Battlefield 3
Ok, so it's not out for like a year, but get the MoH: LE edition and you get access to the beta toward the end of the year.
But either way, who is getting and I don't care what anyone says it's still gonna be awesome. BF2 was moaned about (fact is you can't please anyone), but even 5 years on it still is amazing. Apparently, Dice have said it's modern combat and they're bringing back at least 64 player action. Both awesome (although i did like 2142 also). Also, it will use Frostbite 2. But Dice are worried it won't work on the consoles as it's pushing the boundaries. They say it's not gonna be port and mastered to each platform. Well, I'm getting it. But i think my clan days are over :( |
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fuck yes. Had soooooooooo many maps for bf2. Might have to finaly upgrade the PC, cause console isn't an option far as i'm concerned.
Wishlist:
Betting they're looking to MAG and that's all good. |
Planes to return also. I couldn't fly for fuck, but loved 2nd seat bombing with a good pilot.
Also, I prefer the old ribbons. I felt so much more acheivment getting the pins and ribbons that when I was getting them in BC2 and even 2142. |
Been playing BF2 again in anticipation. Comp probably won't be able to handle 3, sadly.
Fignuts, u play BC2? (ON PC this is).
Nope. Dunno if my comp could handle it, and I like battlefield 2 better anyway.
Just finally got all my achievements for 2 last night...all except demolition man of course...
That damn achievement is gonna take me forever... |

...Jets... |
Meh, got nothing from that. New jets were in, as they were in battlefield 1 and 2 as well.
But not in the Frostbite games.
64 player multiplayer son.
Don't see the need for them to add prone but I'm guessing it's because of the crying Call of Duty folk so I get it. |
Oh 64 players is PC only. Gay.
Is this new info? From where?! Tell me?!
Gotcha. Guess the babies got their prone back in, whatever. PC players are gonna have some epic battles.
Hope console version doesn't get gutted like B2. |

Debating whether I should beef up my PC or not, and this is a big factor. Battlefield on consoles does not compare to Battlefield on PC.
Bigger matches, and awesome custom content. Would be cool if BF had something like Unreal Tournament 3, where you could put custom created maps on the console version via flash drive. |

Irritating things:
Nothing has been carried over from Special Forces (Tear gas / zip lines) No commander Killcam WILL be in It'll probably be 4 classes again (each class was a big decision in BF2 imo compared) Medals are probably not makinga comeback and it'll be the same as like BC2. Good things: Destructive environments (and this FB 2.0 is meant to mind blowing) Squad sizes should be 6 people again, not 4 Karkand may be coming back as a downloadable 32v32 is baccccckkkkk! Things I'd like to transfer over from BC2: Being able to spawn on member of your squad - most SL do not want to hold back like you would have to in BF2 to attack right. In my ideal world, Bad Company should be for consoles and the vanilla Battlefield for PC. Then we can have our cake and they can eat it. |

Frankly won't believe that til I see a live demo. One of the things I don't mind about Battlefield is that the visuals aren't super-kick-ass because of the scale of what's going on [in multiplayer]. If the game looks like that throughout that would be a leap for the series. Looks sexy.
Hope we get multiplayer details at E3 (the E3 I says will be very fan friendly). |
That could very likely be the PC version kalyx, in which case it will look that good. But not on consoles.
Bah.
I imagine it'll still look respectably sexy on consoles too.
No doubt the vid is of single player. Whatever, they just need to sort the netcode and we'll be good to go.
Gonna get a new computer sorted out to take to uni with me.
Never really been much of a pc gamer, but looking into it, seems much funner and cheaper. |
Netcode was fine for me.
Hitboxes are insanely off in BF2, I have to admit, bar some random crap here and there, BC2 is not actually that bad, hence why I said I hope they sort it. They can defo take a lot from BC2, I'm not totally against it at all, I really like it, just really wanted an updated BF2 I guess. I didn't enjoy commanding so much, but loved that option.

