Oh sure... the Sox win the game that I wasn't at tonight.
Setting the stage for the final day of the year:
-Rays hold the AL East tiebreaker over the Yanks. Yanks can only win the division with a win and a Rays loss. Rays win the East in any other scenario. -If the Padres and Braves both win, there will be a crazy three-way tiebreaker for the first time ever. Giants/Pads for the NL West on Monday and the loser/Braves for the NL Wild Card on Tuesday......worth noting that the loser of Monday's game would have to fly cross-country to Atlanta. -If the Padres win and the Braves lose, the Padres win the West and the Giants get the Wild Card. |
If Bautista can steal 1 more base (to give him 10) he wuld join only Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds as the only players to ever hit 50+ hrs, be walked 100+ times, have 30+ doubles and 10+ steals
I'm really hoping for a 3-Way tiebreaker tomorrow and Tuesday.
I want to see Pat Burrell play a crucial role everything.
Which he will. |
Mets/Nats in the 11th. Game has featured loads of double-switches and overmanaging in general. Dunn and Pudge are out of the game. Reyes and Wright were pulled in the 9th so they could get curtain calls.
The announcers so blatantly just want to get out of there. I love it. |
Come on Phillies, you can do it.
stupid faggot Phillies hate you
Really want the Pads to win here. 164-game season would rule.
God dammit Phillies. Giants better pull this out.
Yanks settle for the Wild Card but probably breathe a sigh of relief at not having to face Cliff Lee.
lol jesus. Onto the 14th. Oliver Perez coming in so it shouldn't last much longer.
Aubrey Huff is the most underrated player in baseball.
Ollie strikes out the first batter he faces before hitting a batter and walking 3 to force in the run. Gets replaced as the fans rip him to no end.
No matter how good or bad the year was, it's always a little sad when that last game of the year wraps up. :(
Let's go Giants!
woooo this is awesome.
Don't watch too much MLB, and usually only watch the Gaints and A's casually, but I had been following the Giants over the past 3 months or so. Looks I'll be watching baseball in October for the first time in years |
YESSSSSSSSS
good for the Giants, even if they are a bunch of whiny pussies

We'll have to face Cliff Lee at some point if we advance cause I'm making a assumption right now. That Texas will win the first round against Tampa. |
Order I'm pulling for the teams in the playoffs:
1. Reds 2. Rangers 3. Rays 4. Giants 5. Twins Honestly, those 5 are in no real order outside of the top two for "shock" value. I'd be pumped if any of them won. 6. Braves Divisional rival winning it all would suck, but Cox at least deserves a good sendoff. 7. Phillies 8. Yankees I hate the Phillies more than the Yankees, the ONLY reason I'd put the Phils ahead of the Yanks is because I don't have to deal with Phils fans. Annoyed the shit out of me last year when I saw nobody wearing Yankee gear at school all season until the day after they won the WS. Basically, I'm just rooting for there not being a Yankees/Phillies World Series again. I barely watched any of it last year. It's really hard to see anybody but the Phillies coming out of the NL...Yanks have stiffer competition at least. |
AL is really a crap shoot. Whoever decides to show up can easily take it.
That didn't take long to make it official. Omar and Jerry out.
1. Rays
2. Twins 3. Giants 4. Rangers 5. Reds 6. Phillies 7. Yankees 8. Braves |
Congrats to Mark Reynolds for not only falling under the Mendoza line, but for having for strikeouts than he had batting average points (211 to .198). That is an epic season.
1. Reds
2. Twins 3. Rangers 4. Rays 5. Yankees 6. Giants 7. Braves 8. Phillies Don't really have beef with any teams this year. |
I'd very much like to see a Twins-Red World Series. I really don't have any beefs aside from the Yankees and Rays though.
Any team will do against them. Yankees/Rays ALCS would be unwatchable. I really hope that doesn't happen. If the Yankees must make the World Series I'd like to see a different team than Philly this, as I don't want to root for them very much and I'd be forced to. Sorry McLegend |
Yeah my only beef with Philly is that they've been there and I wanna see something else.
As Vito pointed out Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel got canned in Queens today.
In other news, Brewers part ways with manager Ken Macha. Pirates fire manager John Russell. Dusty Baker got himself a contract extension with the Reds. Tigers won't pick up Magglio Ordonez's option. D-Backs will keep manager Kirk Gibson around on a 2-year deal. And last, but not least, the Rakuten Golden Eagles out of Japan posted pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma up for bidding. |
Twins/Reds
...I think it's awesome the Rangers won the AL West and made the Playoffs considering they were in a tough situation this year...they were sold, they couldn't make any significant trades, and Hamilton was hurt for the last month of the season.
It's also great to see teams like the Rays, the Giants, the Twins and the Reds in the Playoffs...not the usual teams. And last but not least, it's great that the Braves got in, in what is Bobby Cox's last year, and with a team that isn't as star-studded as some of the Braves teams of the '90s. I believe the World Series will be a rematch of the Yankees and Phillies, but I would love it if the Rangers got in, as well as the Braves. |
