Alomar is his only competition. Delgado's stats blow Carter's away.

Damian Rey 04-14-2011 12:06 AM

Delgado's best year came in a Blue Jays uniform. It's not even debatable. That guy was an absolute beast. Gert, doesn't he own the longest homerun at Rogers? I remember seeing highlights of him absolutely murdering balls out there.

On a winning note, Padres came back to beat the Reds 3 to 2 today. Reds lineup worked Tim Stauffer for 4.1 innings on 99 pitches. That's insane. Orlando Hudson clutched up again and lined a single into left to salvage a win.

Padres are going on a road trip where they'll see hitter friendly Minute Maid Park and Wrigley Field. Hopefully the offense gets going and builds some momentum.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-14-2011 02:16 AM

Chapman's arm is messed up. :(

Topped out at 94 today.

I'm 99% sure it's Jose Canseco. Delgado pretty much holds every Blue Jay hitting record.

Jesus fucking Christ Mets...

ClockShot 04-14-2011 06:44 PM

Pedro Feliciano got a torn capsule in his left shoulder and is leaning toward surgery. His season's probably over. He'll get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews. DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

I guess Cashman wasn't far off saying the Mets overworked the hell out of him.

Evil Vito 04-14-2011 07:24 PM

Everybody in the world knew Feliciano was overworked. Yanks were the only team dumb enough to fork over a multiyear deal for him.

Anyway, Troy Tulowitzki is probably winning the NL MVP this year. The game is on Rookie mode for him.

Skippord 04-14-2011 07:27 PM

whoa just looked at the summary for the 2nd game

Johnny Herrera hit a home run and I will never forgive the Rockies for not airing this game now.

Droford 04-14-2011 10:38 PM

How long until Colon is in the Yankees rotation?

and damnit I cant see the Os holding on to this lead...it was 5-0 and now its 5-4 in the 8th.

Damian Rey 04-14-2011 11:29 PM

Padres down 1-0 to the 'Stros. Hoe the fuck they couldn't touch Bud Norris and his sorry 8 point something ERA for ONE LOUSY RUN is immense. Norris didn't allow a hit after the 1st inning.

Poor odl Dustin Moseley is working on what could be his 3rd consequtive gem, and he's going to lose. Ugh...

Innovator 04-15-2011 12:11 AM

THATS why Joba put the weight on, great play.

Damian Rey 04-15-2011 12:24 AM

Great job, Padres. Take a 1-0 loss on the road against a team that, I believed, was giving up an average of 6 runs per game. Moseley can't catch a fucking break.

Keep telling myself it's early, but they worked Bud Norris' sorry as for a shit ton of pitches, and they couldn't push one run across. Not one. Off of a medicore at best pitcher.

I'm not expecting this team to pull 90 wins out of their ass like they did last year, but if they are going to play .500 ball, they HAVE to beat shit teams like the Astros. What a fucking downer, Padres.

RP 04-15-2011 01:23 AM

I fucking am. I picked the Padres to win the world series. Lol

Nobody held a gun to Cashman's head to force him to sign Feliciano. Should've checked him out 100% before sigining him.

 Why on earth would you do that? My friend was clamoring about how good they were last year, and, even without Gonzalez, the lineup looks a little more balanced. That's all fine and dandy, and, when they actually decide to show up to the ball park with their bats, might end up being true, last year was a pretty big fluke.

With that said, I am praying they split the series with the 'Stros. They need to just make some fucking contact and hope for good things to happen. My varsity coach always preached that, when you're slumping mercilessly, just focus on making contact, and good things will start to come.

ClockShot 04-15-2011 02:44 PM

Adrian Gonzalez and the Red Sox agree to a 7-year, $154 mil. deal.

Carl Crawford is probably going "awwwwwwwwww shit!"

Miotch 04-15-2011 03:33 PM

probably the best thing coco crisp has ever done on a baseball field

Gertner 04-15-2011 03:49 PM

Jays and Sox 4 game series. Jays are trotting out Cecil, Reyes and Litsch for the first three. This should end well.

MVP 04-15-2011 04:35 PM

Maybe the Sox will show up to play this weekend...maybe.

Evil Vito 04-15-2011 05:58 PM

Supposedly Crisp's afro is only gonna be temporary. That's a shame. I'd love to see him keep it all season.

Evil Vito 04-15-2011 06:03 PM

Francesa said that today will be the last day he talks about the Mets unless they improve or something major happens. Direct quote: "They are awful and their season is over."

Good. Hope that fat fuck sticks to his promise since any discussion he has on the Mets turns into mindless drivel anyway. Shame that station didn't stick a Pro-Mets voice alongside him.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-15-2011 06:25 PM

I'm actually thinking of starting Jair Jurgens in one of my fantasy teams vs. the Mets tomorrow since he's coming off the DL.

