Would you be interested in a 'Fantasy Booking' competition? (SEASON ONE BOOKERS AND JUDGES POSTED)
An idea I had, and there are still some kinks to iron out...but first I want to see if you guys would be interested.
Basically, we'd start with a huge pool of active wrestlers. We'd keep it mainstream (WWE, TNA, and I guess ROH too). The participants would go through a draft, selecting one person at a time until everybody had something like 15-20 workers. You would name your organization, create some titles, form tag teams if you'd like, yadda yadda yadda. From there, you would book a show on paper, using at least a decent amount of detail as to what would happen during matches/segments. Maybe you'd end up booking four TV shows, leading up to a PPV. From there, people who aren't participating would rank the shows on a scale of 1 to 10, based on how they would enjoy seeing what you booked on television. After we get to the PPV round, all of the average ratings would be tallied (maybe we can even make the PPV count double), and the highest average rating would be named the winner for that 'season'. Then, we would start a season with completely new feds and new bookers. After five seasons or so, we could have an Ultimate Booker Showdown, pitting the five winners against each other in a new season to see who the best of the best really is. I know this all sounds scatterbrained right now and I'm skipping over a bunch of details, but I think it could be a lot of fun. I'm offering to be the one to keep track of scores and post deadlines and such, but I'm sure I could definitely use some help from some of you guys. How does this sound to you? Would you be interested in participating? Any suggestions? Let's talk about it. :y: |
I'm down. I love fantasy shit.
I saw the word 'draft' and became interested. Autoplay needs turning back on for it. Maybe older/dead wrestlers could be used depending how you work it out.
Realistically, I'd probably only run like 5 companies at a time so the that the task doesn't become too daunting. If it catches on, maybe we can do a few more companies for future seasons.
Also, I think Noid should be given a spot in the first season. Just saying. |
How long does a season last?
I was thinking four TV shows and a PPV. We could stretch it for a month, or we could book two shows a week to make things go faster.
Nothing is set in stone, here. I'm completely open to suggestions. |
I was also thinking about a 'Star Power' bonus for the PPVs, which I'll go into further detail about after I feed this baby.
You should have the submitted to a volunteer who would post them to be ranked anonymously.
I say this because the author will probably have an effect on how the booking is recieved and enjoyed. Noid would get glanced over or criticized for being Noid, and "jobber" posters wouldn't be taken as seriously as a lot of the established posters. I say this to look out for them, as taker707 or whatever could book a better show than you or I, but TPWW would probably never recognize that if names were on them. |
That's a good idea. If people PMed me their shows, I could just post them under the company's name. :y:
OK, about the 'Star Power' bonus....
I would like to have an esteemed team of judges who would comprise a 'weekly' (after each TV show round) Top 10 list for the entire 'universe', based on their performances on shows that are getting the best ratings and whatnot. The criteria will be completely up to the judges, just to add an element of randomness to it. The Top 10 may fluctuate from TV round to TV round, but when it comes time for the PPV round, a company can get bonus points for each Top 10 wrestler they have featured on their card. The board of judges are a way to get more people 'directly involved' without them actually running a company, and I figure the judges would change each season. Possibly even week to week. |
This sounds interesting :y:
<font color=goldenrod>Hell yes. In fact, if you head over to the Wrestling Sim topic in the VG forum, I post all the shows I book in my WWE EWR game. Love stuff like this.
http://www.tpww.net/forums/showpost....postcount=2127 There's a sample.</font> |
I would also like to factor in random injuries. If every wrestler has a 'number' attached to him/her (1 through whatever the fuck), it'd be easy enough to generate a random number and say that person is injured for a week/two weeks/all season. That factor may work better with a longer season, though.
yea, seems cool. definately keep it around 5. I don't think there's too many people on here who would be able to do the work consistently. I know I would get bored after Day 1 from all the typing.
Yeah, that's why I want to keep a short season. Honestly, it really wouldn't be TOO much typing.
What do you think would be a good roster size? 10? 15? 20? |
<font color=goldenrod>20-25 would be good. That's roughly the number of male wrestlers on a WWE brand.</font>
Yeah...and you obviously wouldn't have to use ALL of them on every show. Companys would have to state their projected segment/match lengths as well, not to exceed two hours on TV, three hours on PPV.
Also, so we wouldn't have to wait for people to post their initial draft picks, each company head could provide a priority list of the wrestlers they would like. When it's the company's draft turn, the highest available on the priority list will go to that roster.
Well I know I don't have the time to enter the competition this "season", so I put forth my name as a possible judge. This should be fun.
I'd totally do it.
But I laugh at including ROH as "mainstream". |
Count me in. I haven't done fantasy booking in years. Sounds like fun.

