I dont' recall Vince or anybody saying the WWE Championship has been vacated, or that Punk was stripped of the title.

Aguakate 07-27-2011 02:31 PM

...Interesting, so both Punk and Cena are reigning Champions, and their days as Champions are being counted, respectively...

...huh.

RP 07-27-2011 02:52 PM

Monday night raw in indianapolis next week is being advertised on the radio as champion vs champion.

SammyG 07-27-2011 03:46 PM

Just heard the whole thing. Great listen.

CM Punk MITB entrance

Rep to anybody who can send me a link to it online. The only video I can find is reversed like a mirror, and is freaking annoying.

Everyone go listen to the BS Report with Punk. Now. I'll wait.

Rock Bottom 07-27-2011 08:05 PM

Belt has Punk's name on it, in case anyone missed that

Mooияakeя™ 07-27-2011 09:07 PM

I don't usually listen to these radio things. I'm listening to the BS one with Punk now. Nice to hear it so far. Seems like a solid guy irl. Honest guy.

Juan 07-27-2011 09:33 PM

The BS Report with The Miz was pretty good too

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were six different scripts written for this past Monday's RAW.

The main goal for the entire CM Punk storyline was not so much for him to get over, but rather to get over Triple H taking over Vince McMahon's position.

The original plan for CM Punk's return was as follows: Get attacked by HHH, laid out with the pedigree, and then Alberto Del Rio would cash in his Money in the Bank leading to Del Rio vs. John Cena at Summerslam. The idea was that HHH would become a major heel as a result and feud with a babyface Punk. Plans ending up changing, and as Meltzer noted, Punk's elevation wasn't "shut down."

Mooияakeя™ 07-27-2011 09:57 PM

My god that sounds awful. Cena vs Rio due to Punk getting done by HHH. No need. They need to keep Punk going like this. Granted, the title is what started a lot of this with his "leaving with the title", but I think he could easily without the title if HHH screwed him out of it to create that feud. But not yet. Seriously, not yet. Maybe @ Summerslam in a "real champ decider", HHH screws the fuck out of him and Cena could go heel with HHH with a new era ushering in.

Xero 07-27-2011 11:18 PM

Holy shit did WWE dodge a bullet with that one.

I fully expect them to do the Punk/Hunter storyline ala Vince/Austin, and culminate it at Mania, but holy shit not like that.

Aguakate 07-27-2011 11:55 PM

MAN! I keep getting the feeling that WWE is going to fuck this CM Punk thing up! And reading that scenario that was about to happen doesn't help!

"Is this your deal, Russo?"

#BROKEN Hasney 07-28-2011 04:34 AM

The second part of Punk in ECW on iwantwrestling is up. It's a damn good read again, for the evolution of Johnny Nitro as well as Punk.

Actually loved their feud, even though it dragged on, but the article does show why it did drag on so much.

Shadrick 07-28-2011 05:33 AM

Great listen.

el bobbo 07-28-2011 06:40 AM

I think this CM Punk storyline is playing out absolutely perfectly.

I also think that the peeps on this website are getting really fucking carried away with it.

Just think. We have 3 main event guys now. That is one more than we had a couple of months ago.

From that podcast it sounds like Punk at least has some kind of say in what's going on. That's reassuring.

JimmyMess 07-28-2011 12:07 PM

so.... is Punk a tweener now?

Watch and make your own decision. I don't think there's going to be a hard and fast rule on what he does/doesn't do.

Xero 07-28-2011 12:34 PM

Which means he's a tweener.

Dave Youell 07-28-2011 06:25 PM

Tweener, pfft.

He's over with a demographic who had disposable income that don't rely on their parent to buy Hustle, Loyalty, Respect shirts.

A fucking goldmine is what he is!

Vastardikai 07-28-2011 06:56 PM

Local Hot Topic sells WWE shirts. It is fully stocked with Orton, Cena, Rock, and Miz shirts. They had a fifth shirt, but it's sold out. Care to guess whose shirt it is?

CSL 07-28-2011 07:04 PM

Trent Barretta obv.

Mr. Nerfect 07-29-2011 03:36 AM

Zack Ryder?

Kevin Nash has reportedly said he will go back on the road full-time to "back-up" CM Punk. Imagine an entourage of Punk, Nash, Cabana, Hero & Castagnoli...don't jizz.

New idea: They should just have CM Punk win the 2012 Royal Rumble next year and announce that he's crashing the Cena-Rock party. John Cena vs. The Rock vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title at WrestleMania XXVIII. That would be huge.

Mr. Pierre 07-29-2011 03:55 AM

I'm almost positive Rock vs. Cena will be for the Championship, but I think CM Punk defending against Triple H would be a much better way to go.

Triple H is constantly embarrassed that his WWE Champion is publicly bashing the company on several radio/tv interviews, and it gets to the point where he has to get his own hands dirty to make sure his company can't be represented in such a negative way. I wouldn't have Triple H be full-on heel, I'd actually have him stay exactly the way he is, and I think it would work well.

Stickman 07-29-2011 02:06 PM

A body guard for Punk who is not a jobber? Hmmmm.

BTW, I would LOOOOOVE to see Punk vs Y2J to see who is "The Best in the World."

McLegend 07-29-2011 03:32 PM

Kevin Nash being a body guard for Punk would be terrible.

Keep Nash far away from Punk.

WWE reportedly offered CM Punk a five-year deal at one point. No word yet if what he ended up signing was for that long.

Regarding Punk and Vince McMahon, it's said that Punk now has Vince's ear when it comes to ideas. It was described as similar to Shawn Michaels years ago when he began moving up in the company and Vince would bounce ideas off Shawn, or Shawn would suggest ideas to Vince.

XL 07-29-2011 03:55 PM

Yeah, I don't see the sense in a Punk/Nash partnership. Just comes off as Nash trying to attach himself to the hottest thing going.

CSL 07-29-2011 04:07 PM

if anything ever came of this dream internet faction that people seem to be talking about on here, a bodyguard/enforcer spot for Nash is pretty much the perfect on-screen role for him

So then its only a matter of time until WWE Ice Cream bars return.

Concerning Punk having a bodyguard, why not just stick with Mason Ryan once he returns from injury since he was hand picked by Punk and was willing to do anything. He might still be "green" but all he needs to do is beat up people and not worry about actual wrestling matches or promos.

Mr. Pierre 07-29-2011 05:11 PM

On paper, I'm definitely against him having a bodyguard. His current gig is that he's the "Best in the World", so why should he need backup or reassurance to win?

#BROKEN Hasney 07-29-2011 05:22 PM

I'd not be against a bodyguard for Punk if say HHH turned on him and had a few wrestlers aligned with him. The only thing the bodyguard would need to do is stop outside interference and not get involved in the actual match.

Mr. Nerfect 07-29-2011 09:26 PM

It'd be interesting to see Nash appear on-air and defend Punk if Triple H took issue with him. I just hope the Kliq stuff wouldn't be used to upstage the real issues.
