I dont think the NFL is gonna revert back to the 30s and somehow decide that you dont pass the ball more than a couple times a game. Tebow will either start passing more or he wont be the QB. Pretty simple. Especially if their RBs are all banged up and can't play.

I honestly will buy into them being able to beat the Jets due to the game being in Denver and on short rest. Playing in Denver will obviously have a bigger impact on the Jets and I think they will be tired pretty early on in the game and the Broncos should have that advantage.

Definitely take the Broncos +4.5

FearedSanctity 11-15-2011 04:08 AM

In the NFL, you don't pass unless you have to. Tebow won the Miami game throwing when he had to, and he did good passing against Oakland when he needed to. Denver's run game, now second in the league, has been so dominant lately they simply haven't had to pass. And when they did in a 3rd and long late against KC? 56 yard TD pass.

Tebow will pass when he needs to, but after 494 rushing yards in TWO GAMES there's no need to. The RBs average over 5 yards per carry while the read option averages over 10 yards per play.

Pretty simple.

FearedSanctity 11-15-2011 05:19 AM

Well fuck, and here I was hoping for a win.

And I hate edits after I reply. Dro's initial post ended after "Pretty simple"

Tim Tebow is amazing

Ermaximus 11-15-2011 01:25 PM

Schaub being out for the season is great for my team! If we manage to beat Houson next weekend and then win in Tennessee, and beat Indy at home on New Years Day, I'd love that. 2011 Jags=2010 Rams!

Nark Order 11-15-2011 01:35 PM

9ers got the Cards and then the Ravens on Thanksgiving. Cards game isn't a lock but I feel good about it. Who knows what fucking Ravens team is going to show up. They haven't decided as a team yet whether they are good or horrible. Done trying to figure them out.

Winning both would be wonderful. If we beat the Ravens then the only other team we really have to go through that's over .500 is the Steelers, but that will probably be fairly difficult.

Ermaximus 11-15-2011 01:38 PM

Is at Heinz Field Narc?

Nark Order 11-15-2011 05:00 PM

No, sir. Candlestick, babay.

RoXer 11-15-2011 05:22 PM

More on Narcissises feelings

Nark Order 11-15-2011 05:37 PM

There's a lot more where that came from.

Skippord 11-15-2011 10:02 PM

stop being a Big Vito 22, Narc

Ravens are 22-6 at home under Harbaugh (vs 16-13 on the road).

Ive said a couple times I think the home field and short week give the Ravens an advantage vs the 49ers.

SammyG 11-15-2011 11:58 PM

fucking Niners. Any other year, the Rams would be like 2 games out of first by having 2 wins to this point...

screech 11-16-2011 12:01 AM

Need some fantasy advice. Gotta pick up a TE for this week: Fred Davis (vs DAL) or Ed Dickson (vs CIN)?

My heart says Dickson, but my head says Davis. Torn.

Ermaximus 11-16-2011 12:34 AM

Davis.

DaveBrawl 11-16-2011 12:37 AM

I'm not sure about Davis, but he was one of the Redskins they caught in a drug test violation, so I'm not sure if he is going to be punished or not since it apparently took place in the preseason.

DaveBrawl 11-16-2011 12:37 AM

Never mind it's apparently going to be just a fine.

Skippord 11-16-2011 12:56 AM

I'd go with Davis

MTH15 11-16-2011 01:05 AM

Man i was pissed....well see em the last monday night game of the season though. In New Orleans

Maybe but the 49ers are also undefeated on the road this year. We'll see have to see, sir.

Ermaximus 11-16-2011 02:20 PM

Jumping on the Justin Blackmon bandwagon. Jags need a WR, and he'll be the best available in the top 10. We better draft him.

Flashback: Tim Tebow-style win the result of John Elway's NFL debut
By Terry Frei
The Denver Post

The young NFL quarterback operating under a white-hot media spotlight went 1-for-8 passing, for 14 yards. His team won, and he was moved to say after the game: "Based on statistics, I was terrible. But based on the decisions I made, I was pleased with my performance."

