I dunno, I don't see the logic here. People are clamoring for DB. I have never seen this type of reaction to one guy sustained this long in the current era. It's amazing at how ridiculously over he is and how little they give him to do. |

<font color=goldenrod>It took 15 years, but I'm finally ready for a break. I was optimistic after SummerSlam, but my interest in the product has waned considerably throughout the fall and this fucking show was the one that finally did me in. WWE is just completely out of touch with their audience at this point and it's clear as day they don't see any reason to create new stars when they still have Cena and Orton around or when they can just bring back a part timer with any sort of name value. I almost never get worked up over WWE's decision, but this is too much even for me.
I'm sure I'll be back someday. But it's not going to be for a while. 3 hours a week is just way too much time to waste on a product you don't enjoy any more.</font> |
I'm not the type to have knee-jerk reactions to PPVs, especially a few moments after they end. Also, my posts never get on Noid status (sup, Noid? *bro fist*), I usually keep my opinions light and engage in somewhat healthy debates here and there. However, this is one time, I have to say this, with affirmation:
Fuck you, WWE. I'm an adamant supporter of the "lets just see where it goes" logic. As a person in my every day life, I make a point to have the "glass half full" approach. When Daniel Bryan won the title at Summerslam, and then Orton cashed in, I said "well it sucks that the moment wasn't 'authentic' but he'll chase the title, and eventually win it in some valiant fashion. Fast forward, and he faces Orton and A FAST COUNT by Ref Armstrong (which I don't think was ever explained, someone help me out here, please) and he's stripped of the title? Okay. Enter the Wyatt family. My mind says "Alright, this will give Bryan something to do outside of the title picture. It was a good test run and they see he's over as shit so a decent run with the belt is a lock, right?" I was wrong. I'm not even including all of the times Raw ended with him not getting the upperhand when he should have. What made Austin/Rock so mesmerizing during face runs is that SOMETIMES they got the better of the authority, and sometimes the authority got the better of them. There was a balance that kept you rooting for the guy, and you legit didn't know if he'd come out on top at the end of each episode. That made it entertaining. I completely understand Cena being the top dog and getting the belt off Del Rio in order to unify it at TLC. So now I'm saying "Well, Bryan wins the rumble, he's hot, and he gets an even BIGGER moment by winning BOTH belts after chasing them, at the biggest stage of them all." Too many times though, it seemed as if Cena just deferred to Bryan on some "Hey give this kid another shot." another thing I think hurt the momentum. But I was cool with it if it had an endgame. After being screwed so many times, I started to wonder if WWE was doing it on purpose, to cool him off. Even if they were, it didn't work. When he broke away from the Wyatt family, and that entire crowd was with him, I had never seen anyone that white hot in a long time. Yeah, the Summer of Punk was amazing, but he was a tweener, going up against Cena, who still had major support from a good amount of the audience. Daniel Bryan had EVERYONE on their feet for him. I had never seen a crowd that involved in one guy in a very long time. Including The Rock. Here comes Batista. People start mentioning how Batista could win the rumble and I legit thought "no way." I didn't think there was a way a guy could come back after a few years, and just win a rumble. Just like that. One Raw, and then "oh hey guys i win lol." I'm not a Batista hater, I just thought they wouldn't do that. DB was white hot. Concussion was an issue? Clearly it wasn't, he just had a match. He could have come in at 30, bruised and beaten, and gone for a few minutes. Fan touched on it before, Batista is no Rock. When Rock came back in 2011, it was to host Mania. When he wrestled in 2012, it was for a major match, two marquee names, you thought you'd never see. When he wrestled in 2013, it was against a guy who had an active 434 day reign, longest in the modern era. And the point was to transition over to Cena. That made perfect business sense. No one was hot enough at the time for me to warrant the "Rock is taking peoples spots" logic. But I say that to say... I had some friends of mine joke with me today about a surprise Rock return at the Rumble to win the whole thing, and they said "Shad, I bet you'd love it if Rock came back and won the rumble" and without hesitation I said "No. That would suck. That would be a terrible decision because DB is so hot right now. Besides, Rock wrestling in a 3rd straight main event? I'm over it. I'm a Rock fan; I grew up on him like some guys grew up on Savage and Hogan, but no. NO ONE was as white hot as DB right now when Rock returned before. I just knew the WWE would do the "right" thing. So I'm watching the rumble and 29 comes out and I say "30 has to be DB" and my buddy reminds me "Rey Mysterio." And my face falls flat. I'm not even the type to get too vested in this sport; I like to just see where things go, but honestly, if they're trying to shit on the fans, they just did an amazing job. Summerslam was 6 months ago. And Bryan has not been capitalized on like he should have been. The rumble was the chance to do so and they did not. A rematch with Sheamus would be a waste, I don't care how good the match has the potential to be. What would have happened if in 98, they would have had a returned Kevin Nash win the rumble instead of the white hot Austin? Seems blasphemous right? Competition existed back then though. I'm just ranting. I'm legit annoyed by the outcome of this rumble. Cheers. /Noid post. |
anyway, I was hoping Hacksaw was going to enter. He is am all-time great. USA USA USA!!

