Official WWE Hall of Fame 2010 Telecast Thread

Starts at 11PM EST on USA Network.

According to PWInsider, it's going to be Gorgeous George, Uecker and DiBiase on TV.

So... Sup?

St. Jimmy 03-27-2010 09:01 PM

If anyone has a stream - post it.

Jeritron 03-27-2010 09:36 PM

I'm watching the Shawn/Bret Iron Man Match right now. I forgot this was on but I'll watch it when it starts

Dibiase I get but Uecker and George not so much . really thought it would be Dibiase and Hart for sure

Triple Naitch 03-27-2010 09:46 PM

I'll be watching.

Jeritron 03-27-2010 09:46 PM

Stu Hart might be bigger among hardcore wrestling fans, but George and Uecker are far bigger mainstream personalities. They obviously pick the televison inductees based on what the majority wants to see.
The people who care enough about Stu are either there, will buy the DVD, or find it on the internet.

Anybody Thrilla 03-27-2010 09:52 PM

I'll be here.

Jeritron 03-27-2010 09:54 PM

When are they going to induct Castrol GTX, Slim Jim, and FourFifty?

Xero 03-27-2010 09:56 PM

Better be next year.

Anybody Thrilla 03-27-2010 09:56 PM

I feel like JVC Kaboom Box should go in before FourFifty.

Jeritron 03-27-2010 09:58 PM

FourFifty has put more money in Vince's wallet than JVC Kaboom Box could ever dream of. I think his next ticket purchase will be the Lugz Boot of the Week

VSG 03-27-2010 09:59 PM

Is it in the same stadium as WM itself?

Jeritron 03-27-2010 10:01 PM

Yea they sold 80,000 tickets to see Ted Dibiase thank his family and tell road stories

Xero 03-27-2010 10:01 PM

Walker: Texas Ranger has to go in as the best lead-in to RAW ever.

Anybody Thrilla 03-27-2010 10:02 PM

Anybody know where I can score some IcoPro?

Xero 03-27-2010 10:03 PM

Ask Cena.

There's some Joe Rogan stand up on Comedy Central that's over when this starts if anybody's bored.

NeanderCarl 03-27-2010 10:09 PM

Don't get me wrong, I loved Uecker at WrestleMania 3 and 4; if WWE insists on a 'Celebrity Wing' for the Hall of Fame, I'm happy he's going in (although, ahead of Mr T? Mike Tyson? Cyndi Lauper? Laurence Taylor? Mayweather? Ray Combs? Trump?)

But let's not lose perspective. The Celebrity wing is a mere token spot. Should anybody be bumped from the telecast of the annual wrestling Hall of Fame inductions, it should be the celebrity inductee.

I think they are predicting a George/Uecker/DiBiase telecast because of the order of proceedings tonight at the venue, but with no live webcast, they could film the evening completely out of order (to spread out the 'big names' and keep the live audience involved) and sort it in the edit before the airing.

Does Gorgeous George really have a higher mainstream status in 2010 than Stu Hart? I'd say they are fairly level.

Neither means much to a casual TV viewer anymore. If Bret Hart, one of wrestlings biggest stars of the 90s, can barely garner a reaction in 2010, why would George fare any better in recognition terms? Yes, I am aware of his impact in the early years of televison but most of his fans/viewers are probably long dead. Gorgeous George won't mean much to the average wrestling fan nor the average TV viewer in 2010. Stu Hart will at least hold some interest to the former.

VSG 03-27-2010 10:09 PM

Well I might tune in just to see the stadium set-up.

Anybody Thrilla 03-27-2010 10:11 PM

Maybe they let Uecker speak on TV on purpose to try and boost DVD sales if anybody REALLY wanted to see another inductee.

Jeritron 03-27-2010 10:12 PM

I think everyone should watch this while waiting

I don't think so. I don't really know for sure since I wasn't around to follow that, and don't really know how I'd go about doing so now.
I've just seen stuff on youtube. I've read Jericho's book, which probably talks more about that but I can't remember.

I doubt they were though, just from their nature. They were like The Rockers

AngryMidjit 03-27-2010 10:59 PM

that thrillseekers video is absolutely horrible. jesus, it's worse than jericho makes it sound in his book

I read the book too, and I'm pretty sure he said they were faces. I was just making a joke at that video's expense.

Jeritron 03-27-2010 11:06 PM

lol what the fuck is that hair? is that a gimmick?

Jeritron 03-27-2010 11:07 PM

1.21 Jiggawats. He's here to induct the flux capacitor

Xero 03-27-2010 11:07 PM

Xero 03-27-2010 11:08 PM

Main event promo. <3

NeanderCarl 03-27-2010 11:09 PM

Lot of confused wrestling fans just tuned into the wrestling Hall of Fame to see NBC's Dick Ebersol induct 'Mr. Baseball'.

Or "Mr. Basketball" as Jesse Ventura called him in Pontiac.

VSG 03-27-2010 11:09 PM

Who were those elderly people next to HHH?

Evil Vito 03-27-2010 11:10 PM

Xero 03-27-2010 11:10 PM

Might be Hunter's parents.

Here's what "Championship Row" looks like (Hunter's section in order from left to right).

MVP, Michaels, Cena, Some kid, old dude, old woman, Hunter, Steph, some kid, some kid.

That was the plan late this week. Can obviously change.

But come on, nothing can top it. It's the main event even if it doesn't go on last.

It's definitely funny, but how would you react to that if you were watching a regular episode of Smokey Mountain Wrestling and they showed that?

Xero 03-27-2010 11:13 PM

This is in a theater, isn't it? I remember last year they did it in the arena where the next RAW was held.

St. Jimmy 03-27-2010 11:14 PM

Last year they had Austin, so they needed the seats.

Xero 03-27-2010 11:14 PM

Yeah, it's called a pen and white out.

Nowadays, I'd find it hilarious because of the retro-ness. At the time, it was probably more average.
Still, the shit Jericho does is legitimately entertaining. Getting scared by the stuffed bear? Hitting on the chick on the wall?
That's stuffs good.

Watching them ride bumper cars and bunjee jump, yea, if it weren't them and retro I'd probably be like "wow this is ridiculous"

Xero 03-27-2010 11:20 PM

Well, how hokey was SMW overall?

Was stuff like that the norm?

Evil Vito 03-27-2010 11:20 PM

I think if Kaylen Croft and Trent Barreta duplicated that promo today, it would get them some good heel heat.

Yes. I watched a segment where they got attacked in the parking lot. The shit was not good.
The matches were, but the storylines and segments were like your basic public access indy shit.
Jericho and Storm were entertaining as hell though. Talent is talent.

True, that WWE A/V Team is good but this has to be in tandem with the USA network goons too.
