And I'm not saying Peyton isn't good. Hell, I'll even call him great. But the greatest? He's not the greatest of our generation. He's definitely not the greatest of all time.

Can you tell me how yards Johnny Unitas threw for? How about Bart Star? What about Joe Montanna? How many yards did Fat Ben Roethlisberger throw for? How many yards or touch downs or first downs has Tom Brady Thrown for? Otto Graham? Let's get a little more local. How many records do Troy Aikman or Roger Staubach have right now?

You people want to quantify greatness in bullshit records that are broken every year as seasons are lengthened, and rules are geared towards passing.
The one thing that will make a quarterback immortal is Championship titles. Wake up, stop being mindless drones swallowing the goup that people tell you make somebody great.

Deon Branch, Troy Brown. are they better than Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne?

No tight end on the pats roster was better than Dallas Clark.

Who was better than Edgarin James? Who was better than Jeff Saturday?

Richard Seymour was good, so was Dwight Freeney. Ty Law, and Teddy Bruschi? how about Robert Mathis and Bob Sanders? There were just as many 'names' and all pros on Peyton's team...yet New England went to more Superbowls. The Colt's had a squad, and for Marvin, and Dwight, and Reggie and (most importantly) Edge...I wish they'd won more. But there was one thing holding them back, and that one thing wore #18.

Remember when Peyton Manning was out for the season and the Colts went from a perrenial 11+ win team to 2-14?

Remember when Tom Brady was out for the season and the Patriots went from a perrenial 11+ win team to... 11-5?

Exactly. Shut up.

Did Peyton say Ohama on the TD?

Nark Order 02-02-2014 11:01 PM

Malcolm Smith or Russel Wilson will probably get MVP. Maybe Harvin for te return. Man. Seahawks are good. Competition.

Goddamn. I'm gonna try to recap this all in one post because you seem to have ADD or something.

You said "The one thing that separates the greats from the GREATEST is going to be the ones who have elevated their teams from Great teams to Champions."

To which I replied that you're assuming all great QBs have equal opportunity to lead a GREAT team to a championship team when that is not the case. Manning didn't play with great teams most of his career.

Now you're asking why he didn't get those teams to a championship...

Now read this post as many times as is necessary until you understand.

The Colts were built in Peyton's image, and they routinely went 10-0. 11-0 and 12-0 every year before losing. They were a 'great team'. They'd steamroll the season and end up losing their first playoff game more often than not. Those Colts had everything that they needed to be considered a Dynasty...except multiple championships. Peyton had his chance. The fact that you're attempting to render his roster inferior now is revisionist history at it's finest.

This season is the perfect microcosm for Manning s Career. Great numbers, but fell short when it mattered most. Good, but not Good enough.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-02-2014 11:06 PM

If he won you'd be sucking on his dick right now up in here.

I didn't get paid on the Gatorade prop bet, but I'm going to fight for it though its a losing battle probably.

Yeah you would you claimed he would make the biggest comeback ever in the 2nd half.

No, he would just raise the standards to "Yeah, but he's only got 2 after all that!?!?"

Just like Manning was supposed to "choke" last week and the week before so it had to be stretched to "Yeah, but he'll lose in the Super Bowl".

Manning's camera crew wasn't as good?

How much do the Seattle Seahawks pay Texas A&M to use the phrase "12th Man"? If it isn't some crazy long-term contract, I hope A&M makes them pay out of the ass for it.

NFC West is going to be bringing heat for quite awhile. Rams have an incredibe draft ahead of them, the Niners will be contenders for quite some time, the Cardinals are only going to get better and they are already good, and the Seahawks are currently the best team in the NFL. Man.

James Steele 02-02-2014 11:21 PM

Amazing turn around in that division in a few short years.

Krimzon7 02-02-2014 11:21 PM

So what's gonna be the excuse? is it going to be injuries? or was it the Offensive Lines fault? Maybe the long halftime show...Come on Peyton Manning apologists what will your excuses be?

They'd get such gaudy numbers and a great record by playing the Titans, Jaguars and Texans twice a year.

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2014 11:22 PM

You're basically making the argument that QBs take great teams and make them championship teams and trying to claim that Peyton had great teams so that it fits your argument.

And your way of showing that he had great teams was their record.

Well I can just say "New England already had a championship team so Brady didn't make them a championship team."

But I won't do that. Because I'm not trying to form an illogical argument around the decision I've already come to like you are, moron.

James Steele 02-02-2014 11:23 PM

Yes, Payton Manning not being the only reason his team lost in their team sport's championship game is being an apologist.

I would love to see the last place team in that division be a nine or ten win team. I like the audacity of the Seahawks, but I'm not beholden to any team. Will definitely look forward to all NFC West divisional matcups next year. Should be a lot of fun and a LOT of bad blood.

OssMan 02-02-2014 11:25 PM

worst thread

James Steele 02-02-2014 11:25 PM

Of course you aren't beholden to any team, you just hop on bandwagon after bandwagon so you can swing around on the current champ's ballsack.

Yep. Incredible division. Super Bowl 49 is a year away but I'm already pretty certain a rep from that division will be playing in it.

What excuses? A great defense and a solid running game always wins championships. The 18-1 Pats saw that, the greatest show on turf saw that, the 98 Vikings didn't even make it that far, the Saints barely pulled it off because they had the best scoring defense that season and they played another team that was based off the pass. Flash and airing it out constantly don't equal championships. It's why I had no faith in the Denver vs. San Fran predictions from early this year and why I was surprised Denver made it this far. I'd like John Elway to notice that and make corrections, but he'll just add another receiver.

Corndad 02-02-2014 11:35 PM

Wow. What exactly did I just watch? That was awful.

Well, I'm the moron because I don't agree with your point of view. I'm the moron because my argument consists of wins, losses, and Championships being used to separate great quarterbacks from the greatest quarterbacks.

I will not back off my stance. Your name calling and insults mean very little to me. The fact remains, that as his career is winding down, more and more people are starting to see in Peyton Manning what I've said all along.

You know, when spewing vitriol...I sometimes get lost in the fact that there are people who genuinely care about teams, as I do for my bengals. Dave, and all Denver Bronco fans, I empathize with with your experience tonight. I hope that you can enjoy what was a successful season and that you have had plenty moments of elation and joy this year. I can't wish you the best of luck next year, because I'm rooting for the Bengals! Here's hoping that you get healthy, and better in this off season.

No. You're a moron because you can't understand logic and half the time you flat out lie and then deflect when you get called out on it.

And you deflect poorly at that. Kinda like you're trying to deflect from this lame argument you made every time I've called you on it.

You claim Peyton had a great team because they were 12-4 but couldn't win championships because Peyton didn't elevate them to it.

Fine. I'll claim that the Patriots were already a championship team during that 4 year period and Brady didn't elevate them.

I've got perennial 11 win seasons with a 2-14 season for Indy without Peyton and perennial 11 win seasons with another 11 win season without Brady for New England to show that Peyton VASTLY improved his team and Brady didn't.

You have "Super bowl rings" because that's the simplest thing you can wrap your head around when it comes to judging a single player in a team sport.

Droford 02-03-2014 12:04 AM

I wonder if Denver gets back to the SB if they'll wear the orange jerseys again. 4 games, 3 blowouts outscored 167-38

Krimzon7 02-03-2014 12:09 AM

Blue for the Broncos or nothing at all.
