Games that didnt live up to the huge hype...

Name some video games that sucked and u returned the same day.
Biggest Dissapointment games....

50 Cent Bullet Proof
25 To Life
TNA Impact

Sorry but i heard all this good stuff about this game n i got it n played 2 min of it n i felt like i was playin a Sega Genesses game..God Of War 3. Just my opinion.

Kane Knight 04-24-2010 12:58 AM

Impact had hype? Really?

dronepool 04-24-2010 01:01 AM

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Such a disappointment. I still have it because Deadpool is in it, but still compared to 1... it could have been better than 1 but it failed to do that.

yeah that was a pretty big stinker...but it was cool that you could used ripped music as your theme. That was a first i believe for its time.

LOL.

Fanboys are amazing.

lol seriously?

How is keeping something because it has a character you like considered fanboy? It's still an okay game, just not as good as the first.

Xero 04-24-2010 08:27 AM

Duke Nukem Forever.

Funky Fly 04-24-2010 09:17 AM

The True Crime series. Fucking everyone loves it, but it's just 3 different games slapped together and then made shitty.

Final Fantasy 13. Before anyone starts, let me just say it's not a bad game, it's just not as good as it's made out to be. Frankly the only thing that was hyped more than this was Obama as the Second Coming.

XCaliber 04-24-2010 11:30 AM

Wrestlemania 21

bigdaddysuperfreak 04-24-2010 12:25 PM

You dont think God of War 3 was great?

OssMan 04-24-2010 02:42 PM

grand theft auto 4

Buzzkill 04-24-2010 02:58 PM

Fable.

Still an awesome game but definitely didn't live up to the hype

Destor 04-24-2010 03:31 PM

there are like 6 games listened in here i think are great...maybe i have shitty taste...

What Sega Genesis games have you been playing?

------

Anyway as for the actual question, while I thought it was still a good game I don't really think Modern Warfare 2 was deserving of all the hype it got, I guess it's more because I'm not really into playing competitive multiplayer and play games more for Single Player or Co Op, but it just was nowhere near as good as it was made out to be.

.44 Magdalene 04-24-2010 05:00 PM

Yeah, some of these games had problems, but alot of it was stuff I saw coming (and thus didn't affect the hype). God of War 3 being really short, Impact being sloppy, 50 Cent Bulletproof being... errrr.

.44 Magdalene 04-24-2010 05:02 PM

And for all of FF13's "FINAL FANTASY IS BACK BABY" hype, there's still pleeenty of "IT'S LINEAR AND IT'S NOT EVEN AN RPG OMG" anti-hype.

Not an entirely inaccurate statement

Kalyx triaD 04-24-2010 05:33 PM

I remember the dreading realization that Devil May Cry 2 just wasn't as cool as the trailers that preceded it. It's the only one I had no interest in finishing - and I'm a total DMC fanboy.

Going his perception of having things and keeping them from a certain property because we like that said property, it could be pretty accurate. I'm pretty sure we're all enthusiastic about something. It could be music, movie characters/franchises or anything.

Despite stereotypical portrayal based on the masses, not all "fanboys" are mindless "marks".

.44 Magdalene 04-24-2010 05:42 PM

Well, there's certain lines to be crossed.

I probably wouldn't have watched Law Abiding Citizen if it didn't have Gerard Butler in it. On the other hand, I still haven't watched the Gamer because it looks like shit.

I love Capcom to fucking death, but I've gotten rid of plenty of Capcom games, and have never really gotten into the Monster Hunter franchise for instance. Nor do I support this silly DRM shit they're doing right now. If a Capcom game sucks I'm taking it back--though if Capcom were a single man instead of a company I would go down on him.

.44 Magdalene 04-24-2010 05:45 PM

All I'm saying is, a trade in would be the difference between paying 65 dollars for a game that has Deadpool in it, and maybe like thirty or forty dollars for a game that had Deadpool in it when you used to own it.

dronepool 04-24-2010 05:51 PM

That's a fair point. But I didn't hate the game, I was just disappointed in it. If it was really terrible and seething with suck, I'd sell it.

I never supported Wolverine: Origins and "Deadpool" was in it. I watched the leaked copy and never bothered to buy it or pay for it in theaters.

And I actually paid 45 bucks for it. I usually don't trade in games unless I really hate them or if I don't plan on playing it ever again. I traded Devil May Cry 4 and a few PSP games for MUA2 because I knew I wasn't going to play them.

