That would be like a main event final for the first time in ages :)

The Mask 07-19-2004 12:11 PM

It is just before the next United v cITEH derby

Ronaldo goes into the United changing room to find all his team mates
looking
a bit glum.

"What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this
game. We know it's important but it's only cITEH. They're crap and we
can't be bothered".

Ronnie looks at them and says

"Well, I reckon I can beat these by myself, you lads go down the pub."

So Ronaldo goes out to play cITEH by himself and the rest of the
team go off for a few pints.

After a few jars they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord
to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads United 1 ( Ronaldo 10 mins ) cITEH 0

He is beating cITEH all by himself! Anyway, a few more pints later and
the
game is forgotten until someone remembers.

"It must be full time now, let's see how he got on".

They put the teletext on.

"Result from Old Trafford " United 1 ( Ronaldo 10 mins ) cITEH 1 ( Bertie Magoo 89 mins )

They can't believe it; he has single handedly got a draw against cITEH

They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate him. They find him in the
dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands.

He refuses to look at them.

"I've let you down, I've let you down."

"Don't be daft, you got a draw against cITEH, all by yourself. And they
only scored at the very very end!

"No, No, I have, I've let you down...

I got sent off after 12 minutes "

LK 07-19-2004 01:59 PM

lol at The Mask's post

Oxstar 07-19-2004 02:11 PM

Who's Bertie Magoo?

Oxstar 07-19-2004 02:19 PM

Question for Dazz

Is Didier Drogba really that good? I saw him score some good goals in the Uefa cup for Marseille but is he really worth £24m?

http://www.skysports.com/skysports/a...143851,00.html

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 02:54 PM

Drogba looks quality, but I think its another case of Chelsea buying the flavour of the month

Dazz 07-19-2004 03:30 PM

Yes, he is the man, and is the only signing in the summer that I am really pleased about Kezman is good but hasn't proved himself in Europe, I think Drogba showed last year in Europe that he is the man. If it wasn't for the fact that no players Chelsea future is certain for more then a season I would get Drogba on the back of my Chelsea shirt.

Drogba is the fucking man, I hope he is our first choice attacker next year. And tubby tubby lala (The nickname given to Gudjohnsen by the bloke behind me at the Bridge) is fourth choice.

Oxstar 07-19-2004 04:17 PM

I thought Mutu was really good, but he missed a few good chances then couldn't get into the first team :nono:

Wengerland 07-19-2004 04:21 PM

Kezman had a better record at PSV than van Nistelrooy i think, him and Drogba should be a good partnership.

I think they've paid over the odds for Drogba, bearing in mind he's just had one good season and there's a lot of reports that he was being offered to English clubs for £4 million or something like that less than a year ago. That said, having seen him last season he is a player i'm looking forward to seeing this year.

Dazz 07-19-2004 04:25 PM

Mutu still is the man, he just needs to find form.

And yes Wengerland Drogba was offered for 4million last year, thats roughly what Marsielle paid for him.

Wengerland 07-19-2004 05:11 PM

Thought so. Just find it hard to believe that he's moving for around £10 million more than the leading scorer in the French league last year, Djibrel(sp?) Cisse. Then there's the fact that his price has gone up £20 million in the space of 1 year so i think Chelsea have been a bit hard done by, their original offer seemed good enough.

With Abrahmovich i guess it doesn't matter so much, then there's this Tiago deal which just seems pointless.I've heard Benfica want £10 million but read last week that Chelsea would buy him for 6 and then review his contribution after a year, if good then they'll keep him and pay an extra £2.5 million but if he's not needed then he'll go back to Benfica for £2 million :|. If that's the case then Kenyon seems happy to waste a lot of money.

Dazz 07-19-2004 05:17 PM

When you spend £30million on two players and loan them to big Italian clubs, it shows you the people in charge are useless tossers.

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 05:20 PM

Kenyon is the spawn of the devil

Dazz 07-19-2004 05:30 PM

Some say he reminds them of Smeagel from Lord Of The Rings

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 05:31 PM

Yes....I can see why

Rob 07-19-2004 07:34 PM

Put it this way, I wanted Drogba at Man U.

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 07:52 PM

I was watching Sky Sports earlier, and some French "expert" was saying that Drogba could work really well with an out and out striker (such as Kezman)

I think if those 2 click, Chelsea could do something special next season, although I am still really skeptical about Mourinho

Ferocious 07-19-2004 10:34 PM

Yeah so just got back from the hospital, doctor said eating feces isn't great for the internal organs but drinking your own piss on the other hand is slightly more effective.

Funny you should say that because Boro were in talks with him before Man Utd resorted to their usual underhand poaching tactics.

