 holy crap if thats real this movie looks awsome |
WTF! I kid you not, I was 5 minutes away from making a thread on this very subject, I guess great minds think alike.
Back on point, yeah, awesome doesn't begin to describe how I felt after seeing this trailer. At first I thought it was fake, until I saw that actor from Undisputed II and Spawn. Did a quick Google search, and yep this seems pretty legit. The whole aspect of the MK lore being set in a realistic comprehension is a fresh concept, which is surprising when considering how far this franchise had been rode into the ground. Definitely looking forward to it. |
That was awesome.
Wow......looks awesome.
That Baraka looks much more intimidating than the Baraka in MK: Annihilation. |
That does look pretty sweet, and this seems too detailed to be a fan made trailer, especially with Jeri Ryan in there. The idea of a reboot could be pretty awesome, considering how ridiculous the games have gotten.
holy fuck, i can't wait
Wonder if they'll still have guys getting frozen to death or having their hearts ripped out.
And how will they handle Goro? |
The Dark Knight treatment comes to Mortal Kombat. Looks pretty good though.
That was pretty cool.
If Michael Jai White has a starring role in a movie it's probably not going to be good. I kind of think this fake though. |
What was the department thinking putting a famous person like Johnny Cage undercover?

I wonder what "the tournament" will look like. I thought for sure Michael Jai White was going to reveal himself as Raiden at the end. What is all this 'possible' stuff? Is it not official? It's clearly a real production, as Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan are in it. The only other possibility would be that it's an elaborate cinematic for a video game. I've never seen an 8 minute trailer before. |
That's one of the reasons why I don't think it's "real."
What you see is real obviously, but I think this Trailer is it. I don't think there is a movie. |
Well in that case it would have to be part of a video game. I don't think they'd get Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan for a fan film. Not that they're highly demanded actors, but they're still names.
I'm not sure. I wouldn't be suprised if it was to create big hype for a movie, but I also wouldn't be suprised if it was just a cut scene from a video game. |
Quote:
i hope iam wrong and this is a movie and comes out soon. |
Actually the fact that the actors are that low rent might point to it being a video game. A Mortal Kombat movie might not attract A-listers, but if the project was going to be this ambitious you'd think they'd shoot a little bit higher for the cast.
Maybe Lou Diamond Philips is Sub Zero. Dean Cain and Antonio Sabato Jr. are also possibilities
Warner Bros. looking to reboot franchise, but Threshold Entertainment filed new breach of contract lawsuit to prevent it from moving forward.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293429/ 'Mortal Kombat' Movie in the Works as a 7-Minute Introduction Arrives 44 minutes ago | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news » Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion Talk of a new "Mortal Kombat" movie has gained steam over the past year or so and today it seems to have boiled over as a new seven-minute video starring Michael Jai-White as the video game character Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade has hit the Internet and Chud has confirmed it is related to a new film. Devin Faraci writes: This is for the movie, and it comes from the mind of genius fight choreographer Larnell Stovall. He's the guy who did the fights for the excellent Undisputed 3: Redemption, on DVD and Blu-Ray right now. I hope that this movie gets made with Larnell plotting the punches, because this guy isn't just a geek like us, he's also got an incredible skill and ambition to create the next generation of fight choreography. I've only seen the 1995 version of Mortal Kombat based on the Midway video game, » - Brad Brevet New ‘Mortal Kombat’ Film Trailer 1 hour ago | GameRant | See recent GameRant news » Early this morning, a mysterious trailer for an unannounced Mortal Kombat project appeared on YouTube -- posted under the title Mortal Kombat Rebirth. The trailer is over seven minutes long and features high production values -- including performances by Michael Jai White as Jackson “Jax” Briggs and Jeri Ryan as Sonya. It’s unclear at this point whether the viral trailer will ultimately lead us to a new Mortal Kombat film or a new video game installment. However, given the real-world spin, I’d say we’re looking at a new film. Check out the Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer after the jump: Looks a bit too ambitious for a fan-made trailer, right? However, the logistics of a new Mortal Kombat film are a bit complicated. Warner Bros. was moving forward on a Mortal Kombat reboot -- with writer Oren Uziel already attached to pen the screenplay, but shortly thereafter, the » - Ben Kendrick http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293429/news#ni2782669 Looks like it's a go. The Youtube account was made recently and it's the first and only video it has? Looks good. I don't know if anything is official yet since I see nothing about it on Michael Jai White or Jeri Ryan's imdb.com pages. I also see nothing on the Mortal Kombat page either. I'm thinking either things just got official today or this little trailer is a show of promise and things still are uncertain or unclear. At first I thought it was cheesy to have these supernatural characters based on real people and becoming them because that kind of changes what we know about Reptile and Scorpion and Baraka but they are trying to make it workable and not so much like a video game movie. But in a way they seem to have kept things the same. Jax and Sonia are the same with little differences. I have a feeling Scorpion is an assassin and Sub-Zero was a member of a Triad or Yakuza clan so they are basically the same. It's like just change the fact that they are on Earth and it's more modern times but it's still essentially the same. Like Romeo and Juliet in more modern times can the story of Scorpion and Sub-Zero be as well. |
The Undisputed trilogy is not bad actually. I like the first one with Wesley Snipes but the third one I like because of the main character. With that said Scott Adkins needs to be in more cool movies. He's like a better version of Ray Park.
What the hell, that was badass. Would see this movie in a heartbeat.
Sweet.
my cum came
WHEN IS COMING OUT.,..;... OMFGGGGGGGGGGG
I was able to pause it right on the moment that they showed sub zero's face but i dont know how to paste the image here
Awesome, but looking at that now it's sort of another thing that leads me to believe this is related to some kind of video game.
Holy fucking shit. Jizzing myself right now.

