That's what I meant. Spiderman, Iron Man, Hulk etc. are mainstream. |

When are they going to reveal Silver Surfer?
|
It's true though, having Akuma would suck. Hell, why not Blanka? He's a classic character with a very different playstyle.
Which reminds me, I would love Beast. We need more McCoy in video games. As for the mainstream issue, well hell... a lot of characters haven't been mainstream. Hell, every game they make a point of including some non-mainstream characters. So, you never know. I mean really... Omega Red? Shuma Gorath? Yeah, because they're pop culture icons. |
Red may not be a pop culture icon, but they already had his sprite from children of the atom. :-\
They're doing all the graphics up new this time, so I'd really like to see more 1st timers. |
Mr. Fantastic would be perfect for this game.
|
We have Super Skrull. We don't need any of the Fantastic Four.

Though the game will be playable at PAX, TGS will get character reveals (as well as other Capcom goodies).
TGS is in a few weeks. |

Fighting gamers are some of the biggest pussies in gaming. These are supposed to be 'the hardcore'. Please.

I don't really like the fighting community either. The elitism is so annoying. Anyone that doesn't know hitbox data or stun damage or can't pull off some needlessly complex combo is a "scrub".
The hypocrisy is what really gets me though. I say how frustrating it is to play as Zangief online when the other players spam projectiles or a certain move Zangief just cannot get around and I'm called a "scrub", told to "learn to play the game" and "Stop expecting ppl to play by your personal rules!". When someone gets larieted to death by a Zangief player everyone agrees how cheap that player must have been and how spamming is for "scrubs". Anyway, I read a while ago that Zangief isn't in MvC3. Anyone know if that's true? |
There's been a lot of talk about Haggar from Final Fight as the grappler, so I don't know about Gief making it in. Grapplers don't fit well in Vs games usually (though Gief is unusually beast in MvC2). I guess we'll see.
And back on point; yeah the fighting game community are bitches. Rampant elitism, contradictions, stagnant growth; they're their own worst enemy. The MLG situation proves this in spades. The gaming community at large were pretty shamed with how Sonic fans reacted to Sonic 4, well the truth is fighting gamers are like that on a regular. They're so cynical and overly critical some people pointed out that they don't seem to like fighting games at all. Pathetic. The idea that people choose characters based on tiers is epic gay to me. The idea that the fighting game genre is somehow outside of the general gaming industry (in regard to modern design trends) is pompous. I'm glad Capcom and other companies are smarter than that, otherwise fighting games would remain in a drought. |
How many people are in the community as opposed to actually playing SSF4 online I wonder? Because SF4 and SSF4 are a monster success, and there is no way the community is millions strong.
|
Stop going to SRK.
|
I HAVE NO CHOICE
|
What, are they holding Khuntry hostage?
|
Decent info passes through time to time. And there's dudes I can talk to there about things TPWW gets pretty gay about.
Fucking trade offs. |
Wanna have gay sex?
|
What exactly does tpww get gay about?
|
When I crank it up a notch with certain fighting game lingo (any genre actually) there's some belief that I have either no idea what I'm talking about or I should shut about it anyway or both.
It's especially frustrating in this subject because somehow I'm simultaneously this huge fighting game freak while having no clue about fighting games whenever I share knowledge or ideas concerning it. It's bizarre having dudes like Bad Company or .44 (who I like) come out of nowhere almost specifically to discredit me over something fighting game related. It was subject of irl discussion with me and Khuntry, who watches shit unfold with astonishment. He advised me what Funky advises me about SRK. |
I think a couple annoying posters on here is better than the vast sea of jackassery on SRK.
|
True.
|
Eventually we will have to stage an intervention.
|
I get disappointed everytime this thread is bumped and it's not with news of a new character
|
Only intervention I need is a night life.

Jeritron, this is a life-changing moment for Kalyx, and your negativity is not appreciated.
|
Go have fun with friends. It's possible to have a normal social life and still be a huge fucking nerd in your free time.
And if you can't part from it, find friends who are also fucking huge fucking nerds and be nerds. There is no excuse for this shit. Obama is president. |
For the record, I am a massive nerd, yet I have the social life of a young Clark Gable.
|
Now that I'm older I tend to do slightly more tame, nerdy things with my friends, but I also have many friends who have nothing to do with that shit.
When I was younger I pretty much kept it in the closet and lived like Jim Morrison. |
Opposite with me. I live in a resort town, and everybody lives like they are 21. So I am still hitting the bars and housepartys a lot which is great.
On the other hand, it's ridiculously hard to find people here who have the same hobbies and interests as me, outside of the whole outdoor sports thing. |
Every time I play SSF IV local, I absolutely annihilate everybody, which is only a fraction more fun than getting destroyed online.

Then there's the rock show and apartment party demographic. I enjoy the diversity immensely. Houseparties are definitely a forgotten art around here for the most part though, which is a shame because I loved them. Boston is only 20 minutes away so ever since 21 the houseparties have slowly but surely been assimilated by the city bars, or even local dives. And I won't stop going on a tangent about my life until you post a new character so don't even ask |
That's what I had back home and I miss it a lot. However, a lot of the "go out to the bars" groups have since drifted away from eachother, and rarely even go out anymore. Probably because several of the women in each group got knocked up.
|
Could never do the solitary nerd thing. Love going out and meeting new people too much.
|
There is nothing where I am. The action is in Miami, which is why I post less when I visit.

Wonder if things will play out with no dialogue like Subspace Emissary. |
