RVD to TNA...its true its true
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, there goes The Pope's chances of being TNA Champ.
No way this will outdraw the cast of the time traveling hot tub movie.
RVD: I'm here on a one day deal. Just want to say fuck you Hogan, I'm not falling for this shit. If I wanted to be buried I'd have gone back to Vince.
RVD: "Hey Kendrick, you got anymore weed?"
Will be interesting to see where he fits in...already a ton of names wrapped up in feuds. I can see Hogan saying he has a replacement for his match on Monday and it turns out to be RVD.
Just a thought |
In all seriousness, Fuck Hogan.
I wouldn't mind seeing RVD vs Styles
One more reason for me not to watch TNA.
Is RVD a channel changer?
Not being a douche, I love RVD. I just wanted to get your opinions as to whether his return after being away would be enough to put WWE on notice and lay the foundation for TNA to legitimately challenge WWE for the long term and not just necessarily this year.
Hang on, why is this a bad thing now? Or are you guys just being typical negative internet fans?
doubt it
I'll be tuning in that's for sure.
I read the other thread and thought I might like to see RVD...then I remembered The Nasty Boys and I'm not even going to bother.

Meaningful and well booked angles are a channel changer...I could care less if its RVD, Hogan, or SCSA, if you're making it gibberish, then I'm not watching.
Nasty Boys, bro.
Also, nothing on NXT has been crap up to this point. Nothing at all.

Holy shit. Thought he was a WWE for lifer.
Yeah I will tune in ... me and my bro watch online streams so I'll put up a Raw feed and he will do TNA and we will watch them both until TNA is too distracting. Fuck its Wrestlemania month who cares about anything else?
Yeah the matches are unlimited... AJ, Daniels, Abyss, Wolf, Angle, Lethal, Joe... good move TNA
RVD ROCKS!!! THE WHOLE F'N SHOW!!!
Big signing although I was never an RVD fan.
You'd think we would know by now that no one man in TNA is a tide-changer. Not Christian, Angle, Nash, Hogan, Bischoff, and it won't be RVD.
Ultimately being on Monday will be the biggest factor for TNA. After that it's going to be up to them with booking and star power. That's where RVD comes in. They need to use recognizeable faces to draw viewers to their program on what is the largest night of the week in terms of the wrestling audience. People don't like what's happening on Raw, they flip over and see RVD and A.J. That's how they will build a new audience. It will not happen in one or two episodes either. Yes, the Nasty Boys need to go. |
RVD is a channel changer to WWE for me.
He might be a channel changer to TNA for some. I think that if TNA was on Monday's back when they had Christian, or Angle on the top, they would have been big channel changers. Being on a different day though, it wasn't a matter of "channel changing", but a matter of "Watching more wrestling on another day". |
I was never a huge RVD fan. I know I am in the minority here, so RVD is not a channel changer at all.
Well, wait. I will be DVRing TNA on monday, so I guess he is? I won't be switching to TNA live at all. |
I have been so iffy on TNA's new direction in the last month. Since January I feel like the product has regressed instead of progressed. However... lets just be dead honest...
Your a 13 year old kid who isn't a member of the IWC... you've been watching for a few years... Raw is on and it goes to commerical. So instead of watching that you flip around. You are bound to eventually land on Impact, right? If on Impact! you see some guys you grew up watching like Angle, Hogan, Flair, RVD, Jeff Hardy, Foley, Jarrett, Kennedy.... etc... Don't you think that you might stick it out for a few minutes to see what it's all about? All it takes is five minutes to get a rating point from a viewer. WWE is on top of the game now, best they have been in a LONG time. But it won't last forever, it never does. And even though it is pretty grand right now, there are still shit parts. I would much rather watch any one of the guys mentioned above than a WWE Diva's or Women's division match. I'd rather watch those guys than Chavo, or Carlito, or Masters, or Shelton, or any of the guys WWE has floating around for 3 minutes on Raw. I think within five or six months TNA will be hitting in the high 2's... it's just logical. The only way it will happen though is good booking. The reason we switched from Savio Vega vs Yokozuna, or The Smoking Guns vs The Godwins, or Bob Holly vs Aldo Montoya is because WCW was using Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in ways we never though possible. Hogan could pull this off, he needs to reach way back into the memory banks... think back to how he was booked in AWA. Genius. Fucking glorious booking that made Wrestling what it is today. I am sorry Vince but you only sold Hulkamania to the masses, Verne Gange and Hulk Hogan created Hulkamania. Eric needs to focus on what he does best. Search everywhere else, ROH, Dragon Gate, New Japan, All Japan, Noah, CMLL, AAA, UFC, Bischoff is an idea theaft. NWO was an angle in New Japan before it was in WCW. Eric needs to be smart and steal from the most creative just like he did from Paul Heyman and NJPW (Inoki was probably the booker I think?). So whats getting the real wrestling fans hot? Great wrestling. We all love great matches, and realistic shoot style angles that make even us say "Was the supposed to happen?". I know they could do it. I don't have too much faith in them to pull it off in the long term however. |

Channel changer for me? No. But I'm interested and will go out of my to watch the segment as long as I don't hear it's retarded.
That's assuming I can't find a TNA stream, because I will be watching live if I can, with RAW on my tv. |
Quote:
I said in the other RVD thread, I will not be changing the channel, but it is a nice step for TNA because most wrestling fans are RVD fans. |
my bro just watched the vid n it said the website gave him a virus WTF?!?!
yet it seems safe for you guys?? 0.o and yes, i'm new... hi |
I havent checked the vid.