That was the Broncos' John Elway in the visiting team's dressing room at Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Stadium, shortly after Denver rallied to beat the Steelers 14-10 in the Sept. 4, 1983, season opener.

After suffering a badly bruised elbow, he gave way to veteran Steve DeBerg for the second half. While DeBerg engineered the winning drive and threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ron Egloff with 4:54 remaining, he threw only sparingly, and the Denver totals for the day wound up 5-for-16 passing, for only 49 yards.

The five completions matched the lowest total for the Broncos in a victory, and it had previously happened in 1965, 1974, and 1978. Denver hadn't won with five or fewer completions since until Tim Tebow was 2-for-8, for 69 yards, in the Broncos' 17-10 victory at Kansas City on Sunday.

In Elway's debut game, the Broncos rushed for 138 yards on 38 attempts, with tailback Sammy Winder accounting for 96 yards on 20 carries. So it wasn't as impressive a ground-game performance as the Broncos had against Kansas City, piling up 244 yards on 55 carries.

But on that day in 1983, they won too, with even fewer passing yards.

And there even seemed to be a bit of a quarterback controversy, with one school of thought being that Denver was rushing Elway.

"I can't figure out this quarterback situation anyway," DeBerg said that afternoon. "I'm just going with the flow."

Again making it clear that he wasn't going to be a willing backup, or even a cordial tutor for Elway, DeBerg noted: "Everybody has to learn. You don't just come into the league and do it even if you were a great college quarterback. You can't get by on talent alone in the NFL."

Elway was on the sideline for the second half, with his arm bandaged.

"I'm going to have to learn how to throw with a pad on my elbow if I have to play on AstroTurf," he said. "I first hurt my elbow in Minnesota (on artificial turf) last week. It was fine before the game, but every time I hit the ground, I landed on the elbow and it got worse."

Elway added: "If I play like that and we win, I'll be happy. Steve came in and did a great job in the second half. . . . I'm just not throwing well. I think I'm trying too hard to be careful and not make mistakes."

Denver coach Dan Reeves noted: "John has some rough spots. He's definitely in a learning process."

Any of that sound familiar?

DrA 11-17-2011 09:33 PM

I guess that solves Denver's quarterback concerns.

DrA 11-17-2011 09:39 PM

I'm also getting tired of nfl.com playing these really loud broadcasts every time I go onto the site.

Nark Order 11-17-2011 10:25 PM

Lol @ the Broncos wasting that huge return by not passing. This is pretty silly.

FearedSanctity 11-17-2011 10:26 PM

What makes it worse is that Tim has been on the money so far. It's getting annoying

Nark Order 11-17-2011 10:49 PM

Jesus Christ. The Broncos are a mess here.

FearedSanctity 11-17-2011 10:58 PM

lol Tebow is 5/7, with one of his two incompletions being a blatant drop by Decker, and Sterling is complaining that he can't get his guys the ball. OK

Droford 11-17-2011 11:04 PM

I figured the game would be ugly but not as ugly as it really is.

Nark Order 11-17-2011 11:05 PM

I dunno. Feel like I'm not even watching football with this odd hybrid Tebowffense. It's ruining the entire sport as we know it. lol

FearedSanctity 11-17-2011 11:35 PM

Eric Dropping Decker

Nark Order 11-17-2011 11:46 PM

The Broncos need a Frank Gore with this type of offense. This isn't cutting it.

FearedSanctity 11-17-2011 11:47 PM

MacGahee can be that, problem is he's forcing himself to play with a gimped hamstring on a short week

Innovator 11-17-2011 11:50 PM

God whenever I see MacGahee play I think how amazing he'd be if it wasn't for that hit in the Fiesta Bowl.

FearedSanctity 11-18-2011 12:11 AM

For those of you who are watching your first Bronco game of the year, welcome to Denver playcalling
