Ive seen enough of Mike Gonzalez, who has blown 2 saves and almost blew a 3rd last night. Me thinks he's got the job til Uehara comes off the DL though, but at this point Id just release him and get it over with.

ClockShot 04-09-2010 07:49 PM

The People of the Empire of the New York Yankees vs. Javier Vazquez.

Court is now in session.

Splaya 04-09-2010 08:45 PM

Went to Opening day for the Tigers today. Oh man such a great time

Everyone in Detroit was shitfaced. I have no voice. Great times

Evil Vito 04-09-2010 10:32 PM

2 home runs each from Rod Barajas and Jeff Francoeur. Ruben Tejada gets his first major league hit in the 8th inning. That'll give him a souvenir to take to Buffalo as he'll probably be sent down with Jose Reyes coming back tomorrow.

Good game by Pelf. Onto Ollie tomorrow...bring on Jekyll and Hyde!

DaveWadding 04-09-2010 10:50 PM

Chris Young. Jeez.

SammyG 04-10-2010 04:55 AM

Hope Ethier comes back soon.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-10-2010 12:16 PM

lol Cubs

Heros Welcome 04-10-2010 12:59 PM

Its been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG 11 months. I'm sure every Met fan on here is feeling the same way I feel right now. Excited and amped up to see the catalyst, the spark plug, THE MAN! JOSE REYES! BACK IN THE LINEUP! Can't wait to see him in the box, but more importantly see him change the game by getting on base!

JOSE! JOSE JOSE JOSE! JOOOSEEEE! JOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!

YOUR Hero 04-10-2010 01:13 PM

Jays have tied last season already for their # of come from behind wins (3)

Evil Vito 04-10-2010 01:51 PM

SNY blew it today. They marketed Reyes' return for days yet didn't even show him walking up to bat and getting a standing O. They came back from commercial and showed the fans for 2 seconds and Reyes was already in the batter's box.

Heros Welcome 04-10-2010 04:06 PM

Tyler Clippard is having himself a day! 3 innings of work against the Met lineup, 10 batters faced with 7 K's.

Droford 04-10-2010 04:25 PM

Awesome catch by Willie Harris there.

Evil Vito 04-10-2010 04:32 PM

That is at least the 4th year in a row that Willie Harris has made a game-saving catch against the Mets. I fucking hate that guy.

2 of the Mets' 3 losses have been total heartbreakers. Certainly doesn't feel any different than past years.

Droford 04-10-2010 05:28 PM

I normally root for pitchers not facing the Orioles when they start getting close to a no hitter/perfect game but I cant do it for the Yankees/Sabathia

Evil Vito 04-10-2010 05:31 PM

No hitter through 7

DaveWadding 04-10-2010 05:57 PM

KELLY SHOPPACH

ClockShot 04-10-2010 06:10 PM

The fuck, Nick Johnson. PAY ATTENTION!

Big Fat Mike 04-10-2010 06:20 PM

Garret Jones is a monster. If he keeps it up, I bet Pittsburgh trades him to the Marlins for 10lbs of sausage and a football helmet filled with cottage cheese.

ClockShot 04-10-2010 06:34 PM

Big CC was flirtin' today. 5 games in we already got some excitement.

Happy day.

SammyG 04-10-2010 06:36 PM

Great win by the M's today.

Droford 04-10-2010 08:49 PM

I love how the Os 7th inning stretch is sponsored by Jack Daniels.

YOUR Hero 04-10-2010 11:21 PM

Toronto already has twice as many wins at Camden Yard this year than they did all of last year. (2)

Triple Naitch 04-11-2010 10:42 AM

A fucking dinosaur threw out the first pitch for the White Sox yesterday.

Evil Vito 04-11-2010 11:39 AM

lol Joe Girardi says that he was going to pull Sabathia out after facing Shoppach even if he had gotten the out and wound up 3 outs away from the no-no.