Destor 04-24-2010 05:59 PM

I <3 the x-men legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance franchise :-\

dronepool 04-24-2010 06:01 PM

X-Men Legends 2 and MUA1 were good. I just hope they use a different engine for 3. I always had a slight problem with that overhead view.

Destor 04-24-2010 06:05 PM

I hope they never change that...

Destor 04-24-2010 06:05 PM

It feels like Gauntlet

Kalyx triaD 04-24-2010 06:17 PM

I liked MUA gameplay better than MUA2 (I was also let down). They removed certain RPG elements and the game felt too frantic, the camera should be pulled back.

Destor 04-24-2010 06:18 PM

Yeah, not saying it was the best of the franchise (Xmen legends 2 for my money) but I still dug it.

dronepool 04-24-2010 06:23 PM

my main problem with MUA2 was it took me longer to beat MUA1 which was on PS2 where as this is a PS3/360 game. The first one felt more adventurous with more Marvel environments.

I sorta wish instead of going the Civil War route, they did a sequel on the first story line.

Destor 04-24-2010 06:27 PM

My biggest grip was the 3 unlockable charecters suuuuuuuucked. Hulk was fucking worthless.

Assassin's creed

D Mac 04-24-2010 08:37 PM

Assassins Creed was/is awesome, bitch. :foc:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

I'd say Killzone 1 and 2. And RE:5

Swiss Ultimate 04-24-2010 09:58 PM

All Sonic sequels.

Emperor Smeat 04-24-2010 10:12 PM

God of War 1 but mostly due to lack of camera control made the majority of the puzzles and walking on skinny planks/ledges more frustrating than fun.

Most of the Medal of Honor games after Frontline/Allied Assault, Perfect Dark Zero, and all the Super Monkey Ball games after the 2nd one.

I want to second RE5, as well. It wasn't bad, but... 4 was practically god damn revolutionary. I was asking too much when I asked for 5 to be half the man 4 was.

Definitely, I picked this game up brand new and tried it out, and couldn't believe how bad it was I thought I had a defective copy or something so I returned it for another one. As it turns out every one of them is the same piece of garbage.

Fignuts 04-25-2010 12:25 AM

I think the word "fanboy" gets thrown around the internet too much, and should really be reserved for more extreme cases. Dronepool not trading in a decent game, because he likes deadpool, isn't really fanboyism, to me.

Would be fanboyism, if he fully endorsed the game and ignored all it's flaws, just because deadpool is in it.

RE5
Tony Hawk Ride

I'm still pretty convinced that nobody should have been excited about Ride.

The Franchise 04-25-2010 04:04 AM

gears of war 2

Extreme Angle 04-25-2010 09:14 AM

Gears of War 2

I felt exactly the same way. The fist MUA was so epic and you got to travel to so many locations across the Marvel Universe. It truly felt like an epic adventure. MUA 2 was meh..and to top it off the game was wayyyy too short. Seeing how MUA ended..I was thinking that at the end of the Civil War story in MUA2..we would see Galactus return and fuck shit up or something but noooo

dronepool 04-25-2010 06:08 PM

Exactly. After I beat it, I felt like "that's it?" where as after I beat MUA1 I was content. It was alright, but nothing special.

LuigiD 04-25-2010 06:38 PM

Well, after I beat MUA I felt like I needed to give it another run..all the extra costumes, the "different" decisions one could make.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-25-2010 07:06 PM

I dunno, I enjoyed and finished 2 twice.

The Deadpool moments of hilarity when he's on your team in the level where you fight him are worth it alone.

alvarado52 04-25-2010 07:11 PM

i was stoked that they released DLC with Carnage, but i didnt realize their license expired or something, and the DLC was removed before i could DL it.

Big Fat Mike 04-25-2010 07:38 PM

I second the nomination of Bioshock 2.

How about Final Fantasy 11 w/hard drive? The game wasn't great and the ps2 HDD ended up being useless by conventional standards.

yes...by conventional standards. But then people starting using the HDD drive for bigger sizes and using things like HDAdvance to rip games straight to it :) Great success.

D Mac 04-26-2010 05:40 AM

Fuck off. Bioshock 2 is awesome.

I have not played this game, but I am already unhappy with it since the DLC is already on disc and you are paying to unlock what you already own.

D Mac 04-27-2010 05:55 AM

Yeah that's pretty gay, but the regular game itself is very involving.

I thought every GTA after 3 had more hype than they where worth, but I guess that's just me.

One of the CoD/MW games. I've never been a fan but my sister and brother-in-law brought it up when they visited for Christmas a couple years ago. I tried the game out briefly and it was just really "so what?" and bland. I don't understand how the series can be regarded so highly.
