Undertaker vs. Randy Orton in an Inferno Match

Awesome! How brutal that they get covered in flame. Love it lol
|
I think KoOS was "Hmmmm"ing the random two ??? spots on that list.
|
It'll be cool to see who the hidden characters are.
Also going by the Highlight Reel screen, we'll possibly be getting the Troops Tribute arena this year |
Well it's in alphabetical order so it shouldn't be hard to figure out...
|
That inferno match is going to be very gay after the first one.
|
In this interview Taku Chihaya, creative director on WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009, we address the question of features in this edition.
"We've had a lot of feedback from players about the latest version of Smackdown vs. Raw for Wii. All players agreed that the game was really easy to learn, but it was too oriented towards the general public, in other words, it lacked depth. We gathered the team to discuss. We agreed that the side accessible to all was a good, but that it was imperative that we make the game more fun and more exciting. In the previous version of Smackdown, we had only one gauge on the screen, because we thought it would make life easier for players. But suddenly, as we have gathered all the information in a single gauge, it made the reading a bit complicated. That is why we have this year added a gauge of Momentum. As you can see just now, we have developed for the Wii entries wrestler interactive. You can reproduce the poses of your favorite wrestler. But perhaps the morbid shyness of the Japanese players to prevent large movements in front of the screen. I think of all those who spend their time to work seriously to their computer and I see enough bad gestures with the Wiimote and Nunchuk. I will now talk about the biggest novelty of this Smackdown 2009. From my earliest age, I dreamed of designing the final movement of a wrestler. To create it as simply as if you catch one of your friends to make a wrestling madness. With our editor, you can design your web end easily. I heard about the game Midway TNA Impact. And I would play as soon as possible. It's been a long time that I have not played a game of catch which I have not worked myself. I am a true fan of wrestling games! With this new game, I can play another title than that I develop. We thought of calling for every day mode Bra & Panties, "but it will be in the next year. We benefit from an engine offering better graphics. I apologize because we do not advise me a fan of the "Bra & Panties" was coming." translated from Jeux Video In the video on that page, even the neckless from Create-A-Superstar mode moves. |
Highlight Reel looks good.
You know, other than the huge cop-out that is Career Mode, they look like they're trying really hard this year. Did 08 not do as well as expected or something? |

No I don't think 08 was well recieved. I definately think while it was still fun, it was definately the biggest disappointment in the series so far.
As for career mode, I have a feeling that its not going to be such a cop out after all, what with all the alternate twists and outcomes etc, it sounds like it'll have more playability and will be more fun than people are giving it credit for |
I guess we'll just have to wait and see in 3 weeks.

Oh no, I know 08 was terrible, but it usually takes a kick in the sales figures to make devs put effort in for a yearly series ;)
|
Yeah, to this day I refuse to even try the demo.

In the middle of a feud with Triple H. Beat him in a match one week. The begining of next weeks show, shake his hand in the hallway. During the same show, cut a promo on him and beat him with a chair. |
The hand shaking/walking into the divas locker room (all that stuff with the opening commentary) was supposed to be non kayfabe or some bullshit that I read the devs say. That was like your wrestler (the person, not the character) turning up for the show. Terrible really.
|
I think thats dumb for sure. Either pick kayfabe or non kayfabe(not neccisarily the game, but the mode itself definately) and stick with it.
Although it may be stupid, but no where near as stupid as TNA's 'Jarrett and LAX kidnap your partner and threaten to kill him'. I wonder at what point the devs realised their story was extremely simaler to Def Jam FFNY and Icon... |
I only recently realised just how bad 08 was.
I haven't completed the 24/7 mode playing as a wrestler and haven't even touched it as a GM. I have half created one character. I have only unlocked a couple of locked wrestlers. Usually I play the game to death...last years made me feel like death was the better option. |
I agree XL. I usually play the game to death also, but 08 was only reserved for multiplayer for the last 6 months. And a few weeks ago I sold it on ebay for £15 in preparation for the new one.
TBH between that and TNA, I've sold a few old games to afford this in 3 weeks and Spiderman WoS next week. |

OOOOOOOOOO BAM!