Well the buzz seems big. It should work.
I was going to say, if it did turn out to not be for a movie, there would be such an outcry that they'd probably just use it for the upcoming movie anyways |
Looks fucking awesome. But not gonna lie, this film will seem all big and well-hyped, and will end up being one of the bigger-budget straight-to-DVD releasees.
I was immensely impressed by that clip there, I really hope it turns out to be a reboot of the Mortal Kombat film franchise.
Also, Johnny Cage jobbing again. :nono:
This is Awesome!
I loved it..with the exception of Johnny Cage getting killed..always been my favorite!
Reminds me of how after MK vs. DC, the Mortal Kombat guys were running their mouths about giving us a more mature MK. I am excited for the project either if its a movie or a game. |
Needs more:

Looks amazing.
I'd netflix it.
That was sweet! Hopefully its not going to make us wait till 2013.
Holy shit. The guy playing Scorpion is the guy who played Ghost in the Matrix movies.
http://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpi...ngmatrix,0.jpg |
In some regards I think this is just a really well done fan film of some sort partly since Cage is dead plus the acting quality of the cop is worse then some done in the previous movies.
I think this might be the best movie news I've heard all year.
This is real and Reptile looks fucking sick.

Jeri Ryan goes from a season of Leverage to this? Ok.
I hope she gets the part.
I doubt she wants it.
Then why would she appear in that video, smart guy.
Friend of the director? That sort of thing happens all the time, by the way.
The opening segment of Sin City was shot all on Robert Rodriguez's dime, and as a favor from Josh Hartnett who's his friend. It was made to sell Frank Miller and the studio on the idea of making the movie. Granted, Josh Hartnett ended up playing the part, but actors doing test footage as a favor to a friend or for shits and gigs isn't something new. |
she sounded pretty excited to do it when talking about it on her twitter.... JUST SAYEN

She needs to STFU, messes with TPWW theories.

Hope this all comes out well in the end; while a complete revision of one my favorite childhood fighting games series did initially put me off, this presentation along with the notion of starting "fresh" does intrigue me.
Also, on the subject of this trailer, did anyone else notice that the actor playing Johnny Cage in the past is the same martial artist who played Len in the short lived Fox series "Kamen Rider - DragonKnight?: http://www.otakuusamagazine.com/Uplo...tion_20-fp.jpg It's an interesting observation that was recently brought to my attention, so I thought I'd share it. |
I think I saw him on a martial arts documentary several years ago on Discovery.
I thought it was badass the way he had that one final toke before having his head cut off.

So evidently this was produced to sell Warner Brothers on the idea of a re-done MK movie. Thoughts? IMO, it looks fucking sweet as hell. |

My b.

So for those who don't already know, Kevin Tancharoen is producing this as 10 webisodes. He's taken to posting some pics from production on his Twitter.
Kano, I believe http://img.mobypicture.com/96c40c86f...fd195_view.jpg Scorp, heading to a showdown with Subby, possibly? http://img.mobypicture.com/95b69e066...ab7f4_view.jpg Caption for this one is "Blue is not Kitana". So it's either Kitana, or not. http://img.mobypicture.com/405767468...83d83_view.jpg Get over here! http://img.mobypicture.com/81fb739cf...e883d_view.jpg All looking pretty good so far. |
So he's just funding this independently?
Hopefully it's as good as the trailer and gets on dvd. |
I think WB's backing him up. Looks interesting.
Yeah it was commissioned by the studio. Supposed to be released alongside the new game.
All kinds of awesome
THIS is how you market a game.

so where will this be able to be watched?

It's gonna be a web series, I believe. Probably an official site will pop up for it at some point.
Thought I heard it was starting in april
First clip from the series, now known as Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Nothing much, just a bit of a brawl between Kano and Jax, but the choreography looks pretty good. Series begins April 12 on Machinima.com.
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/gamenews.php?id=76069 |
I like the part where Kano grabs the gun and it looks like instead of shooting it he tries to smack Jax with it.
he didnt intend to smack him with it he got rushed before he could point it at him

Guess they rethought the whole half-robot look from the trailer. I don't hate it. |
WTF Kano is just a normal dude? No red eye. Kinda lame.
give it time...

Was that Kabal's helmet at the beginning?
no the robo ninjas
Yea, upon second inspection, it looks more like cyber smokes helmet. A/K/A The Real Sub-Zero.
12 mins is too short even for a webisode. What's with the slow motion, over dramatic camera style at the end with Sonya? We just watched her get herself loose, untie her legs and walk through the door all in slow motion. I think they should have shown that first then leave us with the jax/kano explosion.
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/373/barakab.jpg
Baraka. First thing from this series I don't like. Looks too World of Warcraft. |
Would have been better to keep the original Baraka that killed Johnny Cage in the initial trailer.
He also looks more related to Reptile than Baraka in the initial promo trailer. |
Is episode 2 up yet?
Don't think so. Might be weekly.
This show is insanely epic. You're telling me that they couldn't get funding for a half-hour program on television?
This would be a hit, hands down. |
