Rank a Wrestler #10 - Shawn Michaels

I'm giving him a 10, tremendous in all aspects. Been in very high profile matches and delivers. Can't really think of anything else to say. One of, if not the best ever.

Rankings
#1 Kurt Angle - 9.53
#2 Bret Hart - 9.05
#3 Owen Hart - 8.35
#4 HHH - 7.89
#5 DDP - 7.69
#6 Kane - 7.33
#7 Rey Mysterio - 6.59
#8 MVP* - 5.95

Also, feel free to comment on your like/dislike of my new user name.

Snowden 07-12-2010 03:50 AM

10, easily. Can't think of a damn thing that he wasn't fantastic at.

Juan 07-12-2010 03:54 AM

Bret and Shawn are probably the only 10's I'll be giving out.

CSL 07-12-2010 03:57 AM

The only 10 I'll be giving. The single greatest performer in the history of professional wrestling. Could get something passable out of a wardrobe.

10 A class of his own. Been a favorite since I was a kid.

Dave Youell 07-12-2010 03:59 AM

You blew your load too quick with this, no one is beating Shawn

Favre4Ever 07-12-2010 04:14 AM

I dunno what to say that hasn't already been said. He's one of the greatest.

It's so hard to rank these guys because there are so many great ones. I think of Michaels the way I would think about someone else I idolize- Brett Favre. Sure, neither of them had a whole lot of Championships, but the body of work they developed is unmatchable. While other main eventers like Edge and Rey Mysterio were enjoying transitional championship reigns, HBK was putting on the some of the greatest matches the industry will ever see.

Tazz Dan 07-12-2010 04:29 AM

Obviously DaBrasko isn't a fan.

MoFo 07-12-2010 04:43 AM

Angle and HBK are the GOAT

Rammsteinmad 07-12-2010 05:22 AM

Whilst I wouldn't rank him higher than Benoit, Jericho or Angle, how can HBK get anything less than 10?

Favre4Ever 07-12-2010 05:23 AM

I'm definitely interested in how the rankings will look after another 20 wrestlers are on the board, and if MVP is still in 8th place I will throw my computer out my car window.

Favre4Ever 07-12-2010 05:42 AM

explain yourself, Guru Dave.

8. One of, if not THE best wrestler of all time. Nothing special on the mic, but not terrible either.

Kane Knight 07-12-2010 07:11 AM

10. One of the few I would ever give a fucking ten to, too.

Tazz Dan 07-12-2010 07:17 AM

If Kane Knight gives a 10 can I change my vote to a 15?

Jimmy Cones 07-12-2010 08:00 AM

Yeah, whenever you get mod-ship you can edit it yourself.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-12-2010 08:03 AM

10. Probably the greatest of all time. Definitely the greatest performer/showman of all time.

9

I stand by my opinion that only Hogan and Flair deserve a 10.

Jimmy Cones 07-12-2010 10:18 AM

All votes will count

You can bully them for their votes and give them the attention they might be wanting if you want. Then again they might not want attention, but instead to have a TNA wrestler on top.

Volare 07-12-2010 10:27 AM

10. If you don't vote 10 you better have a good explaination or get ready for a kick to the nuts.

Madness42 07-12-2010 11:09 AM

10. If I really need to explain why, why are you here?

Jimmy Cones 07-12-2010 11:50 AM

I'm trying to figure out how to use standard deviations to get a more accurate average for the wrestlers. So far my attempts have been fruitless because I don't remember much about them and I don't know much about open office.

You would have to take all the wrestler's scores and find the mean score. I believe standard deviation is simply the difference between the scores that are in the different parts of the distribution curve, so it would have no real relevance in this case as it is a predetermined amount. In other words, how many points are required to go from the 50th percentile into the next? This is the same way norm-reference test scores are figured.

Steveviscious89 07-12-2010 12:10 PM

I give him a 9 because yes he is one of the best, but only game changing names deserve the ten; Hogan, Rock, Austin...etc. That's just how I think it should be scored. You can't base the scoring entirely on ring ability when the profession is sports entertainment.

Love the way he's sellin' & slightly poking fun at Hogan here... If it wasn't for his oversell, this match would = BORING...

Swiss Ultimate 07-12-2010 01:10 PM

Wow at those 1 votes. If Bret Hart can forgive the Heartbreak Kid, why can't you?

High 9 even he has his flaws.

Wikipedia. It solves everything.