I don't know about that. There would be a lot of problems as far as "What constitutes a tag team". It would be much easier to just spend two picks on people and try to form your own tag teams or try to draft established ones if you can.
Then again I guess it MIGHT work if you specify who is together early on. Hart Dynasty counts as one, Usos count as one, Beer Money, etc. But the problem I see with mot teams outside, say, The Usos is that maybe I wanna use D.H. Smith and have no need for Tyson Kidd. Then what? I HAVE to draft both? |
Briscoes, American Wolves, Dudleys, WGTT etc...obviously they'd have to be current so someone couldn't get around the system and take Edge and Christian.
I would love to contribute in any way..I know I am new so if I cannot be an actual participant, I will judge or whatever else needs to be done.
sounds awesome, i'll defo judge if booking is solid.
I think we should make a rule that nobody can turn John Cena heel.
dang there goes my plan.
I know I'm a new poster (long time site follower, but new to the forums), but if there's an opening I would enjoy getting involved in this as well. I'd like to book, but if that's full I can judge instead.
Nothing's full yet. I'd love to give some newer guys a spot. Now that I know there's interest, I'll start the wheels forward. Trying to decide the most fair way to pick the first season of bookers, though. Numbers from a hat?
I might take ROH out of it with so few bookers.
Posters from english cities beginning with 'W' should probably get priority.
Speaking of weird things, where can i get the newest EWR thingy?
Think I could be a part of this? I saw this and it's one of the reasons I joined. Repeat: ONE of the reasons, not THE reason.
I wanna be a judge!
(also roh should exist in this. think of the roh roster as bringing someone up from a farming system. you get em to the stage and amke em somebody...just my opinion.)
I don't think ROH should be included.
1) Not everybody knows and is familiar with the talent in ROH. 2) Those that are aware have a good chance of going "OMGGGG ROH GUYS, THIS ONE WINS" |
its all about how they book em, not who theyre booking. you can book a great worker to be shit and shit worker to be great. and as booker its their job to make you care about their wrestlers, if anything less known guys present a greater challenge. if someone wants to take that on why not? isnt that the concept? like, this is a book off, yeah?
(ps-i dont think roh should be punished because it doesnt have a show on basic cable. their top workers are known by least at name by practially all of tpww. and in all reality any could be pulled up to TNA/wwe at any momoment. if someone wants and roh guy i dont see why they shouldnt be allowed to have em.) |
If including ROH and recent past guys ( I am talking like DDP or Malenko, not Gorgeous George) then we would be able to have more bookers...just a thought
'Too many cooks' and all that. Go small first and if it's 'successful' then more. IMO.
I guess ROH guys might not make it to the "super card" but like Destor went, it doesn't matter anywhere else. Anyway there seem to be more volunteers for judges than actual participants
3 bookers yeah?
Could I possibly try being a booker? I can be a judge if u rly want, but I think I can book a event.
Are we counting me as a booker or not?
<font color=goldenrod>I definitely want to book.</font>
I'd love to partake in this.
I've participated in loads of these, with some great results, and I've also helped run them. So if you need a hand, lemme know..
Also, i'm up for booking if there is a spot. |
I'm trying to decide a fair way to decide who the bookers for season one will be. Any ideas?
Also Destor, I was hoping you would get involved on the judge side.
Just have the interested parties pick a number and I am sure there is a program out there that will randomly choose 3 (or how many bookies you want) of those numbers.