Longer version of the campaign trailer. |
- Studying the vid; yeah, that shit is running real time. I find the animation interesting and would like to see the new animation system on a player's avatar.
- Will be waiting to see if PS3/XB360 could run anything like that video (PC), but in any case muletiplayer will not look like that. But even a gimped version of that engine would look really sweet. - Still, I'm more interested in multiplayer details. Dice shared some philosophy in this month's GI but I wanna see how that translates. |
Current release date is 1/12/12. This date is shit as the game is likely to get a November release this year.
Right, I advise not posting this around as EA DICE will prob remove it (note the title is a throw off and it's a non-shared link to try to avoid the big wigs)
But here goes, some vid of in game shit. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tJAjuNYVB5Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

This looks exactly like every other FPS, dunno why everyone is so juiced about this. Graphics are sick and there are some nice set pieces outside, but don't really see anything to get that psyched over.
Because the multiplayer will be fucking awesome. Fuck the single player. I posted this as a general update.
It looks fun as hell. IDK. Just looking at it, it looks really responsive and a blast. I have enjoyed BF games in the past, but never enough to really play the hell out of them. Something about this one tells me the MP should be enough to take me away from CoD games.
Just imagining doing bombing runs while my squad is danger close as they head toward the objective gives me chills.
they're multiplying, and I'm losing control
Cause the power you're supplying
it's electrifying |

I know it's what EA wants etc as a return, but seriously, I hope many stay with CoD as I predict they will. Whilst having a competitor SHOULD make better games as they want to up their products respectively, I also don't see BF as a replacement for COD. Like when BF2 came out and I was playing Counter Strike Source. They're totally different. The MP will show that. 32v32, air, land and sea vehicles, ground forces... Good times again. Though leaving out Zip lines and Grapple hooks and tear gas from BF2:SF was a fail imo, but meh. |
Seen an ad for it tonight. Goddamn that engine looks amazing, hoping they use it on something I'm actually interested in playing one day.
I'll grab it from a Steam sale one day. |
- Multiplayer details at E3.
- Co-op campaign. - Team Death Match is a dedicated feature now. - Online community hub for stats and such to launch with game. Pretty much like Bungie.net or the upcoming CoD Elite (more like B.net in that it's free for now). |
<iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XtfVU4nagRE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yeah, that looks crazy awesome.
Ok, so aside from Kalyx, who would like to join our squad when this drops on day 1?
I'm not even gonna analyze, that vid speaks for itself. Nuff said.
Might get this.
There's a trailer showing a tank battle from the campaign. My god. Dice managed to take that fake-ass prerendered trailer for PS3's Killzone and pretty much deliver.
The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is that map seems quite urbanised and in close. Hope there's a good balance of settings in maps, I've always liked big wide open maps.
Jets are back.
Yeah but maybe you get to fly them in cramped cities. :shifty:
I do kind of wish I had a decent enough PC to play this on, but I suppose I can settle for the 360 version. I'm just concerned that it coming out so close to MW3 is really going to dent sales. |