To some, wrestling is a way to get out of the regularity of life. To others like Chavo Guerrero, it is a way of life, a legacy and tradition that entwines a family. His gene line reads something out of wrestling history; his grandfather was the legendary wrestler and promoter Gory Guerrero and his late uncle, Eddie Guerrero, is a name that will continue through the ages. "Chavito" began his quest at an early age, often wrestling with Eddie during the intermissions of Gory's shows in Texas. After making his official in-ring debut in Mexico and traveling around the world, Chavo came to WCW in 1996, winning the Cruiserweight Championship twice during his time there. Chavo came to WWE in 2001, and has won the Cruiserweight and Tag Team Championships multiple times. He fulfilled a life-long dream when he teamed with Eddie Guerrero to win the gold in 2002. Following the tragic passing of Eddie in November 2005, Chavo has dedicated every match to his late uncle, and adopted Eddie's signature Frog Splash as his own finishing maneuver. In 2008, the self-proclaimed "Mexican Warrior" aggressively pursued CM Punk's ECW Championship, leading Guerrero to winning the ECW Title. He has since remained a staple to ECW's roster. Now, with his association his bodyguard Bam Neely, he is more dangerous than ever. No matter who he is with or against, Chavo is still realizing his destiny as a member of one of the most celebrated families in sports-entertainment history. lol I love that they've got all the entrance gear in this year, including Chavos poncho.
Hopefully this means Edges jacket is in this year too |
LOL at the Cruiser title being in the game yet not presented contested in WWE.
|
Entrance attires = awesome.
On the subject of entrances, I'm a little annoyed that Taker seems to have the droids again. That enterance should be reserved for the WM arena (unless it's only for inferno matches, in which case is cool) |
Maybe its just PPV arenas? Like last year some guys only had pyro if it was on a ppv
|
I hadn't noticed that - show's how little I played last year's game!
|
lol, yeah. Undertaker had flames and stuff at PPVs. King Booker had pyro where he normally wouldn't. And Orton had his 'golden shower' pyro in the ring during his corner pose(like ONS 2006) instead of on the ramp to name a few.
|
Did anyone notice in the Inferno match vid, undertaker did his tombstone WITHOUT a pin? That's fricking awesome, because before he was shown with the pinning tombstone, so this MIGHT mean that moves that go into a pin won't go into a pin in non-pinning situations... I wonder if THQ was actually smart enough to implement that.
|
Damn, didn't notice the 1st time I looked, thats pretty awesome.
That will be awesome for cage matches and backstage brawls, because the opponent always seems to get up faster from a finish when you have to let them out of a pin. |
Personally I think they should implement a system similar to the Legends of Wrestling games for pinfalls from finishers.
It's be much better to add an extra button press (perhaps having to time it at the right point) following a finisher than having it auto. For example, the SCM where HBK collapses into the cover would just be a normal SCM where you have the option of pressing the X button for him to go straight into a pin. |
Quote:
If you're Orton and you're challenging for a title you're pyro will be in the ring instead of the ramp. Its pretty simple to understand. |
"A quick monkey flip to the opponent."
I think thats the first time I've heard a commentator actually CALL THE ACTUAL MOVE in a game instead of saying "Oh man what a move" or something like that. |
<font color=goldenrod>In a Gamingring vid it said that PS3/360 versions would have 66 playables...62 have been confirmed. And that pic that KOOS posted shows two Hidden spots. The only two active people that would fit that list are Maryse and Mike Knox (or Mike Adamle...:shifty: )</font>
|
Question to think about: is wrestling real?
|
Answer: no
|
Highlight Reel?
This game just sold itself. Can't wait. |
http://gamingring.com/news/?p=3288
Long story short... *Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions to feature 66 playable people. Obviously the leak didn't reveal everybody... *Create-A-Belt is OUT. This is apparently due to it being a rarely used feature in the game. *Create-A-Tron is a distinct possibility for future editions of the game. *Tribute To The Troops arena is 100% confirmed IN. *No trophies for PS3 players. *PS3 is graphically inferior to X360 at this point. |

