Obligatory "WORST BATMAN EVER!!!" post
|
I think he'll be fine tbh.
From what I have seen him in (no, I have never seen Twilight) he seems like a good actor. |
i mean i'm not saying that i think he'll be "the worst batman ever" or anything. history has taught me to know better than to make sweeping judgments on castings before you see them in the role, no matter what you think of the actor
but my reflexive reaction is def "...him?" |
I would lol if they cast Kristen Stewart as Catwoman
|
Well....we shall see. I wasn't pumped for Affleck and ended up feeling he was easily the best part of BvS so.....here's hoping.
|
Maybe they just hired him to show him the disappearing pencil trick.

I find it hilariously tragic that they're still actually trying to go through with this movie.
|
Wonder if Batman will sparkle in the moonlight.
|
Oh.
|
Matt Reeves did a great job directing and/or writing Cloverfield, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes & War Of The Planet Of The Apes so I have lots of faith in this.
|
I wish this were a Batman Beyond movie..
No probs with Pattinson. I need me some Michael Keaton as old man Bruce. |
I can dig it

They neutered a masterpiece when they remade "Let The Right One In" as a teeny bopper flick and had the balls to alter the double meaning of the title.
Unforgivable. I didn't mind it so much at first and then I rewatched "Let The Right One In" which is as polished a gothic romance as there will ever be in this century. I'm still mad about it. |

Whoever plays Batman should just get voiced over by Kevin Conway.

Rumored villains are Penguin and Catwoman.... and maybe like 6 or 7 others.
|
Apparently it's going to focus more on the investigative part of the Batman M.O
So that sounds cool. I want to see gadgets and sleuthing punctuated by brief and effective vigilantism. Make it more Man From Uncle than Winter Soldier though, a bit of a Mission Impossible style would be nice. Take it back to the 60's and 70's. |
I like that idea. Takes him in a different direction than we've seen.
|
Robert Pattinson?
Damn. Last I saw him was in Lost City of Z. And he's done some other low level indie flicks since then it seems. How'd he pop on DC's radar for the role? |
By being a fine actor with the added bonus of absolutely huge name value and marketability off the back of his participation in the biggest franchise aimed at fluttery eyed young girls ever.
|
And he's handsome. Gotta be handsome.
|
Pattinson has been in 8 films that are 60% or better on rotten tomatoes since the last twilight film as opposed to only one rotten film. Not bad.
|
He had done all of the right things to progress from teen heartthrob to serious actor. I respect the work ethic.
|
As do I. Smart really. Used two large franchises as a platform to getting better work. And now he's Batman.
|
I hope I'm wrong and I usually like to keep an open mind about things, but I don't think that this is going to be very successful. Following in the footsteps of the Dark Knight trilogies is going to be an extremely tall order, and I just can't see Pattinson being able to take the torch from Christian Bale.
|
Pattinson lights my torch.

Quote:
Pattinson is a good actor no doubt, but I can't see him being able to duplicate Christian Bale's success. If it was up to me, the entire Batman franchise would be put to rest for the next 20-25 years. The Dark Knight trilogies was so epic, that you can't just make a new Batman a few short years later. |
Bale's Batman was great because of team behind it, not just because of Bale. Reeves is an accomplished director and seems to have a very firm idea of what he wants to do with the character. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see where he goes with it.

Did Batman ever have a werewolf villain?
If so, they should go with that. |
I’d really like to see Mr. Freeze
|

|
Mr Freeze would be awesome. Man bat as well.
|
hell yeah, i would show the hell up for freeze (esp tragic/serious freeze) and/or man-bat. they both have the potential to be awesome.
tbh though other than freeze - or maybe a well-done poison ivy - i'd prefer it if they went for a villain we haven't seen already, especially one, in catwoman's case, we've already seen twice in two film series professor pyg would be pretty cool if they're wanting to highlight batman's 'detective' side, though he might not yet be established enough outside of the comics new 52-era dollmaker would work for similar reasons as pyg, though he appeared in both arrow and gotham black mask would've been good too, if he wasn't tied up in birds of prey (which, side note, i really hope does not suck) penguin would be ok but honestly after five seasons of gotham i don't feel like the character needs it; same for riddler. cobblepot and nygma were the breakout villains of that show and imo they feel pretty well represented on-screen as a result, even if neither has been in a film for 20+ years other villains i would be down for: - clayface - court of owls - hugo strange (they might avoid this purely for the 'dr strange' connection though) - lady shiva |
Court of Owls should deff be the sequel.
|
|
I mean, comic fans would love Court of Owls, but Mainstream audiences might not go for it
|
IDK a cool rich cult has possibilities, haven't seen in a superhero film yet
|
If it's good mainstream media will love it. That's all that really matters.
|
I could go for Riddler. I wouldn’t disqualify him due to being covered in Gotham as a movie has a broader appeal than the TV show. Riddler would play off going the detective route with Batman too.
|
Very interesting ideas and thoughts being posted in this thread and I commend those posters for their contributions. I think this is one of those things where I'll have to "see it to believe it" so to speak. The Dark Knight trilogies is just so legendary that any attempt to duplicate it or come up with a new twist to the Batman series will likely just fall flat in my opinion.