Would anyone here be interested in a three-way with Orton and Cena?
I know that VSG...I was saying that I was glad he showed interest, you son of a bitch.
Then make it sound that way, with an exclamation mark or something that begins with "Ah, Destor!"
Note however that too much of that sounds like an orgasm  |
OK, this is the list of people I think are interested bookers right now:
Schlomey CSL XL Big Vito 22 Lock Jaw #1-wwf-fan DeathtotheSwiss Flash Funk RiX1024 Majunior Bizarro King DAMN iNATOR Paul Heyman Kapoutman Snowden Dr.Perfect Judges: Destor VSG thedamndest jerichoholicninja I'll give it a little more time to let some other people get a chance to be selected. Destor and VSG are confirmed judges, if they'd like to be. I'd like to get anywhere between five and ten judges. I was also thinking if a participant doesn't meet the deadline, the people who weren't selected to book can be on a 'reserve list' and the first person on the list can take over the company that no showed? Maybe? |
Quote:
I was hoping you would be persuaded into it, but alas!
On a serious note, I confirm my place as a judge. This should be fun. |
Thanx, this is something I really would be interested in trying out. IF I get chosen that is :P
I'm thinking instead of just averaging the show ratings, there'll just be a cumlative score which will include the average from each TV show and the average from the PPV TWICE so that bonus points can be tacked on for star power or whatever else we may decide deserves bonus points. Maybe there can be a bonus for 'Show of the Week'?
If the draw doesn't go your way BizarroKing, you can be a judge.

I'll take applications up until midnight tonight. I really want to get the ball rolling on this.
All right well I am just confirming my interest in being a booker... have a good 4th everyone!
I'll try as a booker.

Although I wouldn't mind being a booker, I'm happy to take a backseat/judge role, etc this time around to let others get in on the action.
You're in the drawing, XL. YOU COULD BE A PIONEER!
that post of "3 bookers" was in response to someone asking how many bookers there were at the point. there seems to be a high interest in this so 5+ may not be a terrible idea.
and yes i want to be a judge. i like the idea of bonuses tho i dont know how they would work. as far as scoring i think possibly each judge scores each show on a scale on 1 - 10 tally all judges votes up whom ever has the highest score is in the lead. ppv is the finish line. |
I will judge this.
i definitly like bonus points for best of the week..and back to the actual scoring itself...what if, k say you 5 bookers for example. have it where each judge ranks them 1-5 and then those figures are tallied...justa thought.
I'd love to give this a whirl...completely cool if I'm on the reserve list tho, as I'd imagine my jobber-ness and late entry will kinda hinder my chances. Lemme know.
I'll judge. With my eyes. Watching and judging.
But seriously I'd judge. |

Pretty sure I'm going to just leave it at 5 bookers for season one. If people like it, maybe we'll add more for season two. |
Do we get hired in a real wrestling promotion if we win?
Yes. That is the grand prize.
Hell Yeah!!
Quote:
but thats just one of a 1,000 ways you could do this. |
Ohhh, yeah, I like that. :y:
I think ten will be a good number of judges for season one.
What about if we have a limited amount of rosters/promotions created and have those posters hire other posters as bookers, writers, etc?
Like teams? I guess that would be OK.
I would like to judge or book. Whichever you can fit me in as or think I'd be best suited for
I'll mark you down to possibly book, and if you don't get selected, you'll judge. Cool?

Cool

I would like to be a booker :shifty:
I can't wait to see how this works out. :)
how many bookers are you gonna have?

If it works out well, maybe we'll go ten for season two and include ROH (which I decided I'm not going to for the inaugural season).
And writers?
I don't feel there should be any rules AGAINST getting help, as long as people think that's 'fair'. Remember, the long term goal is to do a 'best of the best' eventually.

There's no $ limit right?

You mean for hiring workers? No. If your draft picks are available when it's your turn, then they're all yours.

When will this whole thing start?