Bulllllllllllshit.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-11-2010 01:29 PM

Mike Leake's major league debut today.

Triple Naitch 04-11-2010 01:50 PM

As much as I can't stand the Rays, those blue uniforms are fresh.

Innovator 04-11-2010 01:55 PM

Cmon Posada, the first steal you couldn't have gotten, that one was all you

Droford 04-11-2010 03:55 PM

Worst team in baseball - Orioles! Yeah!

Evil Vito 04-11-2010 04:59 PM

Mets should be at least 4-2 right now. Instead, they seem to be incapable of cashing in on the other team's mistakes and are now 2-4, last in the East...and they made Livan Hernandez look like Cy Young today. Not exactly the start I was hoping for.

The gullotine's officially being raised on Jerry Manuel (or at least, it should be). They couldn't beat the Fish or Nats and now have to play the Rockies and Cards. This could get real ugly real fast.

screech 04-11-2010 05:27 PM

Loved the pitching duel between Halladay and Oswalt today.

Zero hitting with RISP. I mean 2-14 on Saturday and I think it was 1-8 today. Its an alarming stat. The average thus far with RISP is .208. I understand its very very early in the season but when you have faced pitchers the likes of Nate Robertson, Garrett Mock, John Lannan, and Livan Hernandez and your not hitting its pathetic. I know the lineup isn't all there right now, but still the lineup that's getting run out there should be able to hit against pitchers of this caliber. I mean those pitchers are all 5th starters. I mean I'm a Lannan fan, but he's a pitcher that should be hit hard.

I agree with ya Vito, the guillotine should be getting raised already. I mean the black cloud is already coming in. A quick start would have held off the media from questioning the fates of Omar and Jerry, but tomorrow I expect ESPN Radio and The FAN to be all over the Mets, as they should be.

Who am I to say they can go out and beat the likes of the Rox and Cards, but right now it doesn't look promising at all.

Dbacks scoring 13 in the bottom of the 4th....jeez

The thing is...even if Manuel is canned I think the only guy who could make a difference in his spot is Bobby Valentine. Bobby V keeps his teams fired up and always seemed to get the most out of his players. The fans would probably be genuinely excited seeing Valentine in the dugout again.

Problem is, I highly doubt he gets brought on in mid-season. That role seems to already be reserved for Bob Melvin, who is already in the organization. I really don't like the idea of Bob Melvin being more than a temporary skipper, so I hope the '10 Mets won't pull an '08 Mets and play well under the new guy to keep him around.

Then there's Omar, who also has to go if this season doesn't work out. Replace him with Wayne Krivsky (already in the organization) or make a call to bring in Kevin Towers (who I'm sure has an out in his contract if he can get a GM job). Bobby V with Krivsky or Towers is what I'd like to see asap.

I hope just once this year we see a lineup of Reyes-Castillo-Wright-Bay-Beltran-Francoeur-Davis-Barajas...even if it's in September.

ClockShot 04-11-2010 08:30 PM

Aroldis Chapman K's 9 in 4 2/3 innings in his AAA debut today. Topped 100 mph 5 times. Damn.

Who's our Reds fan here?

How long do you think he gets called up if he keeps doing what he's doing?

Absolutely incredible in person.

MVP 04-11-2010 10:56 PM

Pedroia has 3 HR in the first week. :D

I think it took him like 5 or 6 weeks to hit his 2nd HR last season.

Yeah it took him til May to hit three last year. He's not trying to smash every ball outta the park anymore.

Boomer 04-12-2010 03:06 PM

What do you guys think about getting MLB.TV? I'm tempted, primarily because I don't have cable, but I would kinda enjoy being able to watch every game from my iPhone. Braves games aren't particularly easily to find streams of.

DaveWadding 04-12-2010 03:14 PM

I bought it. I love it so far. I'm not streaming off my phone though. (Laptop hooked up to HDTV) it looks awesome.
