YESSSSSSSS.

I love Ortiz so much.

Dragon 10-19-2004 12:21 AM

Damn.

I hate Ortiz so much right now.

Smitty 10-19-2004 12:23 AM

Sox vs. Yanks makes me so emo...Ortiz is my man.

Boondock Saint 10-19-2004 12:27 AM

Ortiz rules all. He is a monster.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-19-2004 12:41 AM

Damn figures, we beat Rivera 2 nights in a row but we are still down a game

If The Red Sox do come back and win this series that would be the most ridiculous thing of all time, still a long way to go though.

Dragon 10-19-2004 12:43 AM

Cardinals walked Berkman and then Kent homers in the ninth.

Astros up 3-2.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-19-2004 12:44 AM

LOL the ALCS almost finished after the NCLS hahah thats ridiculous

I hope they play tonight... I know, both pens could use the rest... but I have more faith in Schill going 8-9 IP then Lieber doing it again... Plus the Sox seem to be hitting the Yanks bullpen well.

Plus, tonight I'd have more faith in Foulke then Rivera... simply becaue Rivera is a power pitcher and is tired, where Foulke (also tired) is not a power pitcher.

el fregadero 10-19-2004 03:12 PM

I actually think the Sox are going to win this series.

Just got that feeling.

Haha.

I don't follow baseball at all really, but I figured since it was the playoffs and this is a big heated rivalry, I'd watch the games and all. It's been a pretty hot series. I'm by no means a Sox fan, but the Yankees are fucking awful, and any team that reminds me of the NY Rangers must die. So I've been rooting for the Red Sox to win, and the past two games have been pretty hot. That Ortiz guy is pretty "clutch", as some hip and with-it teen would say.

el fregadero 10-19-2004 03:42 PM

Yeah, I changed my thoughts after watching the last two games.

I thought the Twins were gonna beat the Yankees and that Houston had no chance to beat Atlanta either, so what do I know.

Dragon 10-19-2004 03:44 PM

I think Schilling will blow it tonight. I don't see him going more than 5 innings at the most.

Or he could be really good, but I doubt that will happen.

Splaya 10-19-2004 03:48 PM

Schilling- 8 IP 6H 1ER 8 Strikeouts

Lieber- 5 IP 10 H 4ER 2 SO

VonErich Lives 10-19-2004 03:48 PM

The key tonight... which ever team goes to the bullpen first will lose.

I think NY is in worse shape in the Pen then boston...

Main reason... closers.

Rivera is a power pitcher, and last night he didn't warm up to save his arm and he threw a few good pitches and also threw junk. For him to be effective, he has to blow by guys and hit his spots. 94-95mph.

The flip side is Foulke, who also has pitched more then he ever does and more often, days, and innings and batters and pithcers... difference is... he doesn't throw gas, he's a finence pitcher... the upside is... he's more capable while fatigued to be able to pitch. The downside is, if he doesn't have his "stuff" he's much worse off then Rivera, he'll hang balls over the plate... if he can find it.

either way... it's been soooo much fun to watch... except game #3... they've all been close and good games.

Dragon 10-19-2004 03:58 PM

Lieber has been awesome lately. I don't think he will only go 5 innings. I'm sure he won't pitch as good as he did the other day but he will be decent I think.

I think it all depends on Schilling, because if the brace doesn't help him much and he gets taken out pretty early that is going to be pretty tough for the Sox bullpen to handle.

But I agree that the Sox bullpen is in better shape and if both teams are close when each goes to their bullpen then the Sox have a good chance of taking the game.

But I am still confident the Yankees will take this game, if there is a game 7 though it will be crazy.

Loose Cannon 10-19-2004 04:25 PM

this kid walking in front of me at school today had one of those gay hats on.

OK FINE. 3-2. Now we'll end it where it should end. Right inside the promised land.

Oh yeah.. "gay hats"... why? cause it's not pedro w/ a pacifier?

"Promised land" it was funny, all the Yanks at the game Sunday wanted to end it in fenway "We want to win in your house" which I feel would have been worse for the Sox then droping it in Yankee Stadium.

I'm happy Schill gets a 2nd shot... this is the reason he came here, the game he wanted, etc... etc..

I agree, Schill is a huge key... if either guy gets knocked out before the 7th it's bad news for that team... I can't see one of the pens going 3 or more IP tonight.

I always hate "jumping ahead" but... if the Sox pull it off tonight... who goes game 7?

I assume for the Yanks it's Brown and they'll have Duqe and/or Moose from the pen if Brown gets hit early.

For the sox, it's up in the air... the original thought was Arroyo or Wake.. but w/ both pitching last night... although Wake is a knuckleballer.

The other talk is Lowe on 3days rest w/ Wake and Arroyo ready for long relief.

I really want to see it go 7... see Schill pitch his big game tonight... that and it's been such a great series (minus game #3)... Heck, make it a best of 11 :) skip the NL... just keep the sox/yankes going... :)

Tonight will not be a cake walk at all... He wasn't hittable game 2.

Dragon 10-19-2004 05:02 PM

Yeah, the Sox during the first three games look like a different team then from the Sox the last two games also. The bats have picked up when they needed it.

Its gonna be a good game tonight if its not rained out.

