Not really. Miz's Tough Enough was just segments on Smackdown. Don't think they ever lived together.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2016 01:11 AM

Kind of miss Swagger's old theme

Lock Jaw 09-14-2016 01:12 AM

Love his current one, but feel like it has been "ruined" via being associated with Jobber Jack for so long......

Simple Fan 09-14-2016 01:19 AM

Every time the guy says We the People and places his hand on his heart, that's patriotic. Is it not? The guy hasn't done anything since Rusev and tonight was the first time he's got to show any character and I liked what I seen.

Dewidi 09-14-2016 01:38 AM

Can someone explain to me how an styles can even be in the title hunt much less champ I'm starting to wonder about the wwe first Kevin Owens now styles. Its as bad as tna

Volare 09-14-2016 01:39 AM

To be fair, what Miz match have you ever watched and thought the same thing.

As for promos, I do like Miz a lot, but it's not as if he's got a catalogue of all-time great promos to his name like the best do. People usually refer to the same three things - the WrestleMania music video that was made for him, the one promo on Raw when he started backstage and walked to the ring talking about being treated like shit, and the one on Daniel Bryan.

So Jack Swagger is going to be given a shot on SmackDown. Do you think they'll put him over Baron Corbin, or is this just a change of scenery for Jobber Jack? I hope he brings in his hot wife to face off with The Miz's hot wife. It's just missing Karl Anderson with his Hot Asian Wife.

Did Curt Hawkins return? I thought that was supposed to be a thing? At this point they might as well keep putting it off, because then at least people will know that he is a heel.

I like John Cena and Dean Ambrose both going for the title. These are pretty much In Your House shows, so they're kind of there to spin the wheels, and the match itself will be amazing.

I guess Alexa Bliss is the #1 Contender for the Women's Championship. It would have made more sense to give it to Natalya to close her feud with Becky, but I suppose that will keep until the Survivor Series, and they need to strike while people are still raving about Alexa Bliss' look. I still expect Nikki Bella vs. Carmella to be added.

Heath Slater & Rhyno defending the Tag Team Titles a lot is the way to go. They have to look like fighting champs and cram a few defenses in before they drop the belts to The Usos at No Mercy. I imagine that Rhyno will then turn on Slater and we'll get The Man Beast putting The Red Dragon over during the winter months.

He is announced as being a Real American, puts his hand over his chest so that every American within the sound of the ring announcer's voice rises and says along with them "We the People." He's the modern day Jim Duggan, except instead of winning the first-ever Royal Rumble he's a "former World Heavyweight Champion."

Mr. Nerfect 09-14-2016 06:55 AM

He's an American guy like John Cena is an American guy or Hulk Hogan was an American guy or JBL was an American guy or Bubba Ray Dudley was an American guy. If a rotten heel says something bad about America, you can bet Jack Swagger isn't too far from the scene to lose to whoever insults his great nation.

I think his last actually feud was with DEl Rio and that guy on in the wheel chair. He was all pro American there.

To be fair, he hasn't been in a actual feud since. Kind of hard to have a gimmick when you come out once every two months to job to someone.

You forgot the week after he cashed in MITB and won the title which involved showing reaction shots of "Miz girl" being pissed off.

His most recent promo had very little to do with patriotism outside of the chant. The one from yesterday.

Anybody Thrilla 09-14-2016 01:07 PM

In fact, he mentioned The Rolling Stones (UK) and having a hot wife (JPN).

Anybody Thrilla 09-14-2016 01:09 PM

He also mentioned 'being a problem' (ISIS).

Big Vic 09-14-2016 01:09 PM

Let's not look to far into a shitty Jack Swagger promo.

Anybody Thrilla 09-14-2016 01:09 PM

Not very American to me. He's just trying to leech off of something's previous popula--...

Oh, now I get it.

The same way I don't know the name of the person tagging with Ryder right now.

Anybody Thrilla 09-14-2016 02:11 PM

I never thought I would say this either, but I think Mojo Rawley has potential.

Frank Drebin 09-14-2016 02:18 PM

Everytime I see Maryse I get the urge to look at her old Playboy pics or watch that video of her in the FCW bikini contest.

It was still a version of Tough Enough. What does living together have to do with it?

