Figured Hero has been doing this for awhile and I could take the reins from him so to speak. Being commish would be nothing besides setting the league up.

The last few years we have had some people abandon the teams leading to some rather underwhelming weeks in Head to Head.

So I would very much appreciate that if anyone signs up, they do so with the intention of playing all season.

People who were active in it last year, I am going to give priority to first.

So I wont be setting up an alternate league, I would rather just stick to this one then have two. As I dont see us having enough to fill one let alone two. Though we seem to have 8 people interested at the moment. So it seems that we only need 4 more.

FA - why don't you set up a roto league - use it as a test bed for different settings and scoring systems? For example in the baseball we used the auction draft in the roto league and found that it worked really well and made the draft very interesting and much more involved for everyone.

Sad part is I actually do not have any real fantasy teams this year, but due to Moonax hating me, I doubt I can be a part of this

If hockey has the bid process, I'm def. going to use that system over the tradsitional. I love the auction.

IMO, I think a one month ban should be placed on posters who dont update thier rosters without prior reason given (such as vacation, etc)

Hero - it might be worth drawing up some kind of plan to take over inactive teams - ie if they go a month without updating.

And bannings, huge fan of severe bannings.

Thing is moonax, as far as I remember you can't change the owner midaeason.

HOWEVER we could get Hero to update rosters that are abandoned just to make it somewhat competitve should some fucker abandon his team.

It's a tough call. If someone is inactive and you go up against them for an easy win, then I as commish take over the team and make changes, it is not 'fair' to the next person that plays them.
However I do bel;ieve this year, that is what I will do, I will edit the rosters of inactive managers.

Hero - the problem is that inactive team does not always equal an easy win - a lot depends on the schedule, especially with things like +/- and goal tending stats (GAA, Save %) - where a good couple of performances from that team can mean you get skanked.

Alternatively, with teams not updating, if they don't hit the min games stat for goaltending (because of the schedule, or because they've benched all their goalies) then the team playing them gets effectively free points.

My point is that playing an inactive team is not the same for everyone because of the way schedules operate.

I would much prefer to see teams taken over after say a month of inactivity, to the point on putting players on the DL and rotating the team so that there is always a full line up being put out, than play inactive teams.

At very least, make sure the team gets goalie starts.

I mean all you have to do is win ONE skater category if the inactive team doesnt get 3 starts and you minimum have a 5-0-0 record.

Either way, how does it work? Autopick? Draft?

So what type of team is it? Is it basically like a pool and what are the rules? I'd be in if I don't have to work too much but if I have to be dropping players and picking up new players every day I'd give it up.

It has been a draft. I am hoping that this year hockey will have the option like baseball had this year to have an auction draft.
That means highest bidder gets the player. You are not blessed by getting the #1, 2, 3 spots out of luck. You could buy all the top players if you wanted with auction draft. (just means your team would fall off dramatically after that, because you'd be broke)

The problem is the AI is out of whack.

You can start a bid for someone at $1 and then the AI will raise it to $35 or some equally stupid figure.

13 teams so far. Pretty good going.

I did another round of auction with all people, it was really good. No crazy bids.

Yeah, the AI is a pain in the arse. Once I've finished filling in a job app, gonna do some practicing.

Also, Hero is there any chance you could move the time on the draft to 2 hours later, if by some chance my work are assholes and schedule me, Ill be home around 725pm our time so 8pm AST would be perfect for me as long as it isnt an inconvenience to anyone else.

And no I am not changing the draft time. Every year there is people that ask this, in the past when I have it just lead to other people missing the draft because they don't make the new time. If you have to auto bid, make sure you set stuff up before the draft.