Tomorrow night they should have HHH out and award Daniel Bryan a Toy belt and let the real performers wrestle in the big league.

Rey went from being arguably top 5 most popular superstars on the current roster to getting marred by injury and losing somewhere around 2 years on his career and not mattering at all. Poor guy.

I think that most WWE PPV events start off really hot and then end cold as fuck. They need to bring the mid card guys up to the main event scene instead of trying to rely on Orton/Cena/Batista/ whoever the hell else is returning.

Also, thanks WWE for taking BadNewsBarrett out of the Rumble after being shown in the graphic and getting my ass 3 weeked in the Survivor Pool.

Daniel Bryan will go on a wrecking spree taking out the 11 non announced Royal Rumble Entrants that took his possible spot
1) Kane 2) Rusev 3) Swagger 4) Dolph Ziggler 5) Kevin Nash 6) Great Khali 7) Sheamus 8) El Torito 9) Cessaro 10) JBL 11) Ryback It'd be like Final Destination but with Daniel Bryan playing death One of them also took Xavier Woods spot since he was supposed to be in it |

Mick Foley's post on Facebook.
"HEY WWE....WHAT THE F? Yes, I'm going to put a brick through my TV. It's just going to have to wait until tomorrow. I had every intention of putting a brick through my TV tonight, after seeing that Daniel Bryan was not even entered in the Royal Rumble match, let alone going to win the thing. But, upon seeing their dad with a brick in his hand, my younger children got a little bit scared, thinking their dad had lost his mind. A rather spirited debate about the wisdom of following through on the promise to put a brick through my TV ensued with my wife - and, as is usually the case in marital debates, I, being the husband, did not emerge victorious. Honestly, the points she made about mercury and glass fragments everywhere were pretty good ones. But I'm still going to put a brick through my TV. It's just going to have to wait until tomorrow - when the kids are in school, and I can take the TV outside the house for the actual throwing of the brick. Granted, it's not nearly as dramatic as doing it live, right after the Rumble, but at least I will be keeping my word. As I mentioned on Twitter, I've never felt so disgusted at the conclusion of a WWE (or any) PPV. Like many of you out there, I just don't get it. This Daniel Bryan thing is a phenomenon. You get it. I get it. The fans in Pittsburgh (yes, I was thinking of writing "RIGHT TH...but I'm just not in a cheap pop mood) got it. But tonight, for the first time, I had to admit to myself that the powers that be are just not going to get it. And that makes me sad. I'm just honestly sad, just flat out fucking sad (yes, I dropped an F-bomb there to emphasize how F'ing sad I am for the guys who bust their butts night in and night out - Ziggler, Punk, Bryan, etc - with no hope of getting their shot at this year's Mania. You know who else I'm sad for? Me. In my two years as an official WWE Ambassador, I never once had to lie about my enthusiasm for the company or the product. Now, although I am no longer officially an Ambassador for WWE (believe it or not, my only official role in WWE is as GM for Saturday Morning Slam, a contract that ends in one month) I was till looking forward to being part of the biggest event of the year. I'll probably end up going anyway. But I'm about 1/6th as excited about it as I was just a few hours ago. I wanted so badly to hear 75,000 WWE fans chanting "YES" - and seeing fans walk away absolutely ecstatic about the outcome of a PPV for the first time in a while...a long while. But when given the chance to make it happen (unless they've got something MAJOR up their sleeve) WWE's answer tonight was a resounding "NO, NO, NO". |
This shit happened. Then the Dave Grohl/Josh Homme/Trent Reznor spot got cut short at the fucking Grammys. Tonight kind of sucked.