They should be able to put Regal's proper music and tron in there, tho. It's as simple as changing the files. No extra programming or anything.
|
But they won't

As the son of WWE Hall of Famer the "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Cody Rhodes grew up admiring his father and watching him capture the imagination of wrestling fans worldwide. Now Cody is ready to carry on his father's legacy while carving out one of his own in WWE. Cody's road to success started when he teamed with Hardcore Holly, as the two captured the World Tag Team Championship in 2007. Besides being the son of "the son of a plumber," Cody seems like he was destined for the squared circle. He had a stellar high school wrestling career, winning major tournaments before signing a deal with Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE's developmental territory. While training for his debut on the big stage, Cody was honored when his father asked him to help induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. It was highly emotional night for father and son, who are extremely close. "He and I, we're like best friends, we're really close," Cody told WWE.com at the time. "So for us to be together – if ultimately he were to say, 'I don't want anything further to do with pro wrestling,' this would be a wonderful way to cap it off." Now, with his father watching on, Cody Rhodes is thrilled to have an opportunity in WWE and show our fans that the legacy of the Dream lives on. The second-generation Superstar has already won championship gold twice, the first time obtaining the World Tag Team Championship with partner Hardcore Holly, and the second time turning on Holly with new partner and fellow wrestling scion, Ted DiBiase, to win the title again at Night of Champions. Along with DiBiase, Cody Rhodes represents a new generation of Superstars that have the genetics, pride and confidence to go the distance. Rhodes has made his intentions clear: to make his own name in WWE, and he doesn't want anyone holding him back. Hardcore Holly is a man definitely deserving of his name. Known as "The Alabama Slammer," he is as tough as they come and has been a mainstay in WWE for more than a decade. Brutalizing opponents with his gruff offensive attacks, Hardcore Holly earned his nickname during the era of the hardcore division in WWE. Even to this day, Holly still lives up to his hardcore reputation, punishing opponents with hard fists, hardcore brawling and his trademark Alabama Slam. Channeling his anger as a tool in the ring, Holly has enjoyed great success. Just a year after his debut, Holly teamed with 1-2-3 Kid at the 1995 Royal Rumble to win a tournament for the World Tag Team Championship. Four years later, he won the World Tag Team Championship once again with Crash Holly. He was extremely successful in the hardcore division as well, winning the Hardcore Championship six times during its active era. His toughness and no-nonsense attitude earned a slot as one of the trainers for MTV's Tough Enough 2, where he used his fists to teach several hopeful trainees about respect, hard work and paying your dues. All of which serves to reinforce the Alabaman's grit. It's also why you don't get any respect in WWE unless you've beaten Hardcore Holly first. 'We can't tell you who.....or what is in DLC' Pretty much confirms DLC is wrestlers for the most part |
On a random note: Does anone remember Wrestlemania The Arcade Game when you'd win and Vince would yell over and over "pin him. PIN HIM! Pin him. pin him. PIN HIM!?"

