Garret is a shitty coach

Jack Del Rio wins the head coaching job at Oakland. Typical dumb Oakland move.

@Inno re: Gronk
I don't think they talked about it on the podcast, I'm pretty sure it was in last week's mailbag |
Q: Hey Bill, I knew you were a HUGE Gronkowski fan. I just never pegged you as the type of guy to ghost-write erotica about him.
—Ross, Los Angeles BS: Congrats to Ross for being the 3,000th reader to send me some variation of this joke. Is it weird that “A Gronking To Remember” gave me more confidence that the Patriots could make the Super Bowl? Can’t you see Lacey Noonan at media day trying to get a one-on-one with Gronk as three middle-aged reporters in Hawaiian shirts look on awkwardly? |
Oh it was on Fighter and the Kid, thinking back on it

Dick LeBeau resigned from Pittsburgh. I would love it if Elway could somehow get him to come over. Give the Defense an immediate kick in the ass. |
49ers hired Jim Tomsula as their new head coach. Was promoted from his defensive lines coach job.

Hope this isn't like 2007, where Moss was put up with bullshit charges the week before the Superbowl.

Welcome back Spags

Luck will find a way this week. The Colts are going to the Superbowl.

Hope everything coaching wise gets settled soon. The only story after Sunday in the NFL should be the Super Bowl. They should have a no moves until the Super Bowl is over. Distracting playoff bound coordinators with interviews negatively effects the teams they are still working for.
|
Can a coach interview while he's still working for a team who is alive in the playoffs? I thought teams had to wait until a coaches season was over.
|
They can get permission technically. Rarely happens.
|
I always thought that was strange, how coaches on teams can actively pursue other gigs. It's their prerogative, sure, to try and get a better job, but to me as a player I would think, "This coach already has his foot out the door, why should I listen to anything he says?" or whatever. I don't know. Paid professionals I guess
|
I feel like announcers have talked about a v different coordinator interviewing for a coach job in every playoff game so far. Seems odd that teams would allow that. I'd rather have the staff focusing on the games.

But I'm so pumped from a nostalgia standpoint that I love the move. |
Yeah but still

What a weird perspective
|
Believe it or not, and I do not believe it.
STD is 100% right in this regard. All coaching interview should take place after the Super Bowl. I think it's an unfair distraction for playoff teams. |
Yeah, it's pretty dumb for all the reasons stated.
|
I don't want Gary Kubiak as a coach. Hope someone else comes along.
|
I'm with you. I want Kubiak to stay in Baltimore

I never imagined Kubiak staying in Baltimore more than two years given the head coaching volatility in the nfl and his experience so if he leaves whatever i guess.
|
I think he could have. He almost had a stroke during a game with the Texans. Less stress being number two.

Adam Gase officially interviewed for the Broncos job. Sounds like the interview went very well, enough so that Teryl Austin has pulled his name from consideration when he was going to interview today I believe. This complicates things for Denver as they can't hire Gase until they fulfill the Rooney Rule requirements, so they are now reaching out to Bengals secondary coach Vance Joseph in what could wind up being little more than a token interview.
I get why the Rooney Rule was put into place but stuff like this just makes it seem like a joke especially if it winds up essentially boiling down to an internal promotion. |

Pagano with the classic Belicheat move of listing Vontae and Greg Toler as questionable. I'm pretty sure those guys are playing.
|
They should do the same thing the Pats did to Baltimore last week.