Go Red Sox

ClockShot 04-15-2011 08:02 PM

Yankees put Phil Hughes on the DL. Got a case of the dead arm.

Bartolo Colon will step in to take his place.

Damian Rey 04-15-2011 09:41 PM

Interesting. I wonder how Colon is going to fair. As a long/mop up reliever, he's serviceable. I have concerns for his stamina, and most importantly, his stuff. He's a fastball first type of pitcher, and sitting in the high 80s/low 90s, he's going to really have to command the zone. We shall see...

Droford 04-15-2011 10:04 PM

The Orioles are back to being complete sacks of garbage..oh well.

Evil Vito 04-15-2011 10:13 PM

Mets to play a double-header tomorrow despite playing one on Thursday and traveling to Atlanta 2 more times this season. What a bunch of crap.

Gertner 04-15-2011 11:57 PM

Jon Rauch to close for the Jays up 7-6 in the 9th.

Gertner 04-16-2011 12:00 AM

JAAAAAAAAAYS WIN!!!!! Blow me Boston!

Damian Rey 04-16-2011 12:29 AM

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!!!!! Padres beat the 'Stros 4 to 2. Aaron Harang goes 6 full to clinch his 3rd consequtive victory, as well as his 3rd straight start of allowing just one earned run.

Ryan Ludwick knocked in what ended up being the game winning runs with a 2 run single in the 7th. That has to feel good considering his struggles thus far. I'm hoping that wakes him up and gets him going.

Evil Vito 04-16-2011 01:43 AM

Wonder if Theo held onto the receipt for Crawford.

 I'm sure Crawford will be fine. I think he's feeling pressure to perform to lofty standards. Just needs to go out there and play his game. Things will turn up.

Emperor Smeat 04-16-2011 02:18 AM

It will take about a year for Crawford to figure out how to play balls off the Green Monster defensive-wise like how Manny became an expert at placement and predicting where the balls would hit and land.

He's struggling hitting wise but the bigger problem is half the lineup is struggling (bottom half barely is over .200 for most hitters) while the bullpen is wasting the slow improvement of the starters.

RP 04-16-2011 09:07 AM

Can the Cubs just pitch Zambrano every game until he blows up or his.arm blows up

Gertner 04-16-2011 03:09 PM

Jo Jo Reyes is so terrible. The sooner Morrow gets back the better.

Anybody Thrilla 04-16-2011 06:55 PM

How about those Cincinnati Redlegs?

ClockShot 04-16-2011 09:26 PM

Freddy Garcia chalks up his first win in pinstripes. Gardner must have been half asleep while on the basees today. Got picked off and gunned down.

Evil Vito 04-16-2011 10:42 PM

Down 3-0 with no outs, Daniel Murphy (not a fast runner) is thrown out trying to steal 3rd. What the fuck.

The dumbfuck baserunning mistakes are back. The terrible fielding is back. The inability to throw strikes is back. The uncertainty of injuries and failure to communicate them is back (Chris Young randomly gets his start pushed back by 2 days for a minor injury. Every Mets fan in the world says "watch he'll be on the DL soon". Well whaddya know, he's DL'ed within 24 hours).

Just awful. They are playing like a 100 loss team. And with the Wilpons at the helm ready to make rash decisions to appease the fan base now instead of allowing for a badly-needed rebuild, the worst is yet to come.

Damian Rey 04-16-2011 11:53 PM

Yea...the Mets ARE a 100 loss team. Well, maybe not 100. But pretty close. I feel for you, man. Chris Young was a huge injury risk. He's great wjhen he's not on the DL eating payroll.

Damian Rey 04-16-2011 11:58 PM

Also, Latos decided to unravel in the 7tth, giving up some walks after punching out Brett Wallace to start the inning. Game was tied at 3-3 to start the 7th, and the 'Stros put up two more in that same inning to take the lead and put the game away.

Chase Headley hit a hanging curve ball 430 plus feet to center, for a stand up, 2 run double.

I could get all riled up about this loss, but at least they're starting to score, squaring up on pitches, and getting some hits. The game could have looked completely different had Hunter Pence's goody self not made a spectacular catch to start the 9th. He robbed Nick Hundley of a for sure leadoff double, possibly a triple. Back to bakc hits ensued, which would have meant at least a 5-4 game with two on and no one out.

So yea, positives are, they are putting the bat on the ball and creating scoring chances. Just a matter of putting it all together. If the Padres score 4 runs a game, I guarentee you they will win no less than 60% of the time. Pitching staff is far too good to lose games with that sort of run support.