Assault Class:
- Merged with Medic. You take lives at the front, and heal them. Makes sense, as medics are needed most where the line is drawn, and trench monkeys draw that line. Engineer: - Still repairs and destroys vehicles. - Has a flash light that blinds enemies (lol wut?). Support: - Where the light machine gun lies, you can set a tripod anywhere and lay 'suppressing fire'. Suppressing Fire blurs enemies vision. Recon: - Nerfed somehow. |
Hmm, wonder if the Support class gets Assault's ammo pack ability now that it doesn't have medkits. Would seem weird for one class to have both.
That sounds likely.
Medic Assault?
"Here's some ammo." "But I need a health kit dumbass." "Well then you're fucked." I can't say I agree with this, but I'll give it a try before I judge. Still don't see what good a flashlight does though. I mean yeah you blind someone close range, but that's if they haven't shot you in the head while you're running towards them with a flashlight like a re-re. |
I'll find a use for it.
Dammit, just realised I'm going on holiday the day before this gets released in the UK, so I miss out on playing it for 2 weeks.
Are you getting it for PC or a console Baird?
PC here... Not that I was asked :)
XB360, of course. With Ermax, Khuntry, my bro, and others. Gonna love getting the band back together.
Quote:
You, Khuntry, your bro, me, Recycled Human, Flapjaxx, and Sephiroth. Beast of a team. |
Team ReqXer will dominate all of you.
I guess this mean I have to get this on 360 also
What were you going to get it for? PS3? I would, but Biff doesn't have a PS3. And my PC sucks too much to be able to enjoy it as much on PC, so I'm just going 360. Still think it is going to be just as fun.
Wasn't going to buy it, I have an early access token on Goozex so I used it for the PS3 version to play with G.
Probly still won't buy it. You'll have to wait til I Goozex it a few months after. |
Or maybe I will get it. I dunno
Honestly haven't been this excited for a shooter in probably 5 or 6 years. It just looks like a blast, and seems really well done. Like they were finally trying to outdo Call of Duty in every way. Think they've been putting out all these gorgeous gameplay videos for a while because they really want people focused on them instead of whatever MW3 puts out. Of course, I could get it and absolutely hate the multi-player or something.. but I have high hopes right now and I will be getting it on launch day probably.
I hope they do the weapon/class items/uh perks i guess? unlocks different in this then in BC2. I've got everything unlocked in BC2 and I am only rank 26 or something and don't see a reason to get to 50 and haven't played it in like 5 months.

Although the latest batch of trailers make me wish I had some obscenely powerful PC to run it on. Gorgeous. |
My 360 should be back up and running by then, so yeah.
Team NutReqXer
We'll be victorious, as long as Miotch doesn't try to play with us.
That guy sucks. |
If they're able to match or beat CoD's aiming mechanics, I'm in. BF2 was just too clunky for me.
Gun fighting in Battlefied is way more satisfying than CoD's bird neck, duck hunt thing it has.
Battlefield is more open and that's why I love it. Plus the fact you can't spawn camp, very well anyways.
I really hope they keep the dog tags for knife kills thing in 3. My BC2 knife kills are sitting at almost 2,000. I just love to knife unsuspecting recon guys who think they are safe by hiding. Ghillie suit ain't got shit on me son! |
And spotting is one of the greatest things to happen to a FPS. Along with soft auto-aim.
Working with a well oiled squad of friends is something else. Getting best squad medals is something more. I love Battlefield. |
Knife is fail in BC2. Automatic crap. So annoying. Hope it goes back to BF2 style for BF3.
Knife works well for me.
OOOH BABY
Jim Sterling thought I had seen a ghost or something when I ran into him on my way back to the press room at E3. What actually left the look of shock on my face was that I just got hands-on with Battlefield 3's multiplayer. I only got about fifteen minutes of action, but it was enough to blow my mind. You guys. Battlefield 3 is f*cking amazing!
http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/20359...ure3x-620x.jpg Battlefield 3 (PC [previewed], PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) Developer: EA DICE Publisher: Electronic Arts To be released: October 25, 2011 DICE threw us on a slowly expanding map set in downtown Paris in Rush mode. I was on the attackers side and my team had to arm and destroy two key points in each section of the level, the first of which was in a park. All of the outside portions where surrounded by buildings and showed off the dense urban environments DICE is pushing hard. The Frostbite 2 engine is a powerful beast and I don't expect we'll be seeing the many open and blank environments we're used to in past Battlefield games. While I didn't witness this in my playthrough, facade destruction will be a big part of the urban combat. Players can hide on different floors of a building utilizing the many cover opportunities. The cover can be destroyed to expose enemies though and the falling pieces of the building can even kill anyone unlucky enough to be on the streets below. http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/20359...e%203-620x.jpg The lighting system has been improved immensely as well and I got a good example of it in the second portion of the level in the subway system. The lights in the subway tunnel can be shot up so you're completely in the dark and hard to spot. Alternatively, I got to see how the Engineer class utilizes the light attached on his gun to blind other players by shining it right into their eyes. Speaking of classes, each one has gone through a change, some of which was based on feedback right from the community. The biggest change is the fusion between the medic and assault roles. The Combat Medic has the same assault traits, but can now pack medic features such as first aid kits and shock paddles to revive downed players. The Engineer class still can fix and repair vehicles and the sniper class can now hold his breath for a few seconds while trying to take the shot. The counter to that though is that the sniper will sway heavily for a few seconds as he catches his breath. The biggest, and coolest change, in my opinion, is with the Support class. You can now deploy a bipod on the heavy machine gun on various surface for increased stability. Alternatively, players can go prone for better accuracy with any weapon. That's not that cool part. The cool part is that players will now get points for laying down suppressing fire. Shooting at the general direction of an enemy is always key, but now you'll get rewarded with points for it. Plus affected players by the suppressing fire will see their screen dim and shake. Dog tags are getting a little revamp as well and will be customizable with sayings and different designs. The tags appear on a players screen after you killed them to add insult to injury. I played through as the Combat Medic, Support and Engineer class and each one was just awesome. I sadly didn't have time to get into it as the Sniper, probably for the best as I abuse that class anyway. I need to play a lot more than just one simple round to get a real feel for Battlefield 3, but the the shock and awe I experienced was just enough to hold me over until the October release. That reminds me, I should start looking into upgrading my computer. No way am I playing Battlefield 3 on a console. |
Hope most of the cool stuff transfers to console.

