Greatest wrestler to never hold a title in a major promotion

Who do you think is the greatest male wrestler never hold a title in a major promotion (who was in a major promotion)? This includes WCW, WWE, ECW, TNA, ROH and the NWA. Not one title, tag included.

The only exception I will make is the WWF Hardcore Championship. They can have held that as almost everyone below the main event held that in the WWF.

He was probably one of the top of my favorite wrestlers from that era, but then when I saw his addiction in Beyond The Mat I became very very sad, but that was that era and that's how some things went.

I mean how many people loved Motley Crue during the 80's but didn't know about their massive drug use backstage?

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:06 PM

Did Rick Martel hold any titles? I'm thinking he did back in the AWA but no so sure. I'll rep your fucking brains out for some truth.

He won the TV title in WCW

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:10 PM

Damnit.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-02-2010 04:15 PM

Martel was underused as hell. I don't think he won the TV title btw he was supposed to forgot his gear or something, and then Booker won it. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it went down.

Kapoutman 04-02-2010 04:16 PM

Pretty sure I remember seeing Martel with the title near the end of WCW.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:16 PM

If that is the case then I nominate Rick Martel for this.

Nominate him for what? He won a major title. He doesn't count.

My predicitions is that I don't see many other big names on this list.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:20 PM

I know! I can't really think of anyone other than Jake, though at first I thought he had an IC run back in the day, but I guess I was wrong.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:24 PM

Jimmy Snuka?

kareru 04-02-2010 04:25 PM

this is hard

how about vampiro, he was a decent enough wrestler and he had quite a push during wcw 2000

Supreme Olajuwon 04-02-2010 04:25 PM

The only person I can think of who didn't hold a title in WCW or WWF that's worth mentioning is Dusty Rhodes but he won titles in NWA so he doesn't count.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:26 PM

Read Chris Jericho's book. I'll acccept his opinion on vampiro as fact because its fucking Chris Jericho. In that case I would not nominate Vampiro for anything more than being a toolbag.

He won some NWA titles.

What about Kanyon.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:28 PM

Again, now we are just naming random mid carders who we know were not even really title worthy.

Finding the true "gems" will be a daunting task.

So , no, Kanyon is not the greatest of anything.

Xero 04-02-2010 04:29 PM

Snuka was also the ECW Champion.

Was going to say A-Train but forgot he was IC champion.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 04:39 PM

While he should not be considered in the "greatest" category I give you major props for him coming to your mind.

He is the closest thing WWE will ever see to chuck norris. <3

All titles outside of the WWF Hardcore Championship.

St. Jimmy 04-02-2010 04:44 PM

lol why not the hardcore title? it's still a title.

Xero 04-02-2010 04:44 PM

Too saturated with useless wins.

I also thought about excluding tag titles. If you want to, go ahead. Definitely broadens things.

Inadequacy 04-02-2010 05:02 PM

He held the lightweight title

Kapoutman 04-02-2010 05:25 PM

Ted Dibiase

Supreme Olajuwon 04-02-2010 05:33 PM

If not counting tag titles then yeah Dibiase no question.

KIRA 04-02-2010 05:49 PM

Damn this is hard, Charlie Haas (OBVIOUSLY excluding the Tag Belts)

Favre4Ever 04-02-2010 05:51 PM

Hassan never got any sort of belt did he? Though I'm not sure his character would be able to take part in a "greatest" category due to its briefness.

Ummmmmmm this is a tough question. I think "World" title would be much easier cause you could squeeze Mr.Perfect and Scott Hall in there.

Also when you think about it, Arn Anderson never really won a SERIOUS TITLE that wasn't a tag team strap.

Yeah this would be easier narrowed down to World titles

I know Haas was only there for a short time I was going more on his ability as most on here agree that Haas was an extremely talented horribly misused wrestler but I suppose that statement could be attributed to a lot of WWE talent over the years.

Lanny Poffo comes to mind

Xero 04-02-2010 06:04 PM

We've done the "only world titles" deal. That's why I went this way.

With only world, we almost always get the same answer. DiBiase or Perfect.

Rick Martel was the AWA World Heavyweight champion.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 06:22 PM

I thought so....Thanks to midnight showings on ESPN a few years back.

Mooияakeя™ 04-02-2010 06:34 PM

If this was just major titles, I'd go for The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase. I would of said Hennig, but I think he has a mini run with the AWA heavyweight strap.

But if it's anyone who hasn't ever had a belt really... ummm...

Brian Pillman?

Schlomey 04-02-2010 06:38 PM

Perfect was IC champion and that was a predominant championship in those days.

Now that I think again, I liked Stevie Richards at one point (RTC was original, not necessarily good). He never held anything apart from the hardcore title.

Another thing you could add is just singles titles, because if it was just singles titles that wrestler hadn't won then you can add a lot of tag team partners that never got the same push as their partner.

Such as Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, I.R.S and Bam Bam Bigelow. I wanted to add Marty Janetty, but I realized he won an IC title in 1993

XCaliber 04-02-2010 07:44 PM

Curt Hennig, William Regal, Gregory Helms, D'Lo Brown, & Rene Dupree those are a just a few guys that come to mind right off the top of my head.

Jeritron 04-02-2010 07:46 PM

Aside from the fact that they've all held multiple titles
