Dodgers/Angels hopefully make it.

owenbrown 10-11-2009 10:06 PM

Anybody who honestly didn't think the Yanks would beat Pavano is retarded IMO.

This year seems basically set up perfectly for the Yanks tbh. They have a chance to beat Pavano to advance to the ALCS, exorcise their demons with the Angels, and then beat either the defending WS champs or Joe Torre/Manny's team (can't see the Rockies making it there as much as I'd like it)

Triple Naitch 10-11-2009 10:42 PM

What a horrible baserunning move. :nono:

McLegend 10-11-2009 10:43 PM

Wow

Evil Vito 10-11-2009 10:46 PM

Jesus Christ. They are just handing the series over.

McLegend 10-12-2009 12:05 AM

It's early, but I'm not liking this so far.

Loose Cannon 10-12-2009 12:14 AM

Is it me or did anyone else want to throw a left hook to Orlando Cabrera's face this series? the guy plays like such a clown.

Loose Cannon 10-12-2009 12:15 AM

and lol @ Twins fan trying his best to impersonate an A-Rod homer

Jeritron 10-12-2009 12:18 AM

Crapelbon

Dragon 10-12-2009 01:17 AM

4 days to wait for game 1 of the ALCS is gonna feel like an eternity.

Skippord 10-12-2009 03:23 AM

Well the Rockies won't win this series but I didn't really think they would

good to get the young guys some confidence and postseason at bats though

SammyG 10-12-2009 03:40 AM

So, my buddy watched the game, I didn't cuz I was at the library. Was there some moronic Rockies fan behind home plate being absolutely ridiculous all game? This is what he told me.

Skippord 10-12-2009 03:42 AM

lol yeah, he might very well be my new favorite human being ever

also Carlos Gonzalez is going to be incredibly good soon

SammyG 10-12-2009 03:50 AM

Tell me more about this fan

Skippord 10-12-2009 03:57 AM

he was just dancing behind home plate for 9 straight innings in freezing weather

and booing really loudly, cool guy

SammyG 10-12-2009 03:58 AM

My buddy sent a letter to PTI about him.

I must be retarded then. It wouldn't be the first time a bad pitcher woke up in the morning and said "He was the best pitcher alive" and then ended up pitching like Cy fuckin Young. We get shut down by bad pitchers quite a few times.

But, I am really happy about this. Is there any way we can pay someone to have all the playoff games at our home though? Because the Angels home is the Yankees personal hell.

But Yeah beating the Dodgers would be a dream come true for me.

Skippord 10-12-2009 07:25 AM

it's incredibly annoying to think about all the stupid walks that cost the Rockies the game today(yesterday whatever the fuck)

Skippord 10-12-2009 07:30 AM

also Chase Utley fouled that ball off himself

but oh well

Innovator 10-12-2009 10:38 AM

Yanks won the last series out in LA of Anaheim in SoCal. Big series since it gave them some confidence out there.

SammyG 10-12-2009 12:18 PM

I wanna see a video of this Rockies fan

ClockShot 10-12-2009 01:35 PM

Anybody catch the Twins fan run onto the field. Laughing pretty hard at that, trying to jump over the centerfield wall to escape, but security got him.

SammyG 10-12-2009 03:33 PM

that was epic

Innovator 10-12-2009 07:17 PM

That was amazing, and of course Chip Caray tried to no sell it

Well, if you don't win the world series what does it matter if you win 100 or 80? Ya know?
I say this not only about the Yankees, but about all teams.
That's how I view it. If the Red Sox get knocked out, their season was a failure. Cut and dry. The ultimate goal is to win the world series.

This has been Hero's argument in the past and I admit back then I didn't fully agree, but now I do.

In the sense of sports not business (profit/loss) the goal is to win it all, not to win the WC, the Divison, the DS, CS... it's to be the World Series Winner.

So yeah, everyone else failed at their goal, now a team that goes to the WS and doesn't win had a more successful season then a team that didn't make the playoffs but they're still a failure.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-12-2009 08:20 PM

I'd agree with that if everyone were on an even playing field but they're not. If the Pirates or Nationals have a winning record, nobody is going to call their season a failure because they didn't win the World Series. Certain fanbases are just spoiled and they get higher expectations.

McLegend 10-12-2009 08:38 PM

It should be everyone's goal to win a World Series, but the odds are so ridiculously high you can't call your season a failure if you don't win the World Series.

There is no way you can tell me the Twins season was a failure.

It's not logical.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-12-2009 09:35 PM

Way to blow it Papelbon

I blame a lot of that on poor ownership. There should be more enforcement of teams that settle for mediocrity, sell off all their talent, and make no efforts to make a push and rally their market.
Not every market is going to be as big and profitable as others, but they can be successful and get the locals to care about their team.
They just have to go out there and do it.

It's just not fair to the fans, the players, and the rest of the league to have certain teams that intentionally suck to keep costs low and go for a small, but safe profit. I think there should be a league minimum on payroll. MLB should care more and say "if ownership has no intention of making their team successful GTFO"

Droford 10-12-2009 09:40 PM

Phillies fans around here are starting to get obnoxious, so I really kinda want to see the Rockies at least push this to game 5.

McLegend 10-12-2009 10:08 PM

I knew when Dexter Folwer jumped over Chase Utley it was going to change the game.

SammyG 10-12-2009 10:12 PM

holy shit. might be headed to a game 5 here.

ClockShot 10-12-2009 10:28 PM

Subway does wonders for Howard.
