The Miz Appreciation Thread (may contain spoilers)
I'll try to fill in this part with crap cos I forgot how the auto preview works when hovering over a link in the thread list...
So do you feel that arguably the most improved all-round wrestler of recent times will be the first to lose his MITB shot?? I personally feel it's perfect for his charactir after they missed the ball on the most obvious feud for him and adding to his "I think I'm in with the big boys" arrogant heel persona. But aside from that, let this be a dedication to all good things The Miz has done since he was the Janetty of the team with Morrison, with the roles now seemingly reversed. |
Not necessarily, I think he will keep it around for a while and cash it in at a great time (Say for instance, at Survivor Series 2010 when Team Cena beat Team Nexus in a 7 on 7 main event or maybe after the main event at WWE:TLC)
|
I don't want him to lose the cash-in, but I can see it happening.
|
Oh I agree he'll keep it for a while, he'll brag about it like a true heel.

It's about time he is taken more seriously but I'm sure he'll soon lose the US title to the likes of either his former partner in Morrison or the up and comer in Bourne. Even by the off chance he loses when he goes to cash it in he will become WWE Champion sooner or later I have no doubt about in my mind. I'm expecting him to unlike Kane to carry it around for a long while and perhaps cash it in once this whole Nexus thing has blown over.
|
If The Miz cashes it in opportunistically, he should win. This would paint The Miz in the mold of heels like Edge and CM Punk. If the WWE wants him to be a heel of that colour, then he should cash in successfully like that -- preferably against someone people give a damn about. John Cena or Triple H would be the best options.
Otherwise, I personally would have The Miz announce his title shot ahead of time. They can chalk it up to arrogance, or him wanting to prove himself, or whatever -- but The Miz goes in as confirmed challenger, and then loses that match (the only way I can stomach the MITB winner losing), and it is used to give his character more gravity. But I'm not sure if I can trust the WWE to do that. The Miz came off amazing at Money in the Bank. Snatching victory from the jaws of Randy Orton so decisively, and then cutting a promo about how we are all in his moment, and he's proven us all wrong? It reminded me of Stone Cold Steve Austin's promo after winning the 1996 King of the Ring, for some reason. If the WWE want to turn him into a project, and not something they rush to glory, then I'd have him lose, but only if he announces his title shot well before his match. |
It's silly to act like The Miz will have some sort of stigma if he's the "first person not to win the belt with the MITB case". Winning that match and having that case alone will put him in the main event scene for the first time since that main event triple threat a few years back. I think thats quite an accomplishment for a former Real World contestant.
That being said, WWE won't waste this. |
I don't know when he'll cash it in or what will happen when he does, but I think the longer they wait the better.
Not that I don't think The Miz is ready by the standards of past champions and winners, but I'd like to see him develop more. They have an oppurtunity here to milk it like they did with Edge, or even how they seem to have intended to do with Kennedy before he got hurt. Having The Miz save it for Wrestlemania would be very exciting. |

I don't think that is the WWE's plan, though. I just think Money in the Bank is something that should be cashed in successfully. That's why the characters invest so much in it. It's a guaranteed run with a World Title, because it's on your terms. If you can't win the big one on your terms, then how are you meant to win it otherwise? If you want to tease a guy in a main event role and lose, then that is what the actual Ladder Match is for. Putting over one of the other guys who is ready to carry the big belt. John Morrison, for example, from an in-ring perspective is ready. If they aren't going to pull the trigger with The Miz, why cut off the balls of Morrison? Anyway, I can't help it. Here are my favourite things about The Miz winning Money in the Bank: * He won it in a big match. He beat three World Champions to win the briefcase. Not only that, but it actually looked like Orton was about to win when The Miz just brutally dumped him off the ladder and said "No way, it's mine." And he got it. Jericho and Edge added so much by just being stars in the match, and Orton actually managed to give The Miz a rub, I believe, by looking shit-scared as he realised The Miz was about to fuck him off. * The Miz looked genuinely emotional when he won the match. Love him or hate him, I don't think anyone can argue that it really seemed like winning Money in the Bank was a legitimate big deal to The Miz. He's a guy that really is out to prove he can do this, and I think a lot of the stuff he says in promos about proving everyone wrong comes from a very real place. Mike Mizanin is someone who seems like he truly appreciates just a big win like Money in the Bank, let alone being WWE Champion. That is a great thing to see. It also puts over the concept of the actual match itself. So many guys seem to win it and it's just like "Oh, so that guy won." The Miz made it seem like all his hard work had finally paid off. * His promo after the match. We don't really get to hear guys talk after such a war. If a guy is meant to cut a post-match promo, they'll usually only work a short match or something. I really think this shows the faith the WWE has in the guy, and if it was also partially a test, I think The Miz passed with flying colours. To cut a promo like that after falling off ladders and shit? That man is awesome. It also gave a more memorable ending to the match. It wasn't that the guy just won. He won, and then talked about it. It wasn't like they randomly selected a guy out of a hat. This match was The Miz's to win. That's also indicative to me that the WWE has huge plans for the guy. |
You guys have no idea how badly I wanted him to win in this Battle Royale (@ about 3:40) but since Orton was champ it only made sense still though it could have at least been booked it so at least in a way so Cena would have been screwed out of it.

I am stoked.

