpenter's injuries slowed down his development big time but the Jays should have kept him.

The Miz 04-24-2006 11:00 PM

Hard to say what kind of success he would've had had he stayed in Toronto. Nowhere near the success in St. Louis, I can guarantee you that much.

...wow. :$

The Miz 04-24-2006 11:45 PM

They also traded Chone Figgins for Kimera Bartee.

Perhaps.

When he came up he was a harder thrower had great movement on his change up. Now that he's in St. Louis, I don't get to see him, but I wonder iof he is still throwing with the same type of zip.