Cool King 09-14-2016 07:17 PM

• The opening promo was great and this Cena, I like, but I don't know what Cena did to get a title shot. Anyway, if that promo between the three of them is anything to go by, the weeks leading to No Mercy and the event itself should be good.

• Another great promo between Miz and Ziggler. I actually hope Miz retains at No Mercy and we can see some big developments with Ziggler. He's been good so far, but I just feel a change of some kind is needed. He's spoken about it before but nothing has come of it.

• Corbin vs Crews, cool. But Swagger is on SmackDown! Sure, he looked like he was having some sort of midlife crisis and misses the good ol' days of 2001, with his backwards cap, baggy jeans and a chain hanging out of his pocket, but Swagger on SmackDown is great to see. I really hope this goes somewhere and he isn't just on SmackDown now to job to Corbin. If he is, then hopefully he can make Corbin interesting, because God knows Corbin can't do that himself.

• I can't help but feel that Becky Lynch is somewhat on the "generic face" side. I want to like her and she is good in the ring, but my God keep her away from a mic. Her voice just grates on me. She sounds like she smokes 40 a day. I know she can't help that, but maybe give her a manager to do all the talking for her or something. I dunno.

Also, I'm so happy that Bliss won. Really really happy. Do I think she'll win the title? At this moment in time, no. But that could change and if she is unsuccessful, the journey to get to the title match will be valuable training for her, both in the ring and on the mic. I'm really looking forward to what's to come.

• Seeing the SmackDown Tag Team Championships actually being carried around shows how good they look. They're so much better that Raw's. It's great that the crowd are so behind Slater and his story, even cheering him getting a bigger trailer. The Ascension was a surprise but job they did.

• Finally, I'm pretty disappointed that Hawkins' re-debut was just a backstage segment. I was really looking forward to seeing him in the ring.

Anyway, SmackDown was great as always these days. It's been the number one show in my eyes since SummerSlam. SmackDown just feels more "natural" so to speak. It's flows better and it feels like a totally different show to Raw, in a good way. Raw just feels like a chore to watch and I feel like I'm watching it now purely out of habit, whereas with SmackDown, I legitimately look forward to watching it and the fact that it's only two hours makes a huge difference.

Cool King 09-14-2016 07:24 PM

Also, it was pretty funny that Slater's "Fact Section" or whatever you want to call it on his nameplate, said "Has 7 Kids (That He Knows Of)"

It was part of the drama/tension. It wasn't reality TV without it.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2016 08:14 PM

That wasn't the point of the original statement, though..... the statement said they both came from Tough Enough. Yes, different versions of Tough Enough, but still Tough Enough. Statement wasn't that they both came from reality TV.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2016 08:15 PM

Although Miz did come from reality TV before Tough Enough.

Maybe he is dropping the gimmick then? No idea. He had it in his last actual feud though and that is what everyone sees him as. It will change if his gimmick changes.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-14-2016 08:48 PM

Did Raw fire him after not hindering Jinder?

He came from the 5th major sport, the Real World/Road Rules Challenge.

Big Vic 09-15-2016 12:18 PM

I wonder why Cena is so mad at Dean.... a bit Heelish.

Dewidi 09-15-2016 10:42 PM

by the miz refusing to defend his i-c title he is in breach of the champions clause with states a title must be defended ever 30 days and him attacking that jabroni he forgets in owv and his early wwe days that jabroni was him morrison carried that team until miz bulked up and got better.

I definitely agree with Cool King that SD! LIVE has been the "A" show since the Draft. Everything just seems more organic and flows better, IMHO. RAW right now really seems to be sufferin g from an identity crisis right now, with too many appearances on-screen by authority figures and WAY too many jobber squash matches. Clash of Champions not looking so hot right now IMO.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-16-2016 07:33 AM

The head writer of Smackdown was the writer of NXT. Had no previous TV or wrestling experience before he got a job with them, was just a fan and now he's doing some great work. Happy for him.

Innovator 09-16-2016 09:04 AM

Even if you're a ricockulous;y huge fan, lie when you get interviewed.

I think they were specifically looking for an apprentice. He went and shadowed people on the main brand before getting the NXT gig.

You can hardly say SDL doesn't over do the GM/Commisioner appearances.
