Official UFC 119 Thread - Welcome to Indy!
News, Rumors, anything involving this Event goes here. I know its not a big deal to most, but ITS STILL BIG TO ME DAMMIT!
( P.s. I'm going ) Lets start I'm pretty sure Matt Mitrione and Chris Lytle are going to be fighting matches on this card. I'm not sure who there opponents will be. I've read Lytle vs Badar. Dunno for sure. The potential big names who would be in line for another fight make my mouth water. GSP, Rampage, Rashad Evans, Rua ( injured? ), Machida? , Forrest maybe if he's not a drunk fat mess like he was on TUF. Kenny Florian maybe? I'm missing a few. So hyped. |
Lytle V Bader won't be happening, wrong weight classes. But Bader should def be on the card. Maybe against Mini Nog.
I believe they wanted to do Shogun V Evans, but Shogun will be out with a knee injury. It's possible that it could be a Rampage V Forrest rematch could be the main event. Also Guillard V Jeremy Stephens is also rumoured for the card. |
Did you see Forrest on TUF? Incredibly out of shape. Not just " 4 months from a fight " out of shape. It was like " I'm drinking everynight and dont give a shit " out of shape. He looked hung over half the time on that show. I dont know if Forrest is fighting again this year.
GSP will be a coach on TUF and it will air around UFC 119 so he's probably out of action until December. Rua's injury will probably disallow him to compete until late October I think.
Rampage vs Machida would be nice. They both need something. |
Rampage doesn't seem to want to fight Machida. Honestly can't think of any other possible fights that could main event this show other than Rampage V Forrest/Machida.
If Rampage won't be aggressive he probably doesn't stand a chance against Machida.
I wanna see Bader fight. Rampage needs to fight. Machida should fight too, but not each other! What's the deal with Rumble Johnson? He needs to get back on the horse too. Pitbull Alves could be a possibility too
Wanderlei silva might end up on it too

Petruder, you're gonna get one hell of a card, with what could amount to a LHW semifinals, Machida could be on this doozey too! With 120 looking to be a British affair and all
Does anybody have any live feeds for tonight?

lol. RP, you son of a bitch.
When is UFC 119?
September 25th. So not the quickest turnaround, but not the longest lay off either. Should know soon, since if Lesnar did accept to fight on the card, he would need to get back into training again pretty soon.
If this happens, i'll ejaculate in my own mouth.
I fucking love Lesnar and Valesquez. I mean holy shit. What if they put the Rampage vs Lil Nog on there as a co main event? O M F G'ing in my pants.
Cain’s standup is definitely better than Carwin’s, but is it as powerful? I just can’t see Cain knocking Lesnar out if Carwin couldn’t with all those bombs he was dropping. Lesnar will overpower Cain and force another submission.
Quote:
Lesnar is going need to respect Cain's stand up, which is going to make it harder for him to shoot in for the takedown. I wouldn't be expecting Lesnar to submit Cain in this one, Cain isn't going to tire like Carwin, and probably has better BJJ. This is going to be a good fight, and a hard one to call. |

Likewise, Carwin seems far more suited to being able to stuff a takedown than Velasquez. I’m not underestimating Velasquez, but Kongo was actually beating him on the feet. Every time they stood up, Kongo took it it to him. |
I believe Carwin was Division II, Valeaques is much better than Carwin I'm going to assume. Speed and quickness play a big part of wrestling, and Cain should be able to use his speed to avoid clinches with Brock.
The point you made was Kongo took it to him of the feet, yeah but Brock's striking is infantile compared to Kongo's. And Cain probably won't be looking to take Brock down, he's gonna wanna stand up with Brock, sinces Brocks boxing sucks. And if Cain wanted to take him down, he'd he'll have the advantage of using his striking to set up the takedown, something Brock can't do well. |
Velasquez doesn’t hit as hard as Carwin. He’s faster, but Lesnar is 20-30 lbs bigger than Velasquez. I just can’t see Velasquez being able to stop Lesnar’s takedown if it comes to it.

Where is Rumble? Add him to this card and we got a fucking Doozy |
RP, you better come with pics or you will definitely have to GTFO
No Cain/Lesnar at 119 for RP.
Though there should be Sean Sherk V Evan Dunham, which will be awesome.

Mir/Nog 2 is the main event |
BOOOO
meh. There were so many awesome opportunities for this card, this feels like a let down. There's plenty of time to salvage the bad taste in our mouths. Perhaps Page will get his shit in order and show on the card
I'm all for Nog/Mir 2, as Nog was sick the first time around.Might make the trip
pretty dissapointed
Mini Nog V Bader is probably gonna be the co-headliner. tbh it looks pretty cool.

that sound awsome
Big Nog V Mir 2
Mini Nog V Bader Lytle V Serra 2 Sherk V Dunham That's a pretty sick main card so far. |

Lol, I forgot to comment on this post. But yeah, it isn't difficult for a high level athlete to whip himself into shape, and then go into a camp and be octagon ready
I'm not a hundred per cent sure on the science of the matter, but I know guys who play just a decent level of rugby and they'll stop training for 2 months maybe just cuz of a knee injury or whatever, and it'll only take them about 2-3 weeks to get back into decent shape, cuz they train every day and their muscle memory kicks in.
Yeah, it's also the reason on a lot of these exercise/diet infomercials they use athletes coming off of injury. It's very easy to get back to where you need to be (well; compared to the normal person) so the results are quicker and more evident.
looks like it's shaping up into a pretty lackluster card :-\.
you know, if you were to run this past card WITHOUT Lesnar Carwin, would it have seemed lackluster? I have been wrestling with that question since I saw it. It's that old, was this card good because of the names, or was this card good because of the fights?
The Nogueira brothers will probably put on good fights, one being a rematch and the other being 2 guys who aren't afraid to throw hands. Serra/Lytle is gonna be crazy.
The rest is meh. |
So tickets go on sale Saturday, but i cant find ticket prices anywhere
cause ur gay
I think it looks like a decient card with The Muscle Shark making his return to the ring, Matt Sera fighting Chris Lytle, and the rematch between Big Nog Vs Mir. From what I've read the winner of the Nogueira Mir fight puts himself back into title picture down the line.
Down, the line, after JDS/Nelson, and the Lesnar/Carwin Rematch. And, if for some act of God, Lesnar loses, after his insta rematch.
this card is actually amazing... anyone thinking its mediocre or bad based on the fighters check themselves. Two former heavyweight champions, a tuf winner that has brutal KO power against a nogiera brother, a former lightweight champ, a former welterweight champ, oh yea and how many fight of the nights has lytle had in his career?
TICKETS are ranging from $40-$300
Go on sale next saturday. I'm going. Lytle vs Serra could be a fight of the year canidate. |
Dunham V Sherk should be a great fight as well. Oh and Guillard V Stephens should be a fucking war.
the whole thing looks great to be honest. Now that i've had some time to soak it in.
Yeah def. The card really should be awesome.
Also I'd imagine they'll add a couple of good undercard fights as well, which'll be a bit of a bonus.
