I told you guys that AEW on TBS would be a huge success
|
The Big Bang Theory is a much more reliable and consistent lead-in than random movies on TNT (no offense to 'The Accountant')
|
They threw everything they had at this show and still barely cracked a million. This was definitely a failure. Next week will be back under a million. They will probably never hit it again. They have no more tricks up their sleeves.
|
I still couldn’t care less about ratings. But cracking a million is nice. Imagine calling that when AEW debuted in this timeframe.
|
Wait, so now the important number is the percentage increase in the 18-34 demo??? Anything to spin the win

Then 1 million became “fine.” Then it became the baseline. Then it became a giant success if you got it.

A millions great.

Oh I see yet another “never hit a million again” prediction. Curious how this one will be backed out of when AEW inevitably hits 1 mil again.

It’s not a great number compared to most of what’s in the Showbuzz charts and what’s left off (reruns, etc.). 1 million people from the entire United States. And we’ll also see if the show started off strong with a lead-in and then the audience dwindled. Or what happens in coming weeks. |
A millions excellent.
|
This week Big Bang Theory fans were surprised with something new after their show. They all watched and saw it sucked. They will tune out immediately next week.
|
I posit the superfan who would still be watching BBT would also find interest in the physics of such a spectacle. They will continue to watch, figure out the secrets of the industry, create an algorithm that will select the best candidates for said spectacle and take down both WWE and AEW and lolTNA.
WOOOOOOOO! |

Aaanyway...
This popped into my social feed, probably the most interesting ratings read I have seen, which frankly isnt saying a lot. https://wrestlenomics.com/2021/07/19...-trends-in-tv/ |

Dude compares WWE live ratings to other sports, since WWE has declined more in ratings. However he leaves out the fact that the rest of "non-sports" TV ratings are down more than WWE in this timeframe. Then he acts like he is acknowledging that fact, but really he has transitioned to DVR viewership. He states more people watch WWE on DVR than live sports, however compared to non-sports and non-news programs (because he just randomly decided to exclude news programs in the middle of all this) WWE doesn't hold up to those DVR viewerships. WWE has declined less than traditional TV, likely because that is offset by the larger number of people watching traditional TV on DVR instead. The truth is closer to being WWE is down the same amount as traditional TV when combining live viewing and DVR viewing. But an article about how WWE is just like the rest of TV is not an interesting story. WWE is in a grey area, more live than normal TV, but less live than sports (and news), more DVR viewership than sports (and news), but less DVR than normal TV. |
I agree with Xrod, a million plus us outstanding.
|
im optimistic. if they can consistently hit 1 million thats no small fea for a young product like theirs.

the big thing is the advertising revenue. if they can consistently have this kind of performance theyre going to see a lot of growth. theyre operating at a loss currently and this is good news on that front
|
I thought interest in Brock/Lashley would get a good bump in ratings but I was wrong
1.63 million for RAW |
RAW was going against the National Championship. God vs Satan in Hell in a Cell for a main event wouldn't have increased their ratings last night.
|
Poor Raw, going up against The National Championship only got 1.63 million viewers. Too bad Raw is not the powerhouse AEW is on Wednesdays unopposed, or they could get 1.01 million viewers too!
Wait... |
|
Battle of the Belts did 704,000 which is better than I figured it would do, huge success again for AEW.

NXT losing to a show called Assisted Living, the demo just wasn't young enough

I hear John Cena’s hosting a game show on TBS that debuted its 2nd season last night. The biggest star is wrestling over the past 20 years! TBS is becoming quite the Mecca for wrestling fans!
|
Also, congrats to WWE NXT for cracking the top 40!

969k for Dynamite. That’s about a 6% drop. Just wait until people find it though.
