If people are playing local multiplayer SSF4 in front of you, you can link your 3DS in and watch so you're not that annoying guy over peoples shoulders.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-19-2011 09:49 AM

List of games that will be in the "launch window" which is before E3. Should be 30 games out by then, including:

  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Nintendogs + Cats
  • Steeldiver
  • Dead or Alive
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
  • Madden NFL
  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D
  • Asphalt 3D
  • Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • Resident Evil: The Mercenaries
  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

#BROKEN Hasney 01-19-2011 09:50 AM

PES 3D has a behind the player camera for Be A Legend mode, which should be awesome for 3D.

Europe release date: 25th March.

GAME leaked it after all.

The 3DS European relase date will be revealed on Wednesday by Jonathan Ross, according to his Twitter.

Edit: Game is selling it at £229.99. Preordered mine as soon as they put it on the site.

Friend Code info:

The Friend Code, the bane of every modern Nintendo gamer's existence, is getting a major overhaul with the release of the 3DS, allowing friends to find friends with little to none of the hair-pulling frustration that is currently involved.

Gamers who try to play online with others using the DS or the Nintendo Wii currently have to exchange a set of 16-digit numbers to connect. Sometimes they have to do so twice, depending on the game they play. And often the game doesn't remember those codes, turning an online session of gaming into something more akin to math than fun.

But the 3DS fixes some of that when it hits Japan in February and the U.S and Europe in March. The new Friend Code system will now be tied directly to the 3DS you own and there will only be one for each system, so no more secondary Friend Codes for games.

The system, Nintendo tells us, will also be able to remember the codes you put in for your Friends and track whether they are currently online or not. If they're online, one of the lights in the top right corner of the portable will glow orange to alert you.

The 3DS will have an app that tracks and can give you the current status of your friends at any given time.

And finding and becoming friends sounds like it will sometimes be easier as well. While we don't yet know if they Friend Code will be a 16-digit number, or even a number at all, we do know that you will have to exchange them just once with your friend to offer and accept a friendship on the 3DS.

But if you're connected with another friend via local wireless, you won't even have to do that. Instead you can push a button to accept or send friend requests and the 3DS will take down the number automatically and remember it.

While this new system still isn't as effortless as being able to create easy-to-remember user names and connect them with a message from anywhere, a system that both the PS3 and Xbox 360 use, it's much better than the intricacies and extra numbers of the current Wii and DS Friend Code system.

What we don't yet know, what no one at the event could yet answer for us: What format will the Friend Codes be in? Numbers or names and how long are they. And is there a cap for your friends list.

Really hope it turns out to be some kind of name rather than a number.

Kalyx triaD 01-19-2011 02:00 PM

So basically gamer IDs as we know them? Might as well get rid of 'codes' and have names. Though with how people tried to be 'clever' with their names on consoles, it may still use a coded system (and nicknames will be private).

Wonder if the Wii will adopt this.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-19-2011 02:39 PM

It's a 12 digit number. It's already present in SSF4.

I'm fine, your name will still be there, just can't ad people with it.

There is a bunch of 3DS videos at Gametrailers but whenever I embed them they cause a pop up saying someone needs to log in to the GT server.

One of the videos at GT was of that camera in action and someone in the comments mentioned something and I think it would be a success if they went for it and stupid if they didn't go for it.
Pokemon cards.

Place your cards down so the camera can see each players card, the camera reads them, creates the Pokemon on the cards in 3D and you battle. It could be popular with the younger age groups.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-20-2011 05:45 AM

Fuck younger gamers. Sign me up to that shit, I'll just print off some cards.

StarFox 64 3D port/remake going to have online play for multiplayer and a lot of other extras that the original N64 version didn't have. I think the replay level for high scores is from Star Fox Command since that is how extra characters were unlocked.

Quote:

It's not the improved take on Star Fox 64's multiplayer mode, though that's in the 3DS update and playable over a local wi-fi connection. There are new multiplayer modes and weapons in Star Fox 64 3D. It's also not the graphical overhaul of the Nintendo 64 original.

It's these additions:

* "The new Score Attack Mode allows the player to revisit any planet and play for a high score on that level."
* "New features also allow first-time players to enjoy the excitement of Star Fox."

Wow, 2 Marios and Zelda all on the same day? Seems like piss poor planning.

Emperor Smeat 01-22-2011 08:36 PM

Rumor is the June 2 date is just a place holder since Nintendo never releases that many games from their catalogue on the same day on the same system. Only Ocarina seems to be confirmed for June 2 while Star Fox isn't going to make it for June/July window.

Those $50 games might also be incorrect since its also rumored to be a pre-launch place holder Gamestop does when a new system comes out.

£200 3DS

Drakul 01-24-2011 11:18 PM

Trying to sign up to shopto to preorder but it's not working. After putting in my credit card details, I was taken back to the registration page.

I've not had a confirmation email and the £1 they take to "verify your account but will put back instantly" hasn't been put back into my account which sucks because I only had 93p in my account so I'll be overdrawn by 7p if they don't hurry up. I might end up being charged £30 odd if it's not back in there soon, which will make this £200 deal more expensive than the RRP.

Tried logging in and it's not working either.

Drakul 01-25-2011 12:55 AM

Ok, it's been nearly two hours and still no email or refund of the pound.

I looked it up and, apparantly, Shopto is a terrible site. A lot of people have had bank details stolen, been charged twice, one guy had vouchers revoked days after he used them and they had been accepted, one guy even got the Arabic version of a game.
According to one guy, Shopto has people on various forums to try and talk down these problems, to make them seem like a "legit" site. Sounds dodgey as hell.

I've changed my bank password just to be safe (I had to input them when I "signed up") though I want to do more to be safe and looks like I'll have to ask someone to forward £1 into my bank just to keep the bank off my back about being a whole 7p overdrawn.

Anyone else thinking of using Shopto because of the £200 3DS, don't.

Edit: Just found the "Email for help" function. I typed a message and it wont send it because it's "too short". How is this short?:

Quote:

Hello, I recently tried to register to your site but have had problems.
Firstly, I signed up and gave my bank details and I never got a confirmation email and when I try to log in anyway the site claims it doesn't recognize my log in details.

Another problem is that the £1 taken from my bank to verify my bank details has not been returned even though the site said it would be returned instantly. I have been waiting for four hours as of this email and it still hasn't been returned. I would appreciate it if I could be given that back. Thank you.
I've tried it as both one big paragraph and as two paragraphs. This site really is one big shitty joke.

Edit #2: Finally got it to send the email. Now to wait for either a really unhelpful reply, an automated reply or no reply at all.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-25-2011 03:38 AM

I've ordered about 8 things from shopto in the past year and had no issues at all. Probably will end up getting my 3DS there in April too.

Drakul 01-25-2011 03:57 AM

Some people say they've had no issues and others say it's an awful site. My experiance hasn't been a good one and I've not even bought anything yet so once I get my £1 back to stop me being charged by my bank, I think I'll stick with GAME or Gamestation. It's more expensive but at least I don't have to worry about any problems coming up.

In other news, Samus wont be playable in DOA Dimensions. She'll just appear from time to time on the Metroid themed stage to fight Ridely.

GAME has reduced the price they are charging for the 3DS to £219.99.

They lowered the price of SSFIV3D to £32.99 and then raised it back up to £34.99. Because I have both SF and the 3DS preordered. I'm now paying the cheaper option for both because they can't charge you more if they reduce the price after you preorder and then raise it.