Dazz 07-19-2004 11:40 PM

I know that, Boro were very close to signing him, and I think Forlan made the wrong choice.

Oxstar 07-20-2004 09:59 AM

Hey Wengerland what do you think of this?

Sorry but that's wrong. Middlesborough put in a bid for him, he flew over for talks but shortly before he got on the plane, he got word Man United put in a bigger bid and he went to Manchester Airport instead. At no point did he hold talks with Boro other than agreeing to fly over. How putting in a bigger bid for a player is underhand poaching is beyond me. Poaching is funny too considering Jaap Stam and Ruud Van Nistelroory cost us over £33 million (which PSV were never going to refuse) and Dwight Yorke cost £13 million and John Gregory laughed at the time saying he was willing to accept £8 million if they made a take it or leave it offer.

Not saying Alex Ferguson and co haven't talked to players when they shouldn't have but every club does it, even those who think they get screwed.

Dazz 07-20-2004 03:27 PM

Jaap Stam admitted he was tapped in his autobiography, poaching is the wrong word to use, but you sure as hell tap people. Forlan was probably tapped, but thats not been proven, Bellion was certainly tapped. Another thing United do is make it public that you like a player and deliberatly try to unsettle them, like Smith, Saha, Ferdinand and there are probably more.

The Nistelrooy situation was handled disastrously by you too, inviting him to train with you for six months or whatever it was.

Rob 07-20-2004 03:46 PM

Yeah we did great deals with Smith and Ferdinand. If they never went to Man U, it would have cost any other team at least £6 million less to sign them. Clubs love it when Man U come in for players because they always are priced over the top.

Dazz 07-20-2004 03:53 PM

you got Smith for £7million, bollocks would another club have got him for anything like £1million. You must have a short term memory if you have forgotten that other teams offered much more for Smith then United.

Rob 07-20-2004 05:39 PM

What teams where these then? I don't recall any team other than Everton even making a bid this year and there's wasn't straight up cash hence why he went to Man U.

yianni 07-21-2004 05:24 AM

Some rumour that Rivaldo has gone to Athens in Greece to talk to a few clubs.

Don't know if this is true or not, I just read it somewhere before. :|

yianni 07-21-2004 09:14 AM

A friend of mine just told me he heard on Greek radio that Rivaldo's going to sign for Olympiakos tomorrow. :|

Ferocious 07-21-2004 10:06 AM

Rivaldo is waaaaaaaaaaay past it now

Oxstar 07-21-2004 01:23 PM

I think Rivaldo will still be good for a season or 2. What's the deal with Palace signing Hungarians? we are been linked with a third Hungarin called Zoltan Gera like WTF? It's a good thing I trust Iain Dowie's judgement. I hope we sign Marlon Harewood from West Ham.

Oxstar 07-21-2004 01:36 PM

So Newcastle have signed Patrick Kluivert on a three year deal. I wonder how much he's getting paid and if he can cut it in the premiership?

I don't have a list handly, Inter Milan definitley made a bid, and at least one other English club did but I can't remember who it was. Leeds could have got more but didn't because Smith refused to go anywhere but United, and only did this because you publicly expressed interest in him.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-21-2004 03:15 PM

Tiago has signed for Chelsea.

Bolton have increased their bid for Camara by £200k and been told to fuck off, to put it bluntly. I'm just sick of it now, to be honest we might as well take whatever we can get for the twat and be done with it. He's a major reason we were relegated (shite defending being the first, but him being unable to hit a cow's arse with a banjo for the first 30 odd games of the season cost us a good few points) and he doesn't want to stay around and help fix what he's responsible for, so fuck him.

Dazz 07-21-2004 03:17 PM

Well United only scored one goal past you all season.

Us on the other hand scored ten past you..:D

Come on now. You loved him before he said he wanted to jump ship.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-21-2004 05:31 PM

So?

Rob 07-21-2004 06:29 PM

 Nothing

Ferocious 07-21-2004 06:51 PM

Boro signing Parlour? WTF are we buying up all the slow people?

Rob 07-21-2004 07:31 PM

He wants to sign for West Ham

Regardless of the fact he refuses to even sit down and talk with the club. Regardless of the bullshit excuses he's been giving for wanting to leave (won't be African Footballer of the Year 2005? :wtf: ). Regardless of the fact that the vast majority of the fanbase stuck by him through the first 3/4 or so of the season when to put it bluntly, he was shite, and yet he now seems to think he owes us nothing in return, even though he has absolutely no right to be doing what he is doing, legally or morally.

Just so we're clear and all.

If Forlan turned round tomorrow and demanded a move to Real or somewhere because he wanted to have a better chance of winning the Champions League, I'm sure everyone at Old Trafford would be very understanding and not get annoyed at all :|