Hardkore Kidd J 10-19-2004 06:15 PM

I like this whole 3-2 thing. It looks like a good series. I got to say that I give my props to Boston. They're very good as a team the guy who I really gotta give it up for is David Ortiz. That guy is a giant. And for the past few games he was the reason that the Sox won. So I gotta give it up to Sox. I respect them and frankly I kinda wish they'd win the series. You know what I'm going too far with what I just said. I respect them so Red Sox :y: David Ortiz :y: :y: But I am a die hard Yankees fan

Loose Cannon 10-19-2004 06:15 PM

Of course they wanted to end it in Fenway, so did I. We just want to get it over with. But, now that we can end it at home, it's all good.

Yeah Game 7 will be Starting Staff vs Starting Staff. It's going to be sick. Everybody will pitch. And yes, I have been saying that Boston/Yanks should be the dam World Series. I don't know, when the Yankees beat Boston last year it felt like the end. Playing Florida was like anti-climactic, especially when they lost  Boston/Yanks should just be the end.

I dunno... he was money last night... 1-2-3 the top of the NY order.

The word is, if Curt gets in trouble Early, Lowe is the man first out of the Pen.

LOL, fuck you A-rod

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-20-2004 12:42 AM

LOL what are the Yankee fans bitching about, A-Rod punched the ball out of Arroyo's glove

They probably dont know thats a rule though, wouldnt except it from Yankee fans, all they know about baseball is that the Yankees win a lot. hahaha

Dragon 10-20-2004 12:42 AM

A-Rod gets my hopes up, making me think the ball just got away. But its ends up he hits it away.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-20-2004 12:46 AM

Why where you guys so nervous about Arroyo? He was lights out last night in 10th coming out of the pen

He wasn't that bad this season, his era is around 4ish..which isn't anything spectular, but its not terrible either.

toxic rooster 10-20-2004 12:46 AM

Fuck me, A-Rod's an arrogant cunt if I ever seen one

Boondock Saint 10-20-2004 12:46 AM

A-Rod enjoys smacking balls.

Dragon 10-20-2004 12:47 AM

If I was a Sox fan I'd be more worried about Timlin coming in and giving up runs rather than Arroyo.

Not everyone, just me.

I dunno, gut feeling.

Smitty 10-20-2004 12:48 AM

Some more insurance would be nice

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-20-2004 12:48 AM

Yea, Greg Myers scares the shit out of me personally

I won't lie, everytime somebody comes out of the pen I get a little worried but they have been stepping it up. I guess its just natural

9th inningggggggg

toxic rooster 10-20-2004 12:49 AM

Would have been better for A-Rod to take the tag and let Jeter get to second.

But no....my 10 bucks is still alive :D

Boondock Saint 10-20-2004 12:49 AM

Orlandooooo

toxic rooster 10-20-2004 12:50 AM

Whoa...it's all gone quiet over there

Corkscrewed 10-20-2004 12:50 AM

LMAO at A-Rod trying to swipe the ball out!!!

This is a great game, and if the sox come back... what a comeback! But they'd still have to win Game 7.

toxic rooster 10-20-2004 12:51 AM

Who are they gonna have to pitch though?

Dragon 10-20-2004 12:52 AM

Probably Wakefield.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-20-2004 12:54 AM

Yea Wakefield

I bet Lowe might be able to pitch some too, but Wakefield is expected to start Game 7

Splaya 10-20-2004 12:56 AM

You know what, I'm sorry for any of you Yankee fans here, but you are acting absolutely assining. It's not BoSox fault that ARod hit the glove like that to purposely knock the ball out. I mean your supposed to be some of the best fans in the league and then you go and do stupid shit like that. Every person who is throwing a baseball or a bottle at that game, saw the replay, and whether your a Yankee fan or not, you know deep down in your heart that ARod did that shit on purpose.

toxic rooster 10-20-2004 12:57 AM

I was expecting a token "since when did Wee Gooner care about baseball?" post.

Well the answer is I'm bored, the game's on and i've got 10 bucks on boston winning a pennant, so

RoXer 10-20-2004 12:57 AM

YOU TELL EM!

toxic rooster 10-20-2004 12:58 AM

LOL now they've got a police officer talking to the umpire.

Splaya 10-20-2004 01:00 AM

Absolute fucking bullshit that cops need to be out there in riot gear.

RoXer 10-20-2004 01:01 AM

This is completely unnessisary. UNNESSESAIRY!

Boondock Saint 10-20-2004 01:03 AM

lol riot gear. Sweet. New York fans are quite classy.

Splaya 10-20-2004 01:03 AM

Yeah it's total bullshit. Congrats Yankees fan for tarnishing what could have been called one of the best series of all time.

RoXer 10-20-2004 01:03 AM

Cops are lovin their seat though probably.

Corkscrewed 10-20-2004 01:03 AM

It'd be hilarious if a line drive foul beaned a police officer.

Mientkiewicz is really the one at fault for the whole Arroyo play. He didn't go to the bag to get the throw, he kind of walked in towards the ball and made Arroyo go for the tag.

Smitty 10-20-2004 01:10 AM

By the way NYPD is reacting, you'd think it was Al Queda throwing the balls onto the field
