Gomez hasn't exactly been lighting it up and he's a shit magnet
|
<font color=goldenrod>Gomez has also been playing for a team whose season was basically over by mid-April.</font>
|
<font color=goldenrod>Feel like the trade might help reinvigorate him. And even if he struggles a bit, he's a Boras guy going into a contract year next season. He'll be fired up.</font>
|
Chris Rose on IT said Puig should get traded to Baltimore
Can't see it happening. I'd rather they try for Cespedes |
Anyone interested in some <s>really shitty</s> slightly used pitchers from the Red Sox?
No need to worry about arm fatigue with most of them since they barely pitch that many innings per game. Might even be able to convince the Sox to add in a box of Fenway franks with every deal as a sweetener. |
<font color=goldenrod>Flores about to get an AB in a blowout game after supposedly being traded. Please please please don't get hit.</font>
|
Terry Collins is a horrible manager
|
Why is Collins running him out there while he's in tears. Isn't there another SS that Flores splits the position with??
Terry Collins might be the worst m manager in baseball. |
<font color=goldenrod>@Ken_Rosenthal: Asked official involved with Gomez trade why Flores is still in game. Reply: “No deal is done. The entire world has jumped the gun.”
fuck my life</font> |

<font color=goldenrod>Ruben Tejada is the main guy at SS...in fact he's started at SS practically every day for the last month.
I know he needs a day off...but jesus. Could they not have let him play a couple of innings?</font> |

<font color=goldenrod>And now Hamels is going to the Rangers.
HOT FUCKING TRADE DEADLINE STOVE</font> |
I wonder if Philly got Profar or Gallo or both.
|
<font color=goldenrod>lol no Met had hit 3 homers in a home game until Kirk Nieuwenhuis did it 2 and a half weeks ago.
17 nights later, and now Duda has done it...all solo shots in a 7-3 blowout loss.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>If Wheeler's medicals are holding this thing up, there's every chance that it isn't even completed before tomorrow's 12 PM game finishes.
Poor Wilmer may need to sit in the dugout all game just like Latos and Morse with Miami tonight.</font> |
Apparently Gallo or Profar are not a part of the Hamels deal.

Kenny will do what he's good at. He'll make a trade for some crappy old guy with a name (Jr Grif, Youk, Brett Myers, Carl Everett, an Alomar brother) and you guys will get a half chub over it. |
<font color=goldenrod>Collins was absolutely fucking FUMING in the postgame. Says nobody at any point called him about any agreed upon trade, hence why he kept Flores in the whole time. Flores himself had no idea why he got a standing O in the 7th and found out about the trade from a fan in the crowd.
There's always been a huge disconnect between Collins and the front office and stuff like this proves it. While I'm often not a fan of Terry's managerial decisions, you can tell he cares about his players. He is so pissed off that he had to put Flores through that.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>And the trade is now off.
I quit.</font> |

No one puts Wilmer in a corner!
|
<font color=goldenrod>All evidence pointed to the trade being 100% agreed upon from a player standpoint. Only holdup was Wheeler's medicals. He just had TJS in March so I presumed the Brewers wanted to see how he was doing in his recovery.
So yeah. Now we know Wheeler is basically untradeable because he clearly isn't far along in recovery yet. Flores' confidence is probably shot beyond repair. And teams now have an idea of what it will take to land Gomez. The Mets should have the talent to get something done...but it won't be someone as good as Gomez. I don't even think I care anymore. What an absolute gut punch.</font> |
|
The Os are only 1 game out of the wild card
|
Apparently Rangers were not the top choice for the Phillies in the Hammels deal since they liked the Astros offer more but Cole Hammels killed it with his no trade clause.
|
<font color=goldenrod>Alderson is the one that nixed the trade. Over concerns of Gomez' hip.
What an absolute fucking joke.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Sorry I'm going off in this thread but this is by far the biggest slap in the face the Mets have ever given to their fans. Gomez has been fucking fine and would have single-handedly transformed a lineup that badly needed a big time hitter. And they were going to get him for a shortstop playing terribly (and who had his confidence systematically killed as a result of this leak) and a pitcher who won't be back until June next year.
If they don't get a big bat by 4 PM on Friday I am finished watching Mets baseball this year. At a certain point the front office needs to stop being a bunch of fucking pussies.</font> |
I'm sorry Vito. You need a hug you handsome man?
|
Mor like gun shy. Wheeler isn't as good as any of the current young studs they're currently using. And yes, Flores, a below average bat who doesn't rate well defensively is certainly expendable. I don't get it. Gomez may have been arguably the best player they could've acquired for such little talent in exchange.
|
<font color=goldenrod>It's fucking gutless. That trade was an absolute heist. Gomez has missed all of one game since June 23. Even if something did happen with his hip, he's only signed through 2016. He wouldn't break the bank and fuck them over for years and years if he had gotten hurt like Tulo would have. What Gomez could have potentially provided far exceeds what anyone else in the current Mets lineup is capable of.
And I like Wheeler a lot...but jesus christ. If there was ever a great time to cash in on him, it's now. They still would have had Harvey, deGrom, Thor, Matz, Niese, Fulmer, Montero, Verrett, Ynoa, and the rest. They have SO much pitching. And given how salaries have been increasing there's not a chance in hell they'll be able to keep all of the established guys in that group once they all reach arbitration. Unless Gomez had an inoperable tumor on the base of his spine, this was a fucking horrible decision that sends the completely wrong message to the entire fanbase.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>And to top all that off, I bet Gomez goes to the Cards or something now and tears shit up. Because why not?</font>
|
<font color=goldenrod>Hopefully all of the people reading my rants in the tri-state area did so in Mike Francesa's voice.</font>
|
I don't know anything about the prospects coming here for Hamels, but I can dig getting Matt Harrison.
And JAKE DIEKMAN WAS TRADED. FUCK YES. GOOD RIDDANCE, YOU BUM! |
Great. Yanks are in Texas for 1 more game. What are the chances Hamels gets the start?
Checked my phone this morning and heard the Gomez trade got eighty-sixed. Tough break for Vito and the Mets. But here's hoping they grab someone else. |
MEANWHILE.
The Mat Latos trade finally got done. Somehow the Braves got in the mix and this became a 3-team deal. Dodgers get: Mat Latos, Mike Morse, Jose Peraza, Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, and Luis Avilan. Braves get: Hector Olivera, Paco Rodriguez, and Zachary Bird Marlins get: Kevin Guzman, Jeff Brigham, and Victor Araujo. |

But you seem to be one of those disillusioned Chicago people that is a Sox/Cub fan and hates the other team for no reason. You do notice that Cubs are 2.5 back from the second wildcard spot right? How many games are the Sox down by? 2.5. I would also rather be in a race for a spot against a bunch of mediocre teams than the Giants (And Mets). |
<font color=goldenrod>Remember the episode of The League where Ruxin's hot wife promises him special sex only to find porn on his computer and then tell him "no special sex. not now. not ever."
That was basically me last night. "I feel like I have 10 pounds of pudding inside of me"</font> :( |
