What a dumb ass game by the Packers

Emperor Smeat 09-28-2010 12:36 AM

ESPNews stat from Bears-Packers game:

Packers had more penalties (18) than points (17) against the Bears on Monday.

On September 1st if anyone would have said that the only undefeated teams left going into October would be the Chiefs, Bears and Steelers I think someone would have had them committed to an insane asylum.

Now..on to the most important thing..

Having not learned my lesson by missing out on $1,000 by Norv Turner being an idiot, Im going back to the well, twice as hard with another 9 team teaser parlay this time for $100 to win $2,200..cause thats how I am...really stupid.

Anyway..

San Francisco at Atlanta - 1.5
Cincinnati +2.5 at Cleveland
NY Jets + 1.5 at Buffalo
Seattle + 4.5 at St. Louis
Denver at Tennessee - .5
Detroit at Green Bay (estimated to be -13.5 plus the 6 pt teaser=-7.5)
Carolina + 19.5 at New Orleans
Indianapolis -1.5 at Jacksonville
Washington at Philadelphia -.5

The only wacky looking pick is Carolina + 19.5, but the way I see it, the Saints haven't been blowing anyone out of the water this year and history is on my side as 9 of the last 13 meetings have been won by the road team outright (though I really don't expect the Panthers to win, I just don't think the Saints will win by 20 points)
The great part about getting a jacked up line close to 3 TDs in the NFL is that its not that common for teams to blow out by that many as they'll call off the dogs and run the football to eat clock to speed up the game and plus the team thats down usually finds away to score garbage points late.

I was thinking about going with the +19.5 on Detroit vs Green Bay but I cant pull the plug even though Detroit covered a +16.5 this past weekend for me vs the Vikings by losing 24-10. If the line on GB moves higher than what I expect it to be (-13.5) and pushed the teaser on the Lions up to over +20 points I might change my mind.

DaveWadding 09-28-2010 03:41 PM

lol Dez Bryant:

The bill came due for Dez Bryant's refusal to carry Roy Williams' shoulder pads in training camp, and the rookie was stuck with the Cowboys' tab at a local steakhouse Monday night.
Williams got his revenge to the tune of a whopping $54,896 tab at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Bryant invited the offensive players out, and Williams told the defense to come along as well.

Evil Vito 09-28-2010 03:51 PM

Holy shit. Now I really do want to go on Sunday night. Giants are unveiling a Ring of Honor. Michael Strahan, Bill Parcells, Pete Gogolak, Phil Simms, Frank Gifford, and Tiki Barber have been confirmed to be on it. The other 24 will be announced at halftime.

What a shame though that some are questioning whether or not LT will be on it. I don't care what he did off the field, it'd be a crime to leave off arguably the best defensive player of all time.

All that over refusing to carry shoulder pads? Freaking ridiculous.

Ridiculous if he was a regular guy maybe. Even an undrafted free agent/late round pick but a 1st round pick? He'll live.

-Dez Bryant's refusal to carry Roy Williams's shoulder pads during training camp has been given a numerical value: $54,896. That's what happens when you take the entire team to one of the nicer steakhouses in the D. Ten bucks says Romo had the soup and tried to convince Miles Austin to split an app.

All the talk about the 18 game schedule and how it would be too long and players risking injuries got me to thinking..

Why don't they schedule a Conference wide bye week in the middle of the season for each conference? I say conference wide because theres no way the NFL would shut down for an entire week, so essentially the season would be 20 weeks long, with each team getting its normal bye week plus say Week 9 is the AFC's week off and week 11 is the NFC's week off. Or they could just do 2 bye weeks, 1 in the first 10 weeks and 1 in the 2nd 10 weeks...

I do honestly think 18 games is too much though, but I have a feeling its going to happen.

FearedSanctity 09-30-2010 03:58 AM

So how long until the UFL becomes the NFL's farm system? With Goodell and the NFLPA wanting to cut down on most offseason activities, it may be best. NFL is waaaaay overdue for one anyway. Too many players with potential who never get a chance to make 53 man rosters

Reavant 09-30-2010 06:51 AM

NFL doesnt need a farm system because they have a draft

I will be shocked (happily of course) if the Ravens win but Im not gonna be depressed about a loss unless they give it away late or something. But obviously 2 games back of the Steelers already and probably in 3rd place in the division at the quarter pole isn't what was expected of the Ravens..