The WWE are either fucking idiots or absolute geniuses. We will see. Orton vs. Batista has always been a risky choice for WrestleMania, simply because the crowd there will be so fucking smarky. It is very possible that they will give that match the Orton/Sheamus treatment, much like they did Cena/Orton tonight. You can talk about Batista drawing all you like, there is a very good chance the audience at Mania will absolutely SHIT on that match.
That being said, if Batista comes out tonight and mocks Daniel Bryan, with Bryan then coming out and confronting Batista, you could have a huge angle on your hands. |
2 out of the last 3 runner ups have kinda faded into oblivion.. Hope that doesn't happen to reigns.. He has grown on me..

Yeah, Wyatt and Bryan had a really good match. I don't mind Wyatt winning, because it makes him look savvy and credible. It could have been a case similar to WrestleMania X, where Owen Hart defeated Bret Hart in the opening match, with Bret then winning the WWE Championship in the main event. But the rest of the booking of the show sucked a pretty fierce one.
|
;)

I thought Lesnar and Show was booked perfectly, too.

Lesnar/Show was alright. I'm not sure if I liked Show walking out or the right connecting with Brock, but whatever.

Cena should have won the title and Bray Wyatt the rumble. That's your money WrestleMania title match. Orton gets pissed after losing to Cena and costs Batista the rumble claiming that the Authority didn't help him out because they wanted to replace him as the face of the company by winning the title at WrestleMania. Same two matches except the good, interesting one actually has the title on the line and the more shitty one at least has a good back story and won't get shit on for being the main event title match.

Everything of the PPV was great until the final seconds of match. Horrible ending to a great Rumble ruins the Rumble match but not the PPV overall. The WWE title match was horrible except for the fans shitting all over it. Loved DB/Wyatt's match and they both came out looking like the future of the WWE.
New Age Outlaws being the tag team champions means that somebody who is a face can chase for the titles. A face chasing the titles is always best for business. Even though New Age Outlaws are the WORST tag team in WWE history trying to play heels when they are supposed to be heels. This might cause some problems for the tag team division. Still happy for them getting another title run if the Dudley Boyz can have 18+ the New Age Outlaws deserve a 6th (and 15+ more to be honest.) I did like how the Brock/Big Show match went down also. Big Show didn't look particularly weak even though he was in a diaper like five weeks ago. Brock beat the hell out of him with a chair but didn't even try the Kimura lock. Sort of weird he didn't try it. Would be good in a rematch to take out Big Show's WMD. Brock taking the full WMD and only being staggered was a work of genius. Great PPV besides the final moments of the PPV that were disappointing to say the very least. |
Like I said before, WWE's biggest mistake in this whole thing is acting like Batista is a bigger deal than he actually is. He's getting Rock treatment and he's nowhere NEAR Rock's level in any way, shape or form. You can't put his name on the marquee and instantly sell tickets and it seems like that's what they think he's gonna do.
|
In the middle of a pre-show match they did a trailer for "Oooh order the Royal Rumble" and it had a flash of superstars in it, the third of which was a quick flash to Daniel Bryan. Seemed implicit that he was in the event.
Batista comes back looking like a roided up Jasper Carrot and is a rustier version of a old wrestler. Oh, except he's in royalty because he's got a part in a marvel film that absolutely no-one has heard of or has any affection for. |
I'm kinda on the fence about this, but in the end, I'm glad that Bryan wasn't in the rumble at all. It was a smart move to keep him out if they weren't going to put the strap on him at Mania. Batista winning was a given when the reports of Cena/Wyatt and Batista/Orton at Mania started. I knew either Orton or Cena was going to walk in with the belt, but didn't see Wyatt as a strong Heavyweight championship contender just yet, so Batista was the obvious answer. I kept trying to come up with ways that Bryan could win the Rumble and still get the belt, but outside of a Triple Threat, there really isn't any other way. Bryan/Orton/Batista to me is just a waste of time.
As for the Batista/Orton reaction, I agree with what others said above, the crowd will shit all over it. Therefore, I now believe that if Sting comes in to face Taker, Lesnar SHOULD be added to Batista/Orton to make it a triple threat and WIN. Batista faces Lesnar at Extreme Rules and gets the belt that way. As for Bryan, I unfortunately see it this way.... Bryan Promo: "Something's been bothering me for a long time and that is an 18 second loss to Sheamus at WM 2 years ago. Sheamus, I challenge you to a WM rematch." Bryan then goes to WM and beats Sheamus in 17 seconds and gets the Yes! chant and crowd going before whatever main event they go with. In other words, Bryan's momentum will be just a filler. Triple H & Vince say to Bryan when he comes back from the ring, "Maybe next year, kid." On a side note, I feel really bad for Sheamus, Reigns, Mysterio, and in some cases, Batista. Wasn't their fault that the booking was horrible. |
