Yeah.

Flash Funk 01-08-2013 10:48 AM

That is a pretty cool picture. Wonder who leaked it and how pissed Vince would be?

The WWE always say that TLC is the "only time of the year where tables, ladders and chairs are legal".

What about Extreme Rules?

They're not only legal, they're allowed.

Thats a really cool picture of the rehearsal.

I know its character driven and all that, but from a completely logical standpoint, and I'm a mark for both, but how can someone look at Punk last night standing next to the Rock and LEGIT believe he could kick Rocks ass with as much conviction as he displayed?

Because it happens all the time? In both pro wrestling and real life, the "bigger guy" doesn't always win and will get his ass kicked by the smaller guy. Ever seen some big jackass in a bar start showing his ass and some smaller guy kicks his shit in? It isn't like CM Punk is going to be Gorilla Press Slamming him all night long either. CM Punk's style lends itself to beating bigger guys except for the GTS which I think is neat when he does it on bigger guys because it suprises you when he picks guys like The Undertaker up.

If we're going by "legitimacy" (within kayfabe), Punk has a much more varied skill set and has demonstrated to be well versed in multiple styles (mainly centering around submissions, grapples and judo-inspired strikes). Rock is more flash in the pan, get shit done with no real center of style. Rock has size and flashy style but Punk has pretty much everything else.

Just because you're 100 pounds bigger and a half a foot taller doesn't mean you're automatically out of the running, the bigger guy could be a clumsy oaf or the smaller guy could have a wider array of strategies.

Plus, you also have to consider ring rust. Rock has had two matches in 8 years. Punk is the current WWE champion. Old time veteran who has been inactive for years vs. the guy who is (supposed to be) at the top of the hill currently.

If we want to talk conundrums, Lesnar should never job to anyone considering how much of a beast he is legit.

Right. And I get that. And I didn't say it wouldn't happen.

Differing styles, I get that. And I'm sure the point of him doing the promo was to sound convincing, obviously. I'm aware that "the bigger guy doesn't always win" I just found the dynamic interesting. If there was a guy who looked just like Rock (with the same athletic acumen) and a guy who looked like Punk (also, same athletic acumen) and you removed the scripted aspect of them being characters, I would have a hard time believing the Punk-looking guy could kick the other guys ass with as much conviction as he displayed. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, because I box and I've knocked out guys almost a foot taller than me and I'm 6'1, but its understandably a little harder to believe.

Xero 01-08-2013 04:36 PM

Again, not really if you take into account Punk's style. It's almost like you're saying "I know what Rock can do, but I'm basing Punk completely on what he looks like". If we're going solely by looks, I'd still say Punk wouldn't be out of the running because he looks like a tough piece of shit vs the pretty-boy muscleman Rock.

So if Punks face looked more...prettyboy-ish....he would be out of the running? His face is what makes him look tough?

No, his look and demeanor in general. He looks more rugged. He looks like a rabid weather-worn dog ready to pounce when he's "in the zone". He looks more dangerous than Rock.

It looks the kid got a bit carried away with what was going on and was probably threatening to take a shot a Big E after he interfered in the match.

Looks like he was told to calm down by someone.

Actually it looks like the kid got a Big E Five signal just not by Big E.

Lock Jaw 01-08-2013 06:55 PM

I think the kid might be "challenged". Could be his mom calming him down.

The over the top reactions just reminds me of a guy who was in the crowd at a SmackDown house show I went to just after WrestleMania last year.

The main event was Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship and for the majority of the match, this drunk guy who was about four rows from the front kept standing up and yelling "YES! YES! YES!" like bloody murder while forcefully throwing his arms in the air.

Whenever he stood up and started shouting, pretty much all the crowd's attention went away from the match and on to him.

He also kept screaming "DANIEL BRYAN! C'MON!" and trying to get everyone to do a mexican wave and do a Yes! chant. When Sheamus won, he just screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" like he had just been stabbed and began taking some sort of mini tantrum.

James Diesel 01-08-2013 07:10 PM

Mexican wave?

Y'know, when you get a wave of people jumping up from their seats and throwing their arms in the air.

Cool King 01-08-2013 07:14 PM

Most likely just has different names everywhere.
