FWIW it's been reported in a few places that Mox isn't going to Japan during the pandemic. Not sure if it's because Khan won't let his talent go over or he doesn't want to take the risk.

So either everything's being kept under wraps or NJPW's gonna have to strip him of the title or work a deal for KENTA to take the belt off of him stateside.

I've enjoyed Moxely but Omega as a cocky heel champion is way more interesting, and that's why I hope he wins tomorrow. Moxely can go off in a feud against whoever jumped him.

Format or wrestling-wise?

I think you might get two different answers in the end. Format-wise, probably the same as a best case scenario but wrestling or action-wise, probably worse since the amount of people who like that style of wrestling is a lot smaller these days.

Worst case is that style of show creates a NXT-like situation where the core audience is very old and the youth base is too shaky for future success. That's not a real problem for NXT since their success or failure doesn't rely on needing to build a brand new core audience and can just pool from WWE's existing audience for viewers.

Biggest problem for promotions these days is wrestling TV ratings have been going downwards for years and mainly due to WWE's stagnation and inability to improve as the leader of the industry. For better or worse, people currently associate wrestling with WWE so when WWE is terrible, tv wrestling in general suffers and will keep doing so until another WCW-like rival is around. AEW is still several years away of being that potential real rival while both ROH and Impact failed to ever reach that level.

Some weeks the athleticism at this professional wrestling start-up is more exciting than anything happening in Vince McMahon’s empire. And no one in the WWE has this kid’s combination of diction (Juilliard by way of Long Island), intensity or cheesiness, either. Even when Friedman’s lost his cool (his nom de ring is MJF), he still has astounding control. The character is part heel, part tool (hair gel, loafers, Burberry bling — tacky, tacky, tacky) and part goodfella wannabe; his mouth does more running than he does. For reasons only the producers of this show can explain, a long segment in October between MJF and the veteran Chris Jericho culminated in a version of “Me and My Shadow” complete with dancing women and live singing. It was less than spectacular, though not for anything Friedman did. He wasn’t embarrassed at all. He was smooth in a way that should worry Ric Flair. This kid makes you wanna say, “Woo!”

Excited at the possibility of John Silver and Hornswoggle working together during this merger of AEW and Impact. Maybe they can team together and pull off some twin magic.
