RP 10-12-2005 08:41 PM

o here we go. Whining about injuries already.

Gonzo 10-12-2005 08:52 PM

All that matters at the end of the season is who has the most W's and who wins the Superbowls. After that stupid ass shit like how tough your teams schedule was is irrelevant.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-12-2005 09:27 PM

Colts have a good chance of being 7-0 when they play the Patriots. Man I really hope the Patriots man up and beat the Colts again. Would be great. Colts are real good this year though and the Patriots aren't as good as they have been. Should be interesting.

RP 10-12-2005 09:32 PM

It should be a heck of a game.

RP 10-12-2005 09:46 PM

I really think other teams think the Colts offense is struggling. I doubt that will be the case with the Pats, but people are gunna realise real soon that if they arent dropping 7 back, we'll be throwing over there heads and if they are dropping 7 back, we'll run it down there throats and play ball controll.

Thats the key difference of Indy this year. Last year they lacked patience. In that New England game when you guys were dropping 7 back for most of the game, Manning tried to force the issue. Instead of taking what we were giving and running it down your throars, which we actually did in the first game of the season. Well now teams are basically doing the same thing New England did in the playoffs and the Colts are exercising a little patience and running the ball almost 60% of the time. Sure the games are a little closer, but only because thats what teams are giving us. If they try to stop the run, they will get burned. Theres no question.

So the real question on November 7th will be whether or not New Englands front 4 can stop the run, because if they cant then its gunna be a long night.

( VEL will take this as a insult and call me an idiot )

RP 10-12-2005 09:53 PM

And i'm not sure what answer New England's O-line will have for the Colts front 4 ( who might be the best in the league by then ).

Corey Simon is a monster and once he's in perfect game shape theres no telling what he could do. Freeney and Mathis are probably the fastest outside rushers in the league. We have so much depth there too. Brock, Triplett, Raegor. One thing San Fransico did really well was they ran alot of draw plays, but eventually the Dline got to Smith reguardless and the Colts stopped the run when they had to.

Frank Gore isnt Corey Dillon, but i think Gores running style is alot more suited for draw plays. I think Dillon is a little more of a tweener. I'm not sure the Pats can get away with drawn play after draw play. Thats all the 49ers did too.

Screen plays ( which New England are really good at ) could kill Indy's speed, but giving the fact that Indy has a bye week before the game, there should be no excuse not to be ready for those.

This game will be special.

The Outlaw 10-13-2005 10:59 AM

Minnesota's boat party I'm guessing, haha

VonErich Lives 10-14-2005 05:39 PM

So, Tedy Bruschi has been practicing with the Patriots for 1-2 weeks. He can't do drills, since he's on the PUP list.

If he comes back strong that's huge, I just don't know if he really should.

3 rings, money, family... should he risk it?

The argument being talked about is the Doctors told him there was no more risk by playing football then their is walking down the street, if he's going to have an issue it will happen no matter what.

There word is, he's going to need some waiver or huge insurance policy to play.

I dunno, gives me Reggie Lewis flashbacks, but in his case he was told NOT to play, and his wife kept shopping till they found a doctor that said he could.

BCWWF 10-14-2005 07:33 PM

That Minnesota thing sounds pretty funny. I mean, what I gather is that there was a bunch of big football players getting public blow jobs and lap dances on a boat in Lake Minnetonka. I mean, its retarded, but the event in itself is almost comical.

Gonzo 10-15-2005 02:05 AM

Like MMM said, good way to spend a bye week.

Not a medical expert at all but I find it hard to believe that. Surely getting hit the wrong way or even just landing awkwardly poses a danger to his health that's greater than it would be if he hadn't have suffered the stroke, even if it isn't life-threatening.

Mr. Monday Morning 10-15-2005 06:11 AM

This week's games

Atlanta @ New Orleans
Carolina @ Detroit
Cincinnati @ Tennessee
Cleveland @ Baltimore
Jacksonville @ Pittsburgh
Miami @ Tampa Bay
Minnesota @ Chicago
NY Giants @ Dallas
Washington @ Kansas City
New England @ Denver
NY Jets @ Buffalo
San Diego @ Oakland
Houston @ Seattle
St Lous @ Indianapolis

Pretty good matchups. We get shitty Miami-TB and NYJ-Buffalo though

I'd think that, but what's is being discussed is the hole or holes were repaired and if there is going to be another failure the contact/sport wouldn't make a difference.

I dunno, why risk it?

Nervous Ferret 10-16-2005 03:52 PM

LOL fumble on the 1 yard line. It keeps getting better.

Mr. Monday Morning 10-16-2005 04:01 PM

I dunno about kicking the PAT when there's like 15 seconds left and you're in a position to win with a 2 pointer. I understand not wanting to lose but come on.

Mr. Monday Morning 10-16-2005 04:02 PM

Jaguars - Steelers going to OT as well, damn.