Michaels isn't about just in-ring ability. Granted, that's a lot of it, but it's certainly not all of it. Besides, if you're going with "Game changing," DX is one of the biggest names of the attitude era.

Haze 07-12-2010 01:24 PM

Giving this man anything less than a 10 is a travesty.

BizarroKing 07-12-2010 01:39 PM

A 9. I can't really explain why.

bigslimjj 07-12-2010 04:18 PM

10. the best in ring performer ever.

Zen v.W.o. 07-12-2010 04:23 PM

Mooияakeя™ 07-12-2010 05:23 PM

Was excellent in the Rockers. Only every now and then do Tag Team members break out and be fucking huge, like solid Tag Team members. The Rockers were awesome for their time back when there were loads of tag teams that were actually teams for years. These guys held their own. When his push came and he started taking it, he delivered it with a moment etched in "old dudes" memories. I still remember think "OMG! Shawn hit Marty! lol and the glass smashed!".

Then coming from being the quintessential "the guys wanna be me and the girls wanna be with me" heel, to main event push, the kliq, that screwjob, dX to epic matches right up until his retirement.

The showstopper, the icon, the king of the ladder match... and even the fucking entrance against Bret in the Iron Man match... things he did were sometimes trailblazing, and sometimes just showed people hows it's meant to be done.

Fucking 10 all day. If Shawn Michaels ain't a 10. Seriously, who is? You can't just have one 10 out of 10 wrestler. There's been many greats, and no man walks alone. Flair, Hart, Michaels, Angle, Edge, Rock, HHH and many others that I may not agree with.

I take it rank a wrestler ignores what he has done for the industry and is exactly that. ranking him as a wrestler. Well I have seen many a match, like I said up until he retired that were fucking awesome. Even more so considering the fucking crock of shit we get fed weekly and monthly that sometimes we have to pay for on PPV over here. Fuck sake, he even made Cena look good when RAW was in the UK not so long back. So even based on wrasslin' alone, he's a 10.

jcmoorehead 07-12-2010 05:39 PM

10, probably the first wrestler I saw and actually liked aside from the Undertaker. I can't really say anything that others haven't already said but he has it all, sure he had his egotistical moments but he overcame it and continued to put on amazing matches.

The Pope 07-12-2010 06:31 PM

I wish there was more Angle vs Michaels matches.

shadowfoxrz 07-12-2010 06:54 PM

10 The best gifted pure talent to ever grace the squared circle. The true Showstopper in every sense of the nickname. When that music hit everyone in that building and watching on TV knew they were in for something special each and every night he went out there. He kept giving us shows unlike we have ever seen before....why? because he could and he did. Okay that last part was cheesy but it worked. :) Go HBK

Can you imagine the runs they could've had against each other had Angle not left WWE?? Talk about your dream rivalries...

Yeah, and now that I just drank a Dunkin' Donuts Coolatta, I think the only one here who'll have the runs is ME. I gave HBK a 10, though, because he's one of the greatest athletes and charismatic performers in the history of the industry.

Majunior 07-12-2010 10:19 PM

I gave him an 8. I never much cared for him, but what he has contributed cannot be denied.

I'm just bittered on the decades worth of "HBK gets his arse kicked all match then kips up, hits SCM, and it's over" formula matches.
Then again, Wrestlemania X's ladder match with Hall is a fond childhood memory, and from time to time he shows he is certainly capable of pulling out amazing moments.

However, as someone else said, there are people I wouldn't rate him higher than. Angle, Benoit, Bret, Owen, and Jericho all come to mind.

CSL 07-14-2010 04:26 PM

Are you actually going to count the 5 1 votes and the 3 vote in the overall percentage?

Jimmy Cones 07-15-2010 07:24 AM

Unfortunately yes, but I may throw up a second set of statistics called the "no low ball ranks"

CSL 07-17-2010 09:17 PM

Why unfortunately? It's your thread, do what you want. The 1 votes are just 'hilarious' trolling basically.

Jimmy Cones 07-18-2010 02:28 AM

Yes, I understand that. But I think a true pure average needs to exist. I have already set up a spread sheet that will both weed out the poor votes and also get a pure average. All I have to do is plug in the numbers to get both sets of rankings. I'm still trying to come up with a name for it though.

CSL 07-18-2010 02:45 AM

Jimmy Cones' True Pure Average Rank a Wrestler Rankings Spreadsheet.

Rolls off the tongue.
