The Gold Standard 04-20-2009 10:26 PM

I hate it when the majority of the games are rained out

YOUR Hero 04-21-2009 09:59 AM

Time to go back to domed stadiums with astroturf

The Gold Standard 04-21-2009 11:06 AM

Well I would not mind retractable roof, like in Seattle

Evil Vito 04-21-2009 12:07 PM

Ever since I was going to see Pedro Martinez pitch a Saturday night game against the Rangers last year with seats 4 rows behind home plate that I'll never even come close to again, only for it to get rained out with a day-night doubleheader the next day (meaning I lost my tickets and could only get a refund)...I've felt every stadium should have a retractable roof :o

Shame that adds hundreds of millions to the cost and would negate the need to ever have double headers.

Loose Cannon 04-21-2009 05:17 PM

Chris Russo  has been all over Citifield for having loads of Jackie Robinson stuff it in and no real history of The Mets. He's kind of right. Robinson had no history with the Mets, but the owner grew up a Brooklyn fan.

For those that don't know, Chris used to be from the famous Mike and the Mad dog talk show based out of NY.

Loose Cannon 04-21-2009 05:19 PM

also, people are starting to question the way Yankee Stadium was built because it seems to be homerun haven thus far

fucking lazy pop flys are sailing out.

probably just due to certain Yankee pitchers throwing sinkers that don't sink though.

YOUR Hero 04-21-2009 05:22 PM

What are the dimensions?

Yeah, pisses me off. But the fans have complained and so they are adding more stuff. There's gonna be some sort of Mets museum added in, and Dwight Gooden signed part of the wall in Citi Field or something, so they are gonna move that and get other prominent Mets from the past to sign it also.

I miss Mad Dog. He at least countered some of Mike's bullshit.

Loose Cannon 04-21-2009 05:36 PM

I got Sirius/XM, so I listen to him everyday when I leave work.

I listen to Mike and Mike in the morning (in the morning)

The dimensions are supposed to be EXACTLY the same as the old stadium. Sure doesn't seem to be playing that way, though.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-21-2009 06:56 PM

Has anyone else noticed that Zach Greinke is 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 26 Ks?

AAAAAND, he also didn't give up a run his final two starts last season so he's currently thrown 34 consecutive scoreless innings.

Loose Cannon 04-21-2009 07:34 PM

yep, I noticed. This guy came on the radio yesterday and basically said Greinke was nothing special and he could hit off of him. I swear, he wasn't joking around either. he was about 40ish and I guess insane.

but yea, that's an awesome performance thus far.

Yeah, supposedly its the same dimensions. Although as if RF wasn't already a perfect hitters spot the OF wall seems to be a couple feet shorter. That Posada HR the other day that was contested probably wouldn't have went out in the old stadium.

RoXer 04-21-2009 08:39 PM

I read somewhere that Dan Haren was 0-3 with like a 1.30 era and that the d-backs scored like 1 run in his 3 outings.

RoXer 04-21-2009 08:41 PM

Speaking of new stadiums, it will always be retarded that there will be no roof in Minnesota.

Big Fat Mike 04-21-2009 09:53 PM

Wonder how the twinkies are going to play in 2 feet of snow in early april? Or sub zero temperatures in october?

Evil Vito 04-21-2009 11:15 PM

Mets blow a 4-0 lead as Daniel Murphy continues to be a terrible fielder. I know he's a natural 3B but come on now...Ryan Braun didn't have this bad of a transition...in fact I don't think Braun's committed an error in left.

YOUR Hero 04-21-2009 11:22 PM

yeah I thought they had said the dimensions were the same....

Supreme Olajuwon 04-22-2009 12:57 AM

Apparently there's a theory that the gradual slope of the seats at the stadium creates a launching ramp for wind to shoot out the opening in right field. So it'll be kinda like Wrigley. When the wind is blowing out to right field, balls are going to fly.

And when you look at a picture of the stadium like this, it actually seems feasible.

RatedGSuperstar 04-22-2009 09:20 AM

Please. Get Jorge Julio off the fucking roster.

Either that or change his entrance music to Doink the Clown's.

Triple Naitch 04-22-2009 10:25 AM

Ryan Doumit out 8-10 weeks. I didn't think my fantasy team could get any worse.

parkmania 04-22-2009 05:28 PM

Naitch, what the hell, man. Are you in an NL-only league or something? There's no reason for anyone outside of Pittsburgh to have a Pirate on their team, with the possible exception of Matt Capps. I should know - I've suffered through 2 seasons of Freddy "Dirty" Sanchez, and was free to let someone else draft him this year. In '06 I had to suffer with Adam LaRoche :(

Oh, BTW, what's up with the Marlins? They let us sweep them out of the building!

YOUR Hero 04-22-2009 08:25 PM

Better check Doumit's stats, parkmania.

parkmania 04-22-2009 08:44 PM

OK, so last year he was out of his skull with a top 10 finish among catchers in HR and RBI, and top 5 in AVG and runs scored. I guess I'm still equating him to the guy that is a career .277 hitter with just over 1 HR per 10 games. He still strikes me as mid-range at best until he can put another season like '08.

ClockShot 04-22-2009 09:14 PM

prick almost kept the Rockies out of the playoffs two years ago

I hate Jorge Julio and everything he stands for

Where did you hear this, because it seems reasonable. It is crazy how homeruns are flying out of the park in Yankee Stadium

Loose Cannon 04-23-2009 11:35 AM

did you see yesterday? Another one that was a lazy pop fly that went out. The umps got together because they though it was fan interferance again, but they didn't coclude it was.

Innovator 04-23-2009 11:43 AM

Yeah it wasn't fan interference when the fan reached out over the wall and caught it

Loose Cannon 04-23-2009 11:46 AM

yea, this instant replay thing is bogus. both times it was clearly fan interferance and the umps said no. what the fuck? does the fan have to leap over the wall for them to call it?

You're forgetting something, parkman. He is a catcher. A .277 average is top 5 for a catcher. He is very valuable for a catcher. Did I mention that he is a top 5 catcher? Check yourself, son.

Evil Vito 04-23-2009 05:46 PM

lol wow...awful. Livan was atrocious, and he's on tap to start Tuesday for my first ever game at Citi Field :o

Jeritron 04-23-2009 06:05 PM

They should probably do something about Yankee Stadium.

Gertner 04-23-2009 07:02 PM

ugh, two more jays pitchers on the d/l.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-23-2009 07:28 PM

Reds taking 2 of 3 from the Cubs at Wrigley.

Marty Brennaman said it best. There's nothing quite as satisfying as beating this team at this park and watching these fans shut the hell up.

Loose Cannon 04-23-2009 07:59 PM

any of you guys ever done something like this and think it's worth it?

http://www.broachsportstours.com/baseball/

I'm thinking about doing the Yankee one in July. (Washington Nationals game  ) My wife's never been to a Professional baseball game before and I haven't been to Yankee Stadium since I moved to NC. Dunno if that price is worth it though.

Indifferent Clox 04-23-2009 10:50 PM

pick me a team to root for send it to me via rep message

Gertner 04-23-2009 11:14 PM

jays baby!