Condiment King for the villain or I'm out

It's not going to duplicate TDK films. And it's been 7 years since Rises came out and it'll be closer to 10 years once this film hits. I think that's more than enough time. |

Filming starts this fall in London, btw. |
I for one cannot wait for this movie. I had/have my doubts about R. Pattinson being Batman but now that I've sat back and thought about it, he does have the looks and I'm looking forward to it a lot.
|
The villain should be some sicko like Victor Zsasz if this is going to be a detective flick.
The Batman hunts a serial killer. |
Zasz seems popular for live action adaptations...... he was just in the Birds of Prey movie
|
I wasn't aware of that. What else has he been in?!
|
Looks like he was in Birds Of Prey, Gotham and Batman Begins. Ever.
"popular" is maybe an overstatement considering the volume of Batman there is to get through. But yeah, maybe do some other murderer. It can't be some goofy character. |
I want some more of this... nipples included.

Hell yeah. |
I have obtained the trailer. And I'm pumped. Completely different feel, look and tone from the Nolan films. So far so good.
|
I really think Robert Pattinson could be the best Batman of all time. If you told back when the Twilight movies were a big deal, that 10 years later he would be one of the best actors in the world, i'd tell you you're fucking stupid. But here we are. And he really is one of the best.
|
Looks fucking great!

I love everything about that trailer. Has a Seven feel to it.
|
I'm not going to lie: that trailer has me interested.
|
I could've sworn I just read something the other day that Affleck is doing Batman still in a Flash movie. Is this a separate Batman movie that's still somehow coming out too?
actually don't answer that, I'm so fatigued on Batman movies I don't care |
You asking if the Flash movie is a Batman movie or..?
|
Flash movie has Batman Ben Affleck and Batman Michael Keaton in it.
This is apparently a "different universe" entirely to Justice League |
Quote:
The Reeves/Pattinson Batman is it's own thing much like Joker exists in its own universe. |
Anyways, this could be an interesting movie, but I already hate Bruce Wayne's haircut.... this is gonna be like The Amazing Spider-Man where I just hated that dude's hair and couldn't get past it....
|
Lock Jaw v jelly
|
im optimistic that we will finally have a batmam film thats a detective story

That said, I dunno about the voice. That "I am Vengeance" line sounded a little weak. |
Quote:

i liked his delivery. felt human (unlike bale) but still had authority
|
I liked Bale in the Batman Begins because he actually relaxed his Bat-Voice when talking to others like Gordon/Rachel.... the other two movies it became hardcore Bat-Voice all the time

Kevin Conroy best Bat-voice. Right behind Adam West.

Lmao West. I loved that man. Shame he never got a cameo in any of the films.

Looks good.
I liked the punching. |
I'm feelin' it.

looks as good as i expected it would :y:
|
Looks absolutely great
|
Jesus Christ that looks fucking stellar. I’m in. Right before my birthday too. Can’t wait.
|
For some reason I'm just indifferent to this.....
Of course I will still rush out and see it ASAP, but just not feeling hyped... |
lol @ punching the glass. come on. even penguin is like my guy please just relax

Would give anything to see someone deliver the line "my guy please just relax" to Batman in this movie.

That's probably exactly it.... feel like the next Batman movie I will get excited about is one that kind of skips all origins and whatever and is more of a Batman-Family movie that includes his various sidekicks, etc.
|
He's already Batman when the movie begins. Just a 'still-learning' Batman. Test screenings for this one have been very, very good (allegedly).
I've followed some insiders/leaks about this movie that have me very interested in it...If 'The Dark Knight' was Batman as 'Heat' it sounds like this is Batman as 'Chinatown meets Seven/Saw'...very curious to see how they get the rating to PG-13, which they'll definitely do, there are Lego sets and toy sets incoming for it. Some possible tidbits about the film, minus any real spoilers, but I'll still put a spoiler tag up SPOILER: show |
The body armor looking like straight up vibranium is a bit much, I rather he dodges bullets. Did look badass with him just tanking full auto fire. The fact that they are hiding a lot about Riddler probably means he's gonna be memorable. Hate the car. Catwoman's hot but I don't think that casting ever failed to have a hot Catwoman.
|
Robert Pattinson deserves this. Twighlight fucked his cred up for too long despite killing it in his roles.
|
I worry the DC Multiverse is going to hinder his standalone movie
|
he's been screen dynamite for years

All the spoilers slik posted sound amazing and I got those vibes seeing the last two trailers.
I get being burned out on Batman. We never really got a break. BvS was right after TDK trilogy ended. Then we get the Batman announced. Then Affleck is back for the Snyder cut, plus the Flash film with Affleck and Keaton. It’s a lot of Batman in the last decade. But, I’m excited for this movie and interested to see how far it differentiate itself from the Nolan stuff while still being a good Batman story. |
it doesnt look like this is going to be it but i hope one day we get a batman film where he's actually a detective

In addition to the already announced GCPD prequel spin-off series on HBO Max..... The Penguin is getting his own spin-off series as well (no word on if prequel or sequel)
Really going "all in" on this Bat-Universe before it even comes out.... |