If you think about it, the year and a half long slow build that the WWE has done with the Miz has been some of the best and most well thought out writing they've done in quite some time.
He's cocky and arrogant, goading an injured Cena until he finally gets a match...and gets the shit kicked out of him. After a couple more matches, it goes so far that he loses again and gets FIRED...only to cheat his way back in as a masked wrestler. He comes back with a chip on his shoulder and a mean streak, and his brash attitude belies what is actually a very skilled competitor. He's held the United States title for the better part of a year now, taking on most all comers. He's held the Unified Tag Team Titles, beating DX...twice in the process. And now he's taken it to a whole new level, taking out R-Truth and besting three former world champions as he, literally and figuratively, claws his way ever closer to the top of the WWE. Just listen to this promo he cut a couple of months ago... Miz has taken a brilliant push and ran with it full steam ahead. Can't wait for him to cash in. |
The Miz Appreciation Thread
Pretty self explanatory.
Ever since the shit with Cena & leaving Morrison, he's gotten SO much better, but I'm sure you all agree with me. He's only going to get better. GO |
|
He's the man, the US Champ, the future WWE Champ, and he gets to fuck Maryse every night. What more do you need?
|
The Miz is the Future of the WWE
So when are they going to turn him face so that the entire internet can start hating him in unison and decrying how, "I used to love the evil Miz gimmick but, he's so boring as a superman baby-face!"
Seriously though, I don't care. He deserves his fame and fortune. Hope he goes far. |
OK, I think he's the fucking shit. But these threads are cropping up like a case of fucking chlamydia through the forums.
|
They don't bother me. The Miz is awesome.

We need to talk about the fact that the Miz is deserving of his major push in a thread specifically designed for that sort of thing. I don't want to talk about the Miz in a thread titled "Hogan never wrestling again?" |
You posted this thread like the same time I posted my Miz thread.
Damn it. |
All positive Miz threads are welcome here at TPWW.net. I really liked his post-match celebration last night.

You know, a few years ago on this very forum Cena was getting this kind of reaction. |
I felt a merge was in order. Carry on.
|
Cena who?
|
ABT, can you merge my original one in then?

...I think The Miz has the most potential to be the "next Shawn Michaels", to be honest...
|
This is one of his best promos ever:

Miz and JBL had some real heat. |
Back then I would have considered him the next Red Rooster lol bcaw speaking of which how do you guys like my new avatar can I get an OORAH?!?

In the meantime, either Miz will be featured to go against either Bourne or Orton. He might drop the US title to either Bourne, a returning R-Truth, or hold onto it as the cherry on top of the push if/when he becomes WWE champion |
His old theme was kind of generic sounding, but I loved it.
|
I kinda miss his chick-magnet thing.
|
Quote:
Part of me also likes his old attire/shorts more than the current. Glad he lost the hats and bandannas though. |
Gotta admit, Angry Miz is one of the funniest fucking things on TV.
|
His mic work in the last year has been very impressive. Just like McDonald's, I'm loving it. Does anyone else see some similarities between his mic work and The Rock's early promos?
|
Different type of skill set. They're both charismatic (though I'll take Rock over...well, most anyone), but Miz's cadence is different IMO.
|
Quote:
-edit- Well no, I wouldn't wish that on the Miz or anyone else. |
Ok,
Now, I was a big supporter of Miz, even before MizMo, but. Can anyone tell me a truley decent match he's had? I don't deney he's a very strong character, which is half the battle and he's by no means bad in the ring, I just don't think he's main event standard currently. With 5 years of being on TV he hasn't really improved all that much IMO. |

To be honest, I hated Miz when he debuted. Nothing remarkable about him, and I wanted to stab myself in the ears with a pencil whenever he started talking, doing the Diva contests.
He's improved so much, in every way. Sure, he's improved some areas more than others, but he's made commendable improvement in every area. Remarkable, really. As for him being the next HBK... I would say he looks like he could be the next Jericho -- which, in my book, is higher praise than being the next HBK. |
Quote:
Look, I like the guy, really think he has loads of potential, but I've yet to be impressed with his in ring ability, it's solid, but not to the point where I think he should be at the next stage. |
I think his in-ring ability is above-average and constantly improving. His character alone makes him legit in my eyes.

I can honestly say that from day one, I thought The Miz could go places.
I'm glad to see others thought so too. |
Quote:
It's not about being a sound technical wrestler. It's about having the ability to make me care about what's happening in the match. Miz just doesn't do that for me. Benoit was a sound technical wrestler, but generally I didn't care about his matches because of his lack of 'it' factor and charisma, you need to have both. Miz has one half but currently, not the other. |
XCaliber, Flair is probably the best hand in the ring of all time. Austin was hired to the WWE as a worker alone.

People would care about The Miz's matches BASED on his personality. People either seem to really love him or really hate him. Either way, he generates a response, and it translates into his matches. I definitely think he could main event.
|
Unlike a lot of heels going around, you can tell that the fans are desperate to like him and cheer him.
I think he has the potential to be at the VERY top of the business. |
dude what
The Miz has the potential to be the next x-pac he gets decent heat, but that shit'll get tired really quick, honestly, i dont know what theyre thinking. send him to the job squad, maybe he can be mark henry's bitch |
sorry to disappoint all you miz wankers by the way, but he'll clearly be the first person to lose when he cashes in his MITB, and the story will be at his expense, and embarassing
|
in case anyone has forgotten, Rock Bottom is a retard
|
I didn't forget.
|
Rock Bottom has rendered his verdict. SORRY GUYS.

He's gotten fairly competent in the ring and continue to impress. But he's a smaller guy so he needs to be at least five times as good as a John Cena or a Batista to believably be in the world title hunt. That's just the way these things work.
