To consider Lashley as a world champ would be the same as saying Mark Henry, Matt Hardy, Chavo, Morrison, and Christian were all World Champs too and as we all know, in the eyes of Vince, being the ECW champ meant dick.

...I don't consider ANY of the wrestlers who won the WWE/ECW Title as Former Champions.

I would say the ECW Championship meant more before that one nameless guy killed himself.

Well the ECW title was called the ECW World title when it was first exhumed from the grave wasn't it? I can't remember for sure...

Anyways, any holder of the ECW title (under the WWE revival) has a better claim to being a "World champion" than any holder of the TNA top strap over the years, maybe even to this day.

I have no idea who Bobby Lashley is because during his time in WWE, I wasn't watching or keeping up with WWE at all.

From what I can remember, Lashley was dating then SD diva Krystal and Hayes was giving her a really hard time or something and she quit and so did he. Can't remember the specifics, but I'll give my friend a ring. He knows.

Why doesn't the TNA title count? It doesn't make sense, he never one the TNA title. Only 5 guys have had the TNA title. (Angle, Joe, Sting, AJ Styles, RVD)

I'd be curious to see if the WWE does. They still refer to Big Show as a "five-time World Champion." This might just be habit from when they were trying to get ECW over, but regardless, they seem to count Big Show's reign as ECW Champion as a World Title reign. Bobby Lashley won it from him, so technically that would make Lashley a World Champion? Vince McMahon doesn't win mid-card titles, either. It's kind of sad that I think one of the best things the ECW Title had going for it in the WWE was that Vince himself held it.

If the WWE brought Lashley back, I do actually think they'd refer to him as a two-time World Champ. I think the belt stopped being a World Title after it was vacated and Benoit was meant to win it. Johnny Nitro was the first "non-World Champion" in the ECW Title's WWE history.

From what I remember, another facet to Lashley leaving - The angle involving Vickie Guererro & Edge was supposed to be Krystal /Edge. Krystal didn't like the idea of doing something like that with a guy with Edgeward's... history, and naturally Bobby wasn't too hot with it either. All secondhand information, but the pieces fit together when you look over the other parts of the angle with Teddy Long having the heart attack @ his wedding & shit. It makes sense that they would have taken it in that direction.
