TNA Wrestling officials are trying to put together a match between Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn for next month's Hard Justice pay-per-view, which would renew one of the most memorable rivalries in the history of ECW.

I think this match would still be as great as the ones they've had even though they are now old. Jerry Still has great matches in RoH, and RVD can still move around in the ring.

If Lynn still has it, then I'm all for this. The RVD-Lynn matches are one of the few things I liked about ECW.

I think this would bring legit to the table if it was a One Time and One Time only thing... I hate that they keep re-hashing old shit, especially the ECW angle... But the matches between these two were legendary...

I'm on the fence. On one hand, I'd rather see RVD vs. Lynn than RVD vs. Abyss. I mean, we've got be honest -- it'll be one of those matches that we are seeing. Also, the whole ECW theme at least helps Hard Justice stand out. Especially if they don't go exclusively ECW with it, and allow Jeff Hardy and Samoa Joe to have a match, and that sort of thing.

I say go with RVD vs. Lynn. Maybe even keep Lynn around for a few months afterwards, to help put over some X-Division guys.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tracy Smothers given a job by someone in just a token sort of role. Give the guy some money to keep him from hurting himself. Even if he just had this Chuck Norris like "don't fuck with him" vibe about him. Bring in Little Guido, who I love insanely, and have Smothers as his non-wrestling buddy/coach. Guido in the X-Division is something I would love. I like the concept of a little guy with a big man complex who can kick as a lot of ass just because of how skilled he is.

If TNA is looking for ECW guys who can still work, get in touch with Super Crazy and Nova. I'm sure neither is what they used to be, but Nova was never a guy who needed to fly. Even as Simon Dean, he did little things that just worked and made him so fun to watch. If only he wasn't such a comedy character and was allowed to be something more.

I agree. There were very few things I liked about ECW. RVD-Lynn was one, Taz's reign as ECW champion, Awesome vs. Tanaka matches, Raven-Dreamer/Sandman feuds and not much else. Alot of the roster like New Jack, Balls Mahoney, Axl/Ian Rotten never appealed to me. I did like Lance Storm/Justin Credible as the Impact Players and I never liked Shane Douglas or Sabu to be honest. I just feel every match I see of Sabu he always manages to mess up in the match at least twice.

I thought that RVD was defending against Abyss too in some type of Full Metal Mayhem with "Janice" hanging above the ring, at least that's what I got from Impact. RVD-Lynn will be good but not as good as there 1999 series.

It's been over a decade since these matches; I dunno if they could pull it off.

This would probably be one of the better matches TNA could have. I would hope they change the feud a little bit instead saying "Here's Jerry Lynn, now you guys are going to wrestle 10 matches for RVD's title." It will probably just be that though.

It may have been their second time there (I think they did do two), but they weren't ECW shows. They were just TNA shows with a hardcore theme and a few ECW talents sprinkled in.

The Motor City Machine Guns have been given quite a bit of air-time lately. They are currently involved in a feud against Beer Money over the TNA World Tag Team Titles (which Sabin & Shelley are holding for the first times in their careers).

Initial plans for TNA Hard Justice called for the event to be headlined by a TNA vs. "ECW" bout. Officials have since decided to make the event an "all-ECW" show similar to WWE's One Night Stand in 2005.

Wrestlers from the original ECW are being contacted and major TNA stars such as AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Ric Flair are not currently not scheduled to appear on the show.

TNA Hard Justice is largely being put together by Tommy Dreamer, who has been contacting numerous former ECW talents alongside Terry Taylor.

The current planned name for the ECW faction in TNA is 'The Riot Makers'. Of course, that can always change.

The ECW alumni really need to let go. I feel like it's a bunch of washed up high school football stars who still put on the letterman jacket and wish they were 16 again. Feel like a dick saying it because I think they're great, but it's getting uncomfortable.
The whole "getting the band back together" thing is becoming sad.

What does the ECW PPV even do for TNA?

Why is TNA even doing this? I know for a fact that Heyman would never want this, and I wouldn't be surprised if this were to push Heyman away.

TNA needs to build up their own fucking brand. I've been saying this for years, and they just don't do it. It's all about the past. It's all about other promotions. It's all about trying to beat WWE.

They won't have Tajiri or Super Crazy, for the record. Two of the better performers available won't be on the show.

The 8/8 TNA Hard Justice PPV became an ECW-themed PPV at last Monday's Impact taping. I was told the company had one direction planned for their angle involving former ECW talents and Dreamer pitched a newer idea and they went with that instead. TNA President Dixie Carter has signed off on Dreamer running the show and it will basically be a one-off ECW show. A lot of people have been pretty impressed with how much trust Dreamer has already been given by management. Dreamer has been contacting talent regarding their availability with Terry Taylor handling the financial end of things.