This is awesome for TNA. If RVD can still go in the ring, I look forward to the matches he could have with people like Styles, Daniels, Angle, The Pope etc.
But to be brutally honest, this won't boost TNA's ratings at all, and as far as their 'war on WWE' goes this won't win them anything. Still excited to see RVD in TNA though. :D |

But don't shit on a whole product for two bad members of the roster. But fighting people's hatred for TNA is like trying to stop a wave from crashing on the beach. I like TNA, I've liked them better than the WWE for a solid two years now and them having RVD is one more reason to watch. The upper card wrestler between TNA and WWE is essentially a push. The Undercard wrestlers are also nearly a push. The diffrence is TNA give almost all their undercards feuds, WWE's under card feuds are practically non-existant. But like and dislike what you wish. |

Didn't someone from here announce for that? Cooler Tom Schuler maybe?
When will TNA realise they need to do more than bring in "surprise faces" each time?

Honestly, I'm not even trying to make the comparison, but this is exactly what WCW used to do. |

It' a shame that RVD has only been gone from WWE for 3 years, and never been in TNA, yet I can think of more guys in WWE I'd like to see him have new matches with than in TNA.
Still, this is a good pick up by TNA obviously, and has me interested. I'll definitely be tuning in to see what they do with him, but I usually do that anyways. That's what commercial breaks and shitty segments on Raw will be for. And justin.tv/youtube |
RVD is almost 40. He is a fantastic wrestler and has great matches but how much longer could he still go with the style he wrestles?
The first thing I wondered was whether or not he is still able to work the way he used to. I hope so.
I know he has had some matches since leaving WWE, in the indies. I haven't seen them though |
You guys are talking like he'll be wrestling. For all we know this is a one-time thing or a non-wrestling role. He may wrestle, but this has to be considered.
I don't think even Bischoff and Hogan would do something as pointless as bring in RVD in a non-wrestling role.
Quote:
As far as RVD's current in-ring potential, I thought he looked pretty good at last year's Rumble.
You guys think he'll get a big push there and not get buried?
RVD vs Angle vs AJ = whoa |

I would have rather seen RVD come back to WWE, but it will be interesting to see what TNA does with him.
RVDTNA
It's hard to figure out where he'll factor in.
Currently they seem to be giving the pushes to Anderson, Pope and Abyss. Angle and Styles have retained their spots through all this too. I wouldn't be suprised if Anderson or Pope sees their push reduced, in favor of RVD. I think they should send Anderson to the midcard and give RVD the main event spot to be honest. I'd love to see an RVD-Wolfe fued too. |
There's so many great match possibilities.
This is great news and a great move by TNA. People need to stop saying 'When will TNA realise they need to do more than bring in well-known faces etc' - give them a chance. Not that half of you will. One ridiculous thing they do is enough to make you look down on TNA for so long - e.g: Cage Match DQ. WWE just re-named about 75% of their PPV's gimmick matches, and have essentially ruined the unpredictability of gimmick matches. I think that's a much bigger deal, w/e though, The Show Off is right. |

Ugh, awful. I've always supported RVD as he was sort of a "hometown favorite" if you will...besides Sabu, he lived (lives still??) closer to my neck of the woods than all the guys who hail from Detroit.
Was hoping to see him back in WWE, not TNA. Oh, well. Guess it looks like I'll be missing out on this part of his career, as I make it a policy to not watch iMPACT! What a shame. I'd be willing to bet RVD will probably be misused horribly if he's in for the long haul. |
Fun fact: One of my best friends is named exactly liked him, I mean his real name.
Rob Szatkowski?
Robert Szatkowski, we don't use the form "Rob" here.
Maybe they will put RVD,Styles,Angle,Hardy, and Pope in the king of the mountain match this year or they could put Styles vs RVD vs Daniels in the Ultimate X match at Destination X for the TNA World Championship
Quote:
really?
Actually I just did a search, WWE doesn't own the name or character but they do still own the rights to all product licensing.
The character/name one was actually canceled in February of this year. |

so he can still use the RVD name in TNA. that's good

They dont have RVD trademarked though, and its tough to get initials trademarked frankly.
RVD in ecw and in gimmick matches is great. But any other time, his matches just seem really formulaic, and predictable to me.
Pretty pumped to see him in some sort of hardcore match with Abyss though. |
Keep in mind that RVD is now 39 years old....and so he may not even be physically capable of doing some of the stuff that he did before.
Well if he has to come out to MIDI music, hope its a version of "Walk" atleast!

Why are people complaining about this? I don't remember anyone talking about ratings going up just because Rob Van Dam was there, yet people are criticising the signing on that basis? Look, RVD is one of the biggest free agents still in the business, so it'd be a great move to sign him. He literally fits any division TNA has.
I would love to see him in Ultimate-X at Destination X. |
