Watching some old WWECW episodes on Youtube. As much flack as the post-Heyman era gets, I forgot how awesome WWECW was when it first started.

I think WWECW was great through its entire run. If it wasn't called "ECW", I think it wouldn't have been shit on as much by hardcore fans. Double-edged sword because I doubt they would have launched a 3rd brand that acted as a bridge between developmental and the main show while giving some old hands a good role without the popularity of the ECW name off of the Rise & Fall DVD and success of One Night Stand.

Still can't believe WWE was dumb enough to book Batista/Big Show for a Hammerstein Ballroom show that early in ECW's run.

I actually liked some of the post Heyman stuff too. There were some shitty spans though. Notably right before the first PPV all through Lashley's run.

That first 6 months or so was incredible though.

Heyman's "Messiah" thing was great. Him kissing Dreamer on the lips before letting Test destroy him was genius.

Also, lol @ Kelly Kelly putting up absolutely no struggle when Dreamer bent her over his knee to spank her.

I went to an ECW House Show in the Summer of 06. It was pretty good and i saw one of Cm Punks first matches under contract.

I wish they would have saved the Flair vs Big Show match for Hammerstein. Just seeing Flair in that arena and the crowd reactions would have been interesting.

Big show's Ecw title run was pretty enjoyable for being big show

Yup, they had the promo videos out and Heyman knew exactly where to debut him to get a reaction. I mean fuck, he got a WWE audience to care about Balls Mahoney despite his obvious flaws.

December to Dismember still would have been shit regardless of what they did mainly because it was so short, but I really wish they would have done Heyman's idea. The champion had never gone out first in an elimination chamber type match yet, so having CM Punk choke out Big Show would have been a huge build up for him even if he did lose later in the match to Lashley wining the title because that's what the company wanted.

Even after Heyman was fun for a bit though. The Originals vs. New Breed, Punk/Morrison, Stevie Richards, Colin Delany... It was occasionally the best hour of wrestling on TV during that period.

Why the hell they drafted Sandman to Raw I'll never know.
