One of the truly great players of the last 10 years, has performed in the biggest games the world has to offer, won the World Cup final for France in 1998 (scored 2), won the European Champions League for Madrid (scored an absolutely unbelievable goal in the final) and has also won the European Championships.

For a few years he was without doubt the best player in the world.

Mr. Monday Morning 04-27-2006 07:23 AM

Also 3 time World Player of the Year

DAZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Also Scolari shits over every other English candidate why the fuck is everyone so fucking stupid. Best possible appointment.

Flair Wooo 04-27-2006 12:48 PM

I would rather big sam than some brazillain guy who is clearly just after as much money as he can get!

packt up 04-27-2006 12:58 PM

Yeah except Scolari is good.

Mr. Monday Morning 04-27-2006 02:23 PM

Yeah let's have some fat fucking twat who hasn't won anything at all in his management career worth a damn, has his team play like the modern-day Wimbledon, and has basically whored himself out in the media for the last 3-4 months about how he wants the job, which coincidentally has come at the same time Bolton's form has gone to shit.

Also Scolari will be earning less than Erikkson.

COME ON BIG PHIL

He's so fucking stupid

Rob Ban Fan 04-27-2006 02:43 PM

How is it clear that he is just after the money? Lets just get the best manager available in.

Lets compare:

Alan Curbishly-
Honours: None
Experience: Managed a mediocre Charlton side that has a reputation for tiring and fading off every season, has never finished in the top 6.

Steve McLaren:
Honours: Carling Cup winner
Experience: Assitant manager for England, won a Micky Mouse trophy that no one cares about by beating the mighty Bolton (thanks to a dodgy penalty), was publicly talked down by his own club captain with regards to the England job.

Fat Sam:
Honours: Carling Cup Finalist
Experience: Signed about 50 cast offs from all over Europe, paid them £30,000 a week and then released half of them without playing more than 2 games for the club. Got Bolton into the UEFA Cup and got knocked out.

Luiz Felipe Scolari:
Honours: World Cup winner, European Championship finalist, Copa Libertadores winner twice.
Experience: Won the South American equivilent of teh Champions League with both his club sides, took over the national team and lead them to the World Cup (defeating England along the way), took over Portugal and brought in Deco, which caused Rui Costa to cry, which in turn caused Big Phil to tell Rui Costa to suck it up or fuck off. Took Portugal to the final of the European championships (beating England along the way) and then had an unbeaten qualifying campagin for the 2006 World Cup.

Well theres not much between them, granted. Its very close but I think Big Phil just edges it for me.

Rob 04-27-2006 04:45 PM

Honestly, I would have went with Scolari or McClaren. I hear stories about how McLaren can't motivate players but if you need motivating to pull on your national shirt then you have no business in the game.

Granted, Scotland's players aren't much in comparison but we had a foriegner and he was without question, the worst manager in our history (I still say we needed him just because he brought in much needed new faces when Craig Brown refused). Walter Smith walked in the door and it was like a different team. Do England really need a great manager with that pool of players available?

Rob 04-27-2006 04:49 PM

Well fuck me! Boro win it in the last minute... again! Maccarone too!

Team Sheep 04-27-2006 05:11 PM

Lol holy Christ what a fucking game.

Yeah all he's done is take bolton from a division 1 side to a reguler top half table premiership side.. with what limited funds he has! Plus getting the best out of players such as jay jay who ppl thought were finnished!

Big phil might be a good coach but what harm wll it do trying out an english coach like big sam?

Rob Ban Fan 04-27-2006 05:49 PM

England probably shouldn't need a great manager, they should just need someone to pick the best XI and tell them go out and play and score goals. But none of those English managers would tell them to do that either. All three of them play horrible, shitty tactics with their clubs and all three of them play 4-5-1 regularly.

If the FA have to pay a fat Brazilian man £4m a year to say "Ashley Cole, get forward as often as you can, Joe Cole run at people whenever you get the ball, Wayne Rooney do your thing." then so be it.

I also doubt either of those three English managers would have the bollocks to drop Rio Ferdinand when he's playing shit. Where as we already know from how Big Phil handled the Rui Costa thing.

Limited funds my fucking arse, look at how much those players he brings in for free get paid.

