War's Over?

So, is the big TNA announcement that they're moving back to Thursdays? What do you guys think?

VSG 05-03-2010 05:47 PM

More likely the induction of Luger into their roster. Anyway let's see..

BigDaddyCool 05-03-2010 05:48 PM

lol, that would be hilarious. Also for there to be a war, WWE would need to acknowledge something is happening.

Xero 05-03-2010 05:49 PM

Throwing nerf balls at a heavily armored tank is not a war.

FourFifty 05-03-2010 05:50 PM

What war? Did I forget the last six months of my life, AGAIN?!?!?!?

Lol. I actually pictured EB and Hogan throwing nerf balls at Vince in a tank, while he just laughs at them. Nice.

kareru 05-03-2010 05:53 PM

heyman?

Xero 05-03-2010 05:53 PM

It's Luger. Lex Luger.

No, but I bet Hogan, Eric and Dixie wish they could forget the last 6 months.

BigDaddyCool 05-03-2010 05:55 PM

I bet they wish they could forgot a majority of TNA history.

VSG 05-03-2010 05:57 PM

As noted earlier, TNA President Dixie Carter announced the following on her Facebook this afternoon:
TNA will make a major announcement during tonights TNA iMPACT! on Spike TV at 8ET/7CT. We strive to deliver what our fans want, and the next step in the evolution of the TNA brand will do just that.

Hulk Hogan is eating his hat with a pinch of salt, brother!

screech 05-03-2010 05:57 PM

Can't say I'm really surprised.

Xero 05-03-2010 05:57 PM

"So, what did you do for the last few months?"

Bischoff: I bought a new yacht and started a midget wrestling promotion!

Hogan: I bought Nick a new car and a week's supply of tanning spray!

Dixie: I own TNA.... :$

St. Jimmy 05-03-2010 05:58 PM

You'd think if you started your promotion with Ken Shamrock as your first champion you could go nowhere but up.

You would think... But the problem is they have had 8 years to build a brand and an idenity and look at where they are now, they have all the guys that were in WWE when they started up and they have built what 3 of their own stars in that time period? This is why there is no war, WWE has proven it can make new stars almost at the drop of the hat, no other promotion in the past 20 years can claim to have made as many stars as WWE.

BigCrippyZ 05-03-2010 06:07 PM

Hogan: ''You know brother, moving to monday nights brother, was a hell of a ride brother. But you know something brother, Thursday nights is where our home is brother, and Thursday nights is where we belong brother! So were going back to Thursday nights brother, and we're going to run wild on those Thursday nights brother!''

Close enough.

Xero 05-03-2010 06:08 PM

I honestly can't see how they can make moving back to Thursdays, if it happened, sound good.

There's just no way they can do it after all the shit they've flung.

VSG 05-03-2010 06:10 PM

R.C reports that to be the case, and apparently the officials have notified the locker room about the move back to Thursday. Pity we don't have Russo in here actually.

kareru 05-03-2010 06:11 PM

perhaps the announcement is that they are going live every week

screech 05-03-2010 06:12 PM

Carter is selling the promotion to McMahon.

The locker room would hate it. One of the reasons people go to TNA is the ability to work just 2-3 consecutive nights every fortnight.

Xero 05-03-2010 06:14 PM

Yeah, it's pretty much confirmed that they're moving back to Thursdays.

LOL. Epic fail.

Mr. JL 05-03-2010 06:15 PM

Lame

FearedSanctity 05-03-2010 06:16 PM

Don't think it'd be moving back to Thursdays, as that is hardly "the next step in the evolution of TNA." Probably live every week or some "name" (No, not Luger) coming in

Xero 05-03-2010 06:16 PM

.5 don't lie.

Xero 05-03-2010 06:16 PM

From PWInsider:

According to a source at SpikeTV, tonight will be the final live Impact on Mondays. The series will return to Thursday broadcasts at 9 PM next week. TNA talent were told within the last hour personally by President Dixie Carter.

ClockShot 05-03-2010 06:16 PM

So the experiment failed.

Now we play "How long until Spike TV cancels TNA altogether?"

FearedSanctity 05-03-2010 06:16 PM

Yep, just read a report and Xero's post, DISREGARD PREVIOUS POST PLZ

The Franchise 05-03-2010 06:18 PM

What, already? Why? They should at least try until the summer since WWE has only recently entered into their "down period." Is this TNA's choice or is Spike making them move back?