The PPV will apparently end up with a new title as well. TNA sent a new commercial to their PPV partners several days ago dubbing the 8/8 PPV "Hardcore Justice: One Last Stand." While I have not seen the spot, I am told that the commercial features a brief "ECW" chant. The company will have to be very careful about how they use the ECW letters in regard to the PPV.

Paul Heyman has nothing to do with this angle, so far. My belief is that Heyman wouldn't have gone with this direction, because what does it do to grow the TNA letters and identity, which has been one of his primary criticisms of the company. I am told that the angle is not a sign that negotiations have ended and the two sides are still talking. I am also told this reunion is NOT the big surprise Dixie Carter has been talking about in regard to changes within the company, either. This basically came together very fast over several days last week as a new independent idea for the PPV.

Talent we have confirmed that have been contacted to work and are expected to appear are Jerry Lynn, Sandman, Sabu, Spike Dudley, The FBI, Axl Rotten, Balls Mahoney and Swinger. That said, until contracts are signed, no one is 100% set in stone. Those who were booked were asked to keep their involvement quiet. The hope is to have TNA champion Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn headlining the PPV, but that is not signed and sealed yet. I am told there are multiple plans for the top matches on the show based on what talents will be available. The plan is to announce two or three matches ahead of time and leave the rest of the card as a surprise, since the original company rarely advertised matches for their events.

There's been an interesting response from former ECW talents. Some were said to have gotten choked up and excited for the show based on a promo cut by Tommy Dreamer that will air on Thursday's Impact. Others have taken a "we've been down this road before" tact and see it as just another show. Outside talents who were contacted were said to have responded in one of two ways. Some were said to be extremely thankful for the chance and excited at seeing the old locker room again. Others were trying to pull a money grab and get as much as they could for the appearance. One story making the rounds in Nashville that got a lot of laughs was a talent who has been off television forever playing hardball and refusing to come in unless he was granted a multi-year contract by TNA.

A source close to Shane Douglas has intimated that Douglas was contacted for the event, but has not agreed to terms. I heard a few days ago that Douglas was pitching the idea of wrestling Ric Flair on the show, but I don't see that as happening. That issue has been long since gone and the two did a program in WCW previously. Plus, I don't see that as working on what is supposed to be an "ECW" themed show.

Yoshihiro Tajiri and Super Crazy are booked for Japanese dates on 8/8, so they are absolutely not available for the PPV. Tajiri is working for New Japan that week while Crazy is booked for All Japan Pro Wrestling on a tour that ends on 8/8. I don't expect we'll see Masato Tanaka either as it's likely too close to the show to get a working visa for him to appear.

Talents who had independent bookings that weekend will be flown in on Sunday morning of the PPV while others will be doing a Saturday meet and greet with fans the night before the PPV at the NASCAR restaurant at Universal Citiwalk.

The company is taking a similar stance to the show that WWE did with the first ECW PPV in that they are trying to book everyone they can to help give it an authentic feel, from the wrestlers to the managers to even referees. I would hope someone will reach out to ECW Founder Tod Gordon, as it was criminal he wasn't asked to become involved in the first WWE ECW PPV and was never mentioned beyond a thank you from Paul Heyman. There's talk of paying homage to ECW talents who won't be at the PPV on the show itself as well.

Reports of a Sandman & Dreamer & New Jack vs. Rhino & Richards & Raven tag are without merit.

While this PPV is the only plans to do something with an "ECW" theme, I am told that there could be additional appearances for some of the talents coming out of it, with them being integrated into TNA storylines. However, nothing is 100% set in stone.

For fans who have asked about attending the PPV, as I have noted previously, the only way to 100% guarantee entry to the PPV is to buy a weekend VIP Package from www.shoptna.com, which also includes a ton of other events and freebies. Between TNA's VIP line, the line of Universal Studios theme park attendees and a general public line outside the park, TNA routinely turns away 100-200 fans from their PPV tapings. Given the amount of interest this PPV has garnered from out of town fans, I expect that number of fans to increase, so if you are dying to go, go for the VIP ticket.

So lemme get this straight...they're going to hold a PPV, that instead of takes advantage of the ECW name by showcasing their own talent alongside the ECW alumni (and possibly pulling in more viewers due to association/the 'shit, this is kinda cool factor), just produce three hours of a PPV, half with guys who probably won't be there three months from now.

Why wouldn't you have RVD drop the title due to ECW (Jerry Lynn) interference, have them go at it, and do a short invasion properly, with the title on the line against ECW?

Whatever...TNA has a lot of potential, but its silly moves like this that won't let them get off the ground.

You're probably thinking about those Hardcore Homecoming shows. Shane Douglas ran those.