And who the fuck thought Jay Jay Okocha was finished :| Granted there were guys like Djorkaeff who came in and did alright but neither was he 'finished', he's in the same bracket as someone like Sheringham whose quality didn't deteroriate severely with age.

On top of that I question his handling of players and judgement of character. This is the man who has signed guys like Ben Haim and Diouf, even though everybody knew Diouf's a piece of shit spitting diving cunt.

I anxiously await the day Scolari drops Beckham and tells him to give his wife a smack.

Maybe not motivating to wear the shirt but there is absolutely no question that some players are far, *far* too comfortably entrenched as to be nearly untouchable.

Nervous Ferret 04-27-2006 07:05 PM

Saw some kid wearing a Robbie Keane jersey today, usually anyone here wearing a soccer jersey gets the auto "fag" label in my mind, but I actually knew who Robbie Keane was so I went over and tried talking to him about Liverpool and West Ham and he was like "Errr, yeah". Rob Ban Fan would be proud.

But yeah, so that Zidane dude sounds nasty. Hoefully I'll see him play during the cup.

Dude, he'd be the second name on my team sheet every single game. I can't believe how often he gets blamed. Of course, you could replace him with that midget Shawn Wright-Phillips. How many games has this waste of money played this season? 7?

Do some searching on youtube, there'll be a bunch of highlight vids on there.

Partially joking. Nobody can deny with a straight face that between 2002-04 he seriously lost form. This season he seems to have been Madrid's only decent player, which bodes well. Still, somebody needs to sit him down and tell him not to fucking wander all over midfield

Rob 04-28-2006 03:52 AM

And he does need to give his bitch a smack.

Cactus Sid 04-28-2006 08:39 AM

Fucking disgrace, Luis Garcia OUT of the Cup Final, for absolutely fucking nothing.

Congratulations to the FA for fucking up for the 8 millionth time this season

I'm not impressed  :foc: :n: :n:  :foc:

Rob Ban Fan 04-28-2006 12:08 PM

What did they do anyway?

And Mullins is out for them too and they need Mullins more than you need Garcia IMO. Since they'll most likely have to replace him with someone shite like Christian Dailly where as you can replace Garcia with Riise, Gerrard, Cisse, Morrientes or Crouch depending on where he was gonna play.

Flair Wooo 04-28-2006 12:16 PM

It was fucking handbags at dawn! Nothing really could of just yellow carded um both and got on with it but no!

Ye i agree but garcia is a matchwinner although he plays utter shite at times.

Cactus Sid 04-28-2006 12:31 PM

RBF is right, they need Mullins more than we need Garcia, but its still a fucking disgrace.

Garcia reacted to a challenge and sort of swung around and elbowed Mullins in the back....that makes it sounds worse than it was, you'd have to see it to show it was nothing. Mullins then pushed Garcia in the face.

Garcia probably deserved a yellow, Mullins under rules deserved the Red.

Cactus Sid 04-28-2006 01:27 PM

I'm gutted.

I was gonna put 20 quid on Steve McLaren becoming the new England manager, because I had this feeling the whole Scolari thing was gonna blow up in their faces.....

Sure enough, Scolari has just withdrawn from the race to become England manager, I would say McLaren as good as has the job now.

Rob 04-28-2006 02:06 PM

Scolari is an idiot. He didn't know about English reporters before now? I mean, it's not like they have a world-wide rep now is it?

Flair Wooo 04-28-2006 02:15 PM

I hope too god they don't apoint mclaren now!

Mr. Monday Morning 04-28-2006 05:43 PM

They should just shut up, let everyone concentrate on actually trying to win the damn thing NOW, and then appoint Capello in the summer. Job done.

Mr. Monday Morning 04-28-2006 05:47 PM

Also, whoever gets the job should be given a shotgun and the legal right to be able to use it on any sports journalist they wish.

Rob Ban Fan 04-28-2006 07:50 PM

Can't blame him for turning it down because of the press, they are scum.

Cactus Sid 04-29-2006 05:42 AM

This whole situation is hilarious, and the press are just making it twice as funny.

Do they actually want anyone to ever take the England job? They forced Sven out, they badgered the best man for the job so that he didn't want it and now they are digging up dirt on McLaren.

Its truly fantastic viewing for a Scotland fan :D

Flair Wooo 04-29-2006 05:43 AM

Ogen you're teams getting battered today :D