Team Sheep 10-16-2005 04:07 PM

This Miami/Tampa Bay game's been pretty crap for the most part. So many incomplete passes and flags. It picked up a bit in the 3rd quarter though. Hopefully the Buffalo/Jets game will be more entertaining. :D

Falcons - Saints looks like it will go to OT as well :|

Nah, not unless the Bills murder Vinny.

Tomorrow night's game on 5 should be the one to watch, potentially a great shootout

OssMan 10-16-2005 04:21 PM

BOOOOOOO

Anyway the ending to Jaguars/Steelers was awesome

also LOL at Vikings.

Gonzo 10-16-2005 04:23 PM

Wow our pass defense is so bad, like I already knew that but we are fucked cause teams can just exploit it every week. We made some good offensive plays down the stretch but way too many TO's and no points off all of Dallas' TO's will lose you the game.

Yeah I wanna see that, but it's on at like 2am, and the whole going to school in the morning thing effects that. :(

The Outlaw 10-16-2005 04:25 PM

Fucking Saints got screwed.

LOL. Jacksonville beat a Ben/Hines/Duceless Steelers team in OT. Tommy Maddox is pretty shittacular. All he has to do is hold on to the ball and it is over.

Gonzo 10-16-2005 04:26 PM

Yeah my friends are telling me the Saints got shafted, I'm not watching but from what I hear it was pretty ridiculous.

OssMan 10-16-2005 04:26 PM

The defense is what kept them in the game this week. Totally different from last four weeks.

Pretty obvious they were gonna lose though, they are like 3-25 coming off bye weeks or something. The same thing happened last year and then we went on a 7 game losing streak.

Kris P Lettus 10-16-2005 04:26 PM

The refs in San Antonio seem to be Falcon fans.. THREE horrible calls that lead to 17 points..

-pass interference that took away an INT
-not calling pushing off on the blocked field goal when he obviously used the lineman's backs
-that bullshit holding call on the last field goal

First two lead to 14 points, last one lead to a field goal for the win..

I'm writing a letter..

Who Dat??

Crimson 10-16-2005 04:31 PM

kickass games today. I could only keep up with the cowboys/Giants and Lions/Panthers. Cowboys almost gave that game away after pretty much dominating on offense.

And Harrington has like no arm strength.

Evil Vito 10-16-2005 04:35 PM

I'll admit, I was trying to look past the Giants' 3-13 after bye weeks stat...but then just watching everything go wrong, I had a bad feeling.

I'm just glad it went into overtime and that they at least made a game out of it. Still 3-2 heading back home against Denver. Eli may have come back to Earth this week...hopefully he'll leave again next week

Kris P Lettus 10-16-2005 04:36 PM

Oh and I forgot the bullshit pushoff offensive pass interference call that negated the Hakim TD..

BULLSHIT

The Outlaw 10-16-2005 04:37 PM

Yeah, like I said, the Saints pretty much got a huge dick shoved in their ass today.

RoXer 10-16-2005 04:47 PM

That Saints call at the end was pretty terrible.

The Cowboys are the greatest team ever.

What is going on in Minnesota?

Find a 3 hour VHS tape and use long play record, set it for 00.50 - 05.35, presto. They show extended highlights from the late Sunday game (Seattle - Houston this week) and every score from the weekend. Also the colour guy is really knowledgable and a funny fucker to boot.

Patriots getting smacked by the Broncos. Duane Starks should be cut after this game. He has gotten burned like 3 times already. Chad Brown sucks too, all he does is catch blocks. Patriots Defense is hurtin' this year. Dillon isn't playing either, he is in uniform but he isn't taped up or anything.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-17-2005 12:10 AM

Patriots made a game out of it. That's good to see but it sucks to see the injuries finally catching up with them. I'm still not sold on the new linebackers either though. Chad Brown catches way too many blocks and everytime he does make a tackle it is 5 yards down the field. 3-3 is not bad after the schedule and the injuries but there is something different about this season for the Pats. Doesn't have the same "feel"

Heard something thats Bruschi might be back, if he comes back man. I don't know - it would be fucking crazy.

RP 10-17-2005 02:56 AM

Duane Starks is horrible. Burned for a 70+ yard td and a 52 yard td in the same game.

RP 10-17-2005 02:58 AM

Bruschi looks like he's lost alot of weight. He might wanna pick up Romo's book.

BCWWF 10-17-2005 07:04 AM

Supreme Olajuwon 10-17-2005 03:46 PM

Carson Palmer tied Peyton's record of consecutive games with at least a 100 QB rating. IMO he's been the MVP so far this season.

Opinions please

RP 10-17-2005 05:00 PM

If it had a vote. I'd vote like this..

3rd place vote : Carson Palmer

2nd place vote : Dwight Freeny....:shifty: Ok Probably Shaun Alexander

1st place vote : Ladanian Tomlinson . He's done everything.

VonErich Lives 10-17-2005 05:42 PM

Ok my pats notes.