if you're too lazy to watch it, it confirms: -30 CAW slots for both 360/PS3 -Create a Tag team entrance as well as new tag team motions -64 CAW layers for both systems -same framerate (60fps) for both systems -still unable to take CAWS with logos online, but next year that will be gone -CAWS no longer appear in a box on the wrestler select screen and will now be fully rendered just as the in game models -if you copy a CAW, only their model will be copied, not their attributes -next year they will try for being able to use the Highlight Reel as a created titantron -there will be premade Highlight Reel videos at the start of the game -you can save up to 20 highlight reels (ones you've made yourself or ones you have downloaded from other people) -there will be new motions for wrestlers that hold championships -the demo will feature tag team matches -there will be new grapples for cage/HIAC matches -more moves have been added in this game than any other Smackdown game (around 50 to 60%) -PS2 version does not have highlight reel or online -there will not be trophies for the PS3 version (but promises they will be in next year) -you will be able to turn of the glass shattering effect for finishers -there will be a few more secret characters as well as a new unlockable match type that is unlocked in Road to Wrestlemania mode. also there will be unlockable unannounced championships in career mode -DLC will be available shortly after the release of the game (it sounded like he slipped up because he said "i cannot confirm who...or what will be available for DLC but it's going to be really cool". so that should give us hope for wrestlers as DLC) |

It's so nice to be honestly excited about a SvR game.
|
<font color=goldenrod>This game sounds awesome, definitely buying.
However, I'm INCREDIBLY bummed about the CAW stats not being transferable. I was gonna make a generic CAW with like 6's for everything and then copy him over whenever I wanted to make a new CAW so I would only have to play with that CAW through Career a little bit to fine tune their stats. Now...I can't see myself making more than 3 CAWs tops since you have to spend at least an hour making the model plus it took Greg 4 hours just to get his CAW to a 69 OVR.</font> :o |
Why are you guys so bummed about CAW stats? Lat years game had an option in shopzone where you could buy stats for your CAW to make him an 80, then you could build from there. Who says this year won't have the same?
|
Unless I missed something?
|
Quote:

Hmm, that kinda sucks. Doesn't bother me because I only ever make one primary CAW and edit it from time to time, and maybe make a couple others.
Sucks for those who do though. |
He did say that the backlash over the career mode being the only way to level up every CAW was something they've seen and they were working on possibly copying CAWs with stats. No promises though.
|
I usually only create actual wrestlers with CAW, but I guess that's not necessary given DLC.
Having said that I'm not on XBox Live yet! |

The Brian Kendrick is one of the more unusual and eccentric young Superstars on SmackDown. Kendrick has been working to make it in wrestling since he enrolled in the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy in the summer of 1999. Since Kendrick was the smallest trainee at HBK's school, he tried to catch on with a company in Mexico or Japan, where size isn't necessarily as important as it is in the U.S. He also didn't have the standout amateur background that WWE officials covet. But Shawn Michaels — himself known for overcoming the odds — saw potential. With Michaels as a teacher (and unlimited amounts of fortitude and hard work), Kendrick gained momentum. In 2004 he put his WWE dreams on hold to hone his skills. By doing so, he ensured that when he returned to competition he would be stronger, quicker and more fierce than before. He again began to perfect his craft by traveling all over the world. By learning the strict Japenese wrestling dojos he continued to gain more experience. Now, Kendrick will use that same determination to distinguish himself from WWE's other high-flying Superstars. Kendrick holds the distinction of being the first Superstar to switch brands in successive years as a result of the WWE Supplemental Draft. Only in his 20s, London has already acheived stardom in WWE, winning the WWE Tag Team and Cruiserweight Championships since his WWE debut in October 2003. London may be a bizarre personality, but once the bell rings, he's all business. He has impressed fans with innovative moves such as the "Dropsault" (a combination dropkick and moonsault), the "mushroom stomp" and his 450 splash. And his successful tag team combination with Brian Kendrick has only led to more innovation. In March 2005, London won a Battle Royal on Smackdown to win the Cruiserweight Championship. Chavo Guerrero claimed London never actually defeated Chavo one-on-one, which lead to their match at Judgment Day. There, London retained his championship and successfully defended it until losing to Nunzio in August 2005. London and Kendrick scored yet another upset victory when they defeated MNM for the sixth straight time at Judgment Day to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship. London & Kendrick would hold those titles for nearly a year before being defeated, making them the longest running WWE Tag Team Champions in history.