Xero 05-03-2010 06:18 PM

Isn't this the definition of regression and not evolution? lol

FearedSanctity 05-03-2010 06:18 PM

Although, IMO, this is an overreaction to last week's rating. Look at Impact's rating on taped weeks compared to live weeks, the difference is DRASTIC.

Obviously Spike.

And why would they keep a show on in that timeslot when the REPLAY does better and it's been on a steady decline in the live slot?

But you also have to realize that, save two weeks or so, they've been going lower and lower.

VSG 05-03-2010 06:21 PM

Is it atleast live on Thursday? Not that it should really make a ratings difference, but more like to indicate Spike's confidence in TNA.

Xero 05-03-2010 06:22 PM

Not sure. It would be better if it was, obviously. Or at least on the one week live one week taped schedule.

True, but still, it's not like RAW's ratings have been impressive either. Even they've dropped in recent weeks.

I'm for the move as a means of building the fanbase back up and possibly improving it. But from the outside looking in it makes TNA look incredashitty

Xero 05-03-2010 06:23 PM

TNA better not try this again until they're pulling 2's at least.

I know TNA being successful and starting a real war would be great for wrestling fans, but they are so fucking terrible that all I can do is "lol" at this point. The only reasons to even rarely tune into TNA is to see what Kurt is up to and maybe the odd wank to Velvet Sky.

Ruien 05-03-2010 06:24 PM

TNA moving back to Thursdays bites! 3 hours of wrestling each Monday is pretty cool, even if its just being able to laugh at Ric going WOOOOO in a wheel chair. But really, the only thing I look forward to on TNA now is Matt Morgan. Some of the other stuff is okay, but once Matt is off t.v there is no real reason to keep watching (Kurt Angle is taking some time off).

This has to be a swerve, no way it can be legit. How can you even word it to your fans that you got beat so badly in a 2 month span that you have to leave Mondays and go back to crappy Thursdays. This just ended TNA if its true.

BigCrippyZ 05-03-2010 06:25 PM

Not sure if this is going to help or hurt yet. Part of me says it's a good move and part of me says they're going to come off looking weaker than ever after making such a big deal out of moving to Mondays. I think this may be a loose loose scenario for TNA. It needs to at least be live on Thursday's every other week for them to stand a chance of this being a positive move.

FearedSanctity 05-03-2010 06:26 PM

Curious to see what the first Impact back on Thursdays rating will be. Higher than the 1.2 they were averaging? Because even on Mondays TNA got a 1.0, the replay was still getting .5-.8, unless for whatever sick reason people were compelled to watch TNA AGAIN

Ruien 05-03-2010 06:28 PM

Not many people they got during their Monday night span will keep watching. What new fan is really going to put it in their head to remember Thursdays is Impact night? Most the newer fans have Mondays as wrestling night, they just knew Impact was on because of Raw/

Xero 05-03-2010 06:28 PM

Still trying to figure out how they're going to put a positive spin on this without going into ratings.

Dixie: I was renewing the contract and my hand slipped. I went to check "Monday 8PM timeslot" and marked off "Thursday 9PM timeslot" instead. My bad.

As long as he's getting a paycheck he ain't bailing.

Bischoff might. He has outside projects and probably won't want to be associated with this shit at this point. I've heard he's been backing off creatively to let Hogan take the heat, so who knows.

I posted this on Dixie's facebook:

Dixie, I know where you can find the answers to your biggest problems with TNA. No, it's not Lex Luger. No, he's not the next step. He'll do less for you than Hogan did, which lets face it was less than shit. Send me a message, and I'll let you in on the answers to the questions you have about how to fix TNA. I want your company to succeed. I want your company to actually compete with WWE, but so far it's like you're throwing nerf balls at a tank. Not gonna work out like that. You think it's bad now, wait til Hogan gets the itch to ba a part of Wrestlemania again. It will happen...

The answer of which I speak? A link to the "This bitch is in over her head" thread.

Credit to Xero for the "Nerf Balls" comment.

REALLY? Watching TNA at 8 pm est was awesome on Mondays. It gave me a hour before Raw to enjoy some wrestling and get interested in STORYLINES like WCW once did. Eventually, TNA could have gotten me to be a full fledge fan. I use to be a HUGE WCW fan back in the day.