1) I'm done trying to defend or find excuses for Starks, hope he's cut today.

2) They haven't stopped the run all year, and if you can't stop the run you can't win. It's because of injuries/retirements, but that doesn't change the fact that you don't have those players. We'll see how Bruschi changes things, but the MLB core has been crap, and the DL w/o Seymore has been crap, even Eugene Wilson has disapears without Harrison around.

3) The OL needs Matt Light back fast, can't remember the last time I saw Brady get smacked around like that.

Anyway, 3-3, not thrilled, but tied for first, and all that matters is being undefeated in the playoffs...

also, WTF, Givens has the tools to be a great WR, but he keeps looking like the guy from Necessary Roughness

Thats two records Manning is apart of that i doubt will ever be broken. Manning and Harrison will be together for atleast 6 more years.

RP 10-18-2005 02:27 AM

Over the past week and especially after tonight. I hear all this undefeated talk. I personally think there should be no talk about this. I believe the only reason why its being talked about so early is because Indy is clicking on all cylinders literally. Defense , Offense, Special teams. They are obviously the best team in the league and probably by alot, but i dont think undefeated talk should even start to be talked about until the 10-0 mark.

That being said, there is no way we go undefeated. Between the Patriots game, Steelers game, Bengals game and Chargers game, somewhere in there they will lose. I'll be beside myself if its to the Patriots ( obviously ) , but if i had to bet on it , i'd say the Patriots.

The loss could even come in Jacksonville.

Anyways. Cato June , Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney and Bob Sanders will be in the Pro Bowl this year, barring any dramatic decline in there production.

el fregadero 10-18-2005 03:00 AM

Don't worry, I've already guranteed everybody that will listen that the Colts lose in Jacksonville. I will be making some serious cash if Indy goes in undefeated.

Team Sheep 10-18-2005 02:27 PM

I've been getting into football lately. What I don't get though, how are the schedules decided? I was checking out the Jets schedule earlier, and this season they have: The Chiefs, The Dolphins, The Jaguars, The Ravens, The Buccaneers, The Bills, The Falcons, The Chargers, The Panthers, The Bronco's, The Saints, The Patriots, The Raiders, and The Dolphins, the Patriots and the Bills again.

How come it's only these teams that they play, and no one else? And how come they play The Dolphins, The Pats and The Bills twice?

And how is the whole play-off thing at the end of the season determined? Thanks.

KingofOldSchool 10-18-2005 02:30 PM

The Jets are in the same division as the Dolphins, Pats, and Bills so naturally they will play each other more.

Yeah I can see that, but why do they only play a selected few other teams? Why those teams specifically?

Gonzo 10-18-2005 05:06 PM

They rotate the schedules. Like for instance, the Jets will always play their divisonal opponents twice each year, one home game and one away game with each team. Then they will play two other divisions (4 teams each) and finally two other teams based on previous years record I think. Then they throw a bye week in there and you have the 17 week NFL season.

Team Sheep 10-18-2005 05:09 PM

Ah right, seems logical enough. So how many teams qualify for the play-offs and all at the end of the season?

Gonzo 10-18-2005 06:22 PM

4 Divisional Champions in each conference and 2 Wildcard teams in each conference. So 12. The top two teams of each conference get bye weeks, and the top team in a conference gets home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Superbowl is at a predetermined location that is neutral, unless the freak chance that the local team makes it there.

OssMan 10-18-2005 06:36 PM

It's in like Miami every other year though, they are gonna get in some time, do they actually change it if the home team makes it in?

Mr. Monday Morning 10-18-2005 06:41 PM

Just to add to what Gonzo said above ^^^ cause I remember when I first started watching it confused the hell out of me.

Each divisional winner (i.e. North, South, East and West) are into the playoffs automatically. The team with the best overall record in the conference (AFC and NFC) gets home field advantage through the playoffs. Then basically the 2 best runners up in each conference get the wildcard spots. Normally there's a few teams tied on the same win-loss record (around 9-7 is the average) and so after that they take into account the win-loss record against other teams in the conference, in the division (making it even more important to beat your rivals), and so on.

The 6 teams who make it are sorted by their records, and then the top 2 get the first week of the playoffs as a bye, while 3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th. Then the winners progress against the top 2 to the divisional games, then those 2 winners to the conference game, and then the Superbowl.

Hope that helps.

The "most hosts" was New Orelans, after 2007, Miami will be tied, after 2010, Miami will have the most.

The thought is this is a sign that the NFL will move the saints.

Personally, I think if there's no NO team, having them as a permanint host for the super bowl would be cool.

Detroit is a horrible idea, but they build a new stadium (dome) so they got one. New England would have gotten one, but you have to either be a warm climate or a dome

I've always been one of the people who wouldn't mind a Superbowl in a cold climate stadium. They're professionals they ought to cope with it. Come to think of it the only reason they don't do this is for the halftime show, may be hard to do one in the snow.