Some gamers have already started a boycott and canceling pre-orders of the game due to how EA have separated the DLC based on what was done or not done for the pre-order.
The issue revolves around the Back to Karkand DLC pack which might appears to have been split up into 3 tiers with no pre-order people having to purchase the DLC but only getting the maps, the regular edition only getting the maps for free, while the limited edition gets the maps along with special guns and stuff. EA is refusing to offer the same DLC once the game is available and will actually lock out the special stuff from the DLC to everyone else but gave no reason why. Quote:
unless I'm missing something, people that pre-order get the maps and the 'special' weapons/ammo, those that don't have to buy the DLC separately only they don't get the guns/ammo. Which means that guns/ammo are strictly a bonus for those pre-ordering. Which I don't see why any mong would have a problem with.
unless I'm missing something here like I said
I think it has to do with normally that special stuff ends up being for sale in a DLC or would have a special multi-player list to keep the matches balanced. Those weapons will not be unlockable in any way in the game or for purchase.
EA is basically saying if you don't pay more for the special edition, don't expect any balanced games since the bonus weapons and stuff are supposedly pretty powerful. |
ahh so they come with a (presumably more expensive) special edition and not just pre-orders? Still not much to complain about but that's t'internet for ya
As far as I know, anyone who pre-orders the game gets the limited edition for the $59.99 price. They did the same thing with BC2, so I don't see what the fuss is about. These people just sound like giant crybaby cunts. Fuck em.
Quote:
Still a silly reason to boycott a game IMO.
I don't think anything is a "bad" reason to boycott any game. If you don't agree with the business practices of a company, you shouldn't support that company.
Whining about it to anyone who will listen is pretty stupid though. |
They've just made their PC games exclusive to "Origin" or some bullshit. Pretty much confirmed I won't be buying it as they'll only guarantee that you can re-download it for 1 year and have god-awful prices.
XB360
I'm not paying more for an inferior version. That would be silly.
My silly-ass will be squading with some top gunners. Good luck on your end.
The Physical Warfare pack will be available for everyone as DLC eventually, DICE have announced.
Wonder if that'll please all the people complaining about it. |