Since the invasion, I've been stuck with WWE because I've been with the wrestlers, storylines, and the production for years now.

I feel that TNA hasn't given me a chance to become a MONDAY NIGHT FAN. I hate wrestling later in the week.

Thats gay...

Thursday is for drinking as it's the end of the week, not watching men in tights, flopping around in a ring.

This signals the weak confidence that Dixie Carter has.

BTW.. DIXIE CARTER NEEDS TO LEAVE RINGSIDE.. IT'S KINDA HARD TO DO SHOOTS WHEN THE OWNER IS SITTING RIGHT THERE.. or you'd think...

TheAdamEvansFan 05-03-2010 06:53 PM

I was actually willing to give TNA a chance since they had the guts to move to Monday Nights.

I feel they jumped the gun by moving back. You're backtracking now... I also want to say that Ryan Clark is doing shitty reporting lately.

You're opinions are too obvious and it's getting in the way of the editorials. You say TNA is moving back to thursdays and it's a good thing for the company. So after the first year in OKLAHOMA CITY, THE Thunder had a big losing season. Guess they should have moved back to Seattle huh? This year, they went 6 games in the Playoffs vs the Lakers... Good thing they didnt!

TNA has no balls whatsoever... Staying in Universal Studios, Staying on Thursday Nights, staying too late in the night on tv instead of at 8 pm est, it's all hogwash.. It's not the wrestling WWE fans will trade up for so guess TNA will stay #2 for a LONG time..

I expect to see some people rethinking their TNA debuts from the WWE now.

I sure the hell am sticking on USA from now on when it comes to wrestling. And you can rip the spoilers up for TNA cuz I aint interested now.

Next you'll tell me that Bischoff is fired and Hogan died in the back.

I'm not gonna take the time to find any instances, if you can't think of any you haven't been paying attention.

No they haven't said they'd put WWE out of business or kill their rating, but the move itself is proof TNA think they're big shit. If they'd have known this decision would have gone the way it has, I promse you they wouldn't have considered it.

TNA, both on screen and through any other means, have always compared themselves to WWE or "other companies/places/whatever term they liked to use" saying how much better they were, always trying find ways to compete with them and taking little digs at them whenever possible.

Meanwhile, WWE doesn't even acknowledge their existence.

TNA went into this thinking they were hot shit and could put a dent in RAW, instead they may have almost gotten themselves canceled. I guarantee you TNA have learned some humility here

Pretty ridiculous considering all the shit they pulled.

Honestly, the Monday Night experiment and the Hogan experiment are pretty much the same thing. They brought in Hogan to gain attention. It didn't work. That's the extent of the "pros" in the Hogan situation. The "cons" are that he's potentially lethal to the lockerroom, and product. That, and he obviously collects a huge paycheck.
If they're going back to Thursdays they should really try to move away from having Hogan all over their product, and try to get out of his contract/minimize his presence.

The Franchise 05-03-2010 07:00 PM

TNA facing a crushing defeat so early on is good. Hopefully this snaps them back to reality and they can get their shit together and improve their product for at least a year. Once they are getting better fan reception and maybe hitting 2.0 on Thursday, they will be ready to challenge WWE on Monday.

This is like HHH getting squashed at WM 12.

<table class="tborder" align="center" border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" width="100%"><tbody id="collapseobj_usercp_reputation" style=""><tr><td class="alt2">http://www.tpww.net/forums/images/re...on_balance.gif</td> <td class="alt1Active" id="p305306214957" width="50%"> War's Over? </td> <td class="alt2" nowrap="nowrap">05-03-2010 07:00 PM</td> <td class="alt1" nowrap="nowrap"> TheAdamEvansFan </td> <td class="alt2" width="50%">He's a douchebag</td></tr></tbody></table>

Don't really get the context unless he misrepped someone or he's talking to me in the fourth person.

It'd help if it wasn't neutral.

I'd also like to know this. I would love to see Kurt back in the 'E.

Funny how he tried to negative rep you but ended up giving no rep instead. Can guys with negative rep not negative rep?

Xero 05-03-2010 07:10 PM

Right, it doesn't count either way, so it's white.

TheAdamEvansFan 05-03-2010 07:11 PM