I don't understand this. MLB does have a draft. They have 2 drafts actually. Don't know what's going on here.

FearedSanctity 10-01-2010 12:27 PM

NFL does need a minor league IMO in part due to players going from college to pro going from like 200+ teams to 32. Leaves a lot of talent out there. And while yeah the NFL does have the best there is, what about the guys who just need some time. College leaves players with 4 years tops, and that's IF you start as a freshman.

Having a farm system allows guys a better chance to develop. Practice squads are pretty shit, at least with a minor league you get the chance to see what a guy really has in game situations instead of practice, without having to try to fit him in onto your 53 man roster AND try to get him on the field during gameday. SHit would work wonders for rookie QBs like Tebow or Bradford, actually allowing them to play instead of just practice and a couple preaseason games per year.

And wtf? Yeah, MLB not only has a draft, but isn't at leats one of them like 1000 rounds long? Don't understand how hockey, baseball and basketball can have drafts, college teams and minor/developmental leagues, but it's just not right for the NFL

IC Champion 10-01-2010 12:38 PM

Farm Systems would benefit QB's big time, and with an 18 game regular season, and fewer pre-season games, QBs are going to have less time in the future to develop. If it wasn't for the pre-season, the packers would never have known that Aaron Rodgers was ready to be a starter.

CINCINNATI -- Charity-minded callers are getting intercepted by a sex phone line because of a misprint on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco's namesake cereal boxes.

Because of a wrong toll-free prefix for a number listed on Ochocinco's cereal, callers are directed to a phone sex line instead of a children's charity. The phone number is supposed to connect callers to Feed the Children, which benefits from sales of "Ochocinco's." But because the box has the wrong toll-free prefix, they get a seductive-sounding woman who makes risque suggestions and then asks for a credit card number.

Slight knee sprain.. He was questionable all week.. I think they just sat him cause it's the Panthers.. Both safeties being out is hurting us.. And the turnovers..

Droford can eat a dick..

Kris P Lettus 10-03-2010 03:28 PM

So the local CBS coverage is waiting to show the Colts Jag at 3pm instead of Steelers Ravens, because of Manning and not wanting to go against the Saints game..

BOOOOOO

Supreme Olajuwon 10-03-2010 03:34 PM

I don't think they have a choice. The NFL, Fox, and CBS decide all of that stuff.

Kris P Lettus 10-03-2010 03:41 PM

I thought the local affiliates picked the games.. I know Fox and CBS rotate the double header, but I thought they still got to pick which game is broadcast..

Supreme Olajuwon 10-03-2010 03:46 PM

Actually I'm not sure if the rules are different when it's a CBS affiliate in an NFC market. Cause I think the games are determined by what division your team is in, but that should only matter on the channel that runs your conference.

So I dunno.

Kris P Lettus 10-03-2010 03:48 PM

Well, it seems in the NOLA area, instead of showing the best AFC game (which they did in Missisippi) they will always show one or both of the Mannings, cause they are local boys..

Supreme Olajuwon 10-03-2010 03:52 PM

Hmm, I dunno then. Cause I always get mad when they show Browns or Ravens games instead of the Colts on CBS.

Surprised how bad the Bengals are in terms of their expectations/potential. They lose to the Browns and fall 2-2 but Palmer has another big stat game. 3 straight games where the team failed to score more than 2 TDs since Palmer is getting good stats but majority of it didn't come in critical or Red Zone situations.

Droford 10-03-2010 04:12 PM

I think the Ravens should be able to handle the Broncos at home next week. Kyle Orton will get smooshed.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-03-2010 04:15 PM

Bengals have tons of talent, but shoot themselves every single week by making stupid ass penalties. On their last drive, Chad Johnson made a stupid penalty that knocked them out of field goal range. Then on the Browns last possession, stupid fuck Pat Sims gets a defensive holding penalty and gives the Browns a first down and then they ice it. How the fuck does a fat fuck d tackle get a defensive holding call. Fucking retards.
