Yeah I'm sorry but that's an awful title. Besides being a mouthful, Revengeance sounds like the title of a shitty straight to DVD action flick starring Lou Diamond Phillips or something.

Quite possibly the worst subtitle ever.

You guys don't understand the significance of P* doing this game. It might out do Bayonetta. That's utterly insane. DmC just got bitch slapped. Ninja Gaiden 3's gonna get embarrassed. I love a good action game.

Ninja Gaiden is one of the greatest and most difficult games ever made. This new Metal Gear i just don't know about it. It doesn't have solid snake in it. But i will have to try it and it might be good who knows.

I was really looking forward to the original game and engine, but I guess there were issues with it that needed outsourcing. Since Bayonetta was awesome, I can't complain too much.

Solid Snake is done for man. Don't you think he received the treatment he deserved in MGS 4? the story was finished and won't be watered down. I wouldn't mind seeing a cameo or something tho.

Don't know how I feel about this. Ill probably play because I am a Metal Gear mark. The style of play is not really my thing tho.

Yeah people getting catty over the dropping of 'Solid', lack of stealth, and that decade old beef with Raiden as a character. They need to get that MGS2 stunt. Half of these maggots weren't old enough to read when that happened.

Platinum Games said they are treating the PS3 version as the "lead" platform but unlike Bayonetta, both versions will be treated equally and they won't be outsourcing the Xbox 360 version to another studio.

Everything I've seen since P* took over is pure platinum encased in gold. This game looks awesome. Might be better than Bayonetta.

Looks ok, but strays too far from MGS IMO... Not really a fan of Japanese Super Sword Ninja shizzle either if i'm frank.

I wouldn't even recommend this to somebody going through a MGS binge, this is a spin-off in every sense of the term. I like seeing the Metal Gear universe through a different lens, though.

It's a spin-off in a gameplay sense, sure, but the story picks up a few years after 4.

I don't think this story will have any serious effects on Solid's mythology. You can probably ignore it completely and it won't handicap your understanding of the eventual MGS5. It's pseudo-canon, which is fine. I'm saying this as a fan; I don't think you should see this as a follow-up to MGS4, even if it does technically take place after it.

Sort of like how SoulCalibur Legends, which takes place after SC2, is completely avoidable as far as story is concerned.

I suppose we can sort all that out once we actually, you know, play it.

Just read that Konami have pretty much stopped supporting the 360 in Japan altogether. Silent Hill HD isn't even coming out for 360 over there and neither is Downpour.

Highly doubt it will affect the West considering Konami released the MGS collection on he Xbox 360 along with the PS3. Sales-wise, the Xbox 360 is pretty close to the PS3 version overall.

Then again since the PS2 era games, Japan has been pretty much behind Europe and the West when it comes to sales on the Playstation brand. Don't think even MGS 4 managed to break a million in Japan.

Even the MGS game on the Gamecube sold better outside of Japan and that was just a remake of MGS 1 while the PSP games besides Peacewalker bombed in Japan.

Maybe MGS is, ironically, too Western for them? Kojima said long ago that the series is like a love letter to Western theme and style.

Hideo Kojima recently expanded on a few of the games details with the big one being how the day/night cycles ends up being the entire basis for the game.

Missions and areas will be restricted based on the time of the day while the clock itself is based on the console/PC own clock since there is no in-game clock. 1 minute of real-time is equal to the same minute in-game. Its similar in design to a game like Animal Crossing than in GTA for clock purposes.

I remember Rogue Squadron on the GCN having a real time day/night cycle for a training stage. I fucking loved it. I believe there was a Madden where you could set time and weather to real time so playing on a rainy was just that in game?

More games should do this.

Well I'm a moderate fan of the Metal Gear Universe, but this one is just not for me. MGS4 is the last I played and enjoyed. On top of that, I thought I'd post my comment in the thread relating to what I wanted to comment on. So yes, saving the £40, a well done.

According to Hideo Kojima, Gray Fox and not Raiden would have been the main character for the game if he was in charge of the game's development and not just on its production.

Ended up deferring the actual choice to the rest of the team who favored Raiden for the game.
