Games you wish they made a sequel too

I love the entire Sim series, well not the Sims so much, but Sim Ant, Sim City, Sim Earth, Sim Tower and Sim Life.

It would have been nice if they went on with Sim Earth and made a few sequals. It would have been really sweet if you could then import which ever Sim Earth to Sim City 4 to have a content already designed to build your cities on. Or something like that.

Discuss.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-13-2010 11:29 AM

SHENMUE 2

Fuck :wavesad:

But as for games that never actually got even a single sequel, Ristar.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-13-2010 11:31 AM

Oh, and the guy who made Sim Tower did actually make a sequel called Yoot's Tower, which is even more bad-ass than the original. He just left Maxis and couldn't call it Sim Tower.

Kane Knight 04-13-2010 11:41 AM

I knew this was a BDC thread from the front page based on the spelling.

Like usual, Skies of Arcadia.

LoDownM 04-13-2010 11:43 AM

Legend of Dragoon. They put a lot of work into the lore(or whatever you wanna call it) that they could've done a prequel for the sequel.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-13-2010 11:43 AM

Fuck, damn Skies of Arcadia was awesome too.

Right, no-one mention anymore Sega games that weren't given a sequel treatment, or I might be depressed.

My buddy Max would love you.

I've never heard of anyone else who liked this game.

Xero 04-13-2010 12:59 PM

Snow Bros.

The 16-bit version is nice, but it's a remake, not a sequel.

Edit: Okay, apparently there was an arcade sequel in Europe.

I'd like to see one in the states on a console, though. Or even the original for that matter on XBLA or VC.

Dark-Slicer Diago 04-13-2010 01:06 PM

I kinda wish No Mercy's sequel, Backlash, wasn't cancelled.

Ermaximus 04-13-2010 01:23 PM

Chrono Trigger

A true sequal, not Chrono Cross.

Yeah, that's one of my big Sega games I would have loved to have seen a sequel to. Also had always hoped for a Vectorman 3, which never happened, as well as a sequel to XIII.

There is a "cult following" of people who love that game and hail it as the best game ever. I played it and though it was alright but I didn't finish it. Most people don't care.

A few have already been mentioned.
Comix zone
Eternal Darkness
Theme Hospital (and Park)
Space Station Silicon Valley

They also need to make sequels to:
Populous: The Beginning
Bonanza Bros (A real sequel, not that Japan only spin-off stuff)
ActRaiser
Skull Monkeys
Luigis Mansion
Yoshi's Island

I'll probably have more later.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-14-2010 02:04 AM

ActRaiser had a sequel. It was shit :(

I'd also claim Yoshis Island DS is a sequel to the original. I'd go as far to say it's better than the original too.

I know ActRaiser had a sequel. I never played it but I've heard it's pretty bad. A sequel that was more like the first game is what I want.

I guess YI DS is a sequel. I didn't like it as much as the first YI though.

What about Maniac Mansion 2 (not Night of the Tentacle, that's more of a spin-off focused on Bernard, isn't it?) or Cannon Fodder?

We already have an updated version of Cannon Fodder theme, referencing the current war, apparantly sung by the original developers. Make a new CF, stick it on XBLA and other download services.

It's a great game but, not the best ever, Suikoden 1 & 2 were better.

Johnny Vegas 04-14-2010 03:32 AM

Definitely Final Fantasy VII

One I would like to see is kill.Switch..I LOVED that game.

Emperor Smeat 04-14-2010 03:46 AM

Eternal Darkness although it is possible now that Silicon Knights got a $4 million grant from Canada and Nintendo does have that Vitality Sensor they could use to create new sanity moments (Nintendo owns the Sanity effects from the 1st game).

Conkers Bad Fur Day, WWF No Mercy (more for keeping the engine than being a true sequel), and The Punisher (2005 version and not NES/Genesis version).

dronepool 04-14-2010 05:52 AM

Turtles In Time 2 with the Devil May Cry/Hitman engine.

Yeah, Actraiser needs a good sequel. I forgot how addictive that game was until it came out for the VC. My biggest complaint was how poorly the avatar handled in the action sequences. Even then, I remember when that was like, the creme de la creme.Always wondered why so many awesome games had shitty sequels, especially ones that basically forgot what it was that made the first ones awesome.

Same goes for today, for the record. Not just picking on the 80s and 90s.

And BDC still fucks up the title.

The original Duke Nukem had plenty of sequels. Unless you're referring to Duke Nukem: Forever. It may sound insane but I'm still going to hold out some kind of hope that eventually it will see the light of day.

3d Realms shut down. I'd give up if I where you.

Drakul 04-15-2010 01:19 AM

I think someone else has the rights now so they could, in theory, churn out Duke Nuke Forever.

I'm not saying they ever will but they can.

Emperor Smeat 04-15-2010 01:29 AM

The source code for the game is the key since supposedly every version except the current one literally was tossed or deleted. The boss in charge of the studio was one of those "tech whores" who kept ordering the maps and engines to be deleted or tossed when new tech was available or if he didn't like the map itself.

Only reason the game has any demo screens and footage is because of Take-Two (I believe its them) used the courts to get the rights for the source code.

Yeah, I believe it's Take-Two who has it now, and I think the two sides are duking it out in court which is why no new developments have been heard recently, although I've been looking to gaming news sites for any tidbits about the case.
