FuCK OFF THE SEASON IS STILL 3 days away! WAY TO EARLY!

Supreme Olajuwon 09-07-2010 08:51 PM

Bengals play the Patriots on Sunday. Feel like there's a buttload of turmoil in New England right now that may give the Bengals an outside chance of pulling off the upset. Def wouldn't put money on that though.

Moss, Owens, and Chad on the same field. Could be some major kookiness in store.

Droford 09-07-2010 09:02 PM

Im going to be annoyed at having to spell Houshmandzadeh now.

SUPER BOWL OR BUST!

Hate any thursday game unless it's Thanksgiving but I still hate the random one that they choose for the night game, should be just Lions and Cowboys.

RP 09-07-2010 11:38 PM

I'm not sure how anyone could pick against the Colts in the AFC. The Colts actually got alot better then they were last year. Also, i dont buy Joe Flacco at all. I also dont buy Carson Palmer.

I think anybody that knows our business knows that every year is make or break for players and coaches. It’s a production business.'' Jaguars RapidReports

Im not big on them being the favorite to win or even be in the SB. Lofty expectations are usually not met. The schedule they got starts off absolutely BRUTAL (4 road games in first 6 weeks) but they get 4 out the last 6 at home (including the toughest game they have vs the Saints).
Everything Ive seen in the preseason leads me to believe that they are no worse than a 10 win team, and probably at least 12 wins..so they should at least make the playoffs for the 3rd straight year with Harbaugh/Flacco even if its as a wild card again, though I cant see Cincy or Pittsburgh winning more than 10 games.

The biggest issue I have with them getting to the Super Bowl is that one of the big 3 contenders (alongside the Ravens and Patriots) in the AFC is Indy and the Ravens haven't shown an ability to play with the Colts on the same level.

Not even that, they were 7-9 in 07, the last winning season was 9-7 in 06 when they benched Plummer after 7 wins in 11 games. I mean if you look at last season they beat 4 of the best teams in the league. Pretty good for a rookie coach and qb no one wanted.

Team Sheep 09-09-2010 04:40 PM

Still baffles me how you can start 5-0 and end up 8-8. And it happened not once but twice last year :|

I hate Kevin Gilbride. Horrible play caller.

RatedGSuperstar 09-09-2010 05:03 PM

Way way way way too many people picking the Packers to go to the Super Bowl. It's making me uncomfortable.

Of course, everyone's making that pick based on their defense rankings last year when I'm not entirely convinced they can repeat that performance. They played the league's easiest schedule last season, and Al Harris is on the PUP list to start the year, leaving their secondary incredibly thin. The offense is going to be bananas, but that schedule is brutal. As a Packer homer I don't see much more than 10-6. Then again, the NFC is wide open, so maybe that is good enough for a deep playoff run.

McLegend 09-09-2010 05:05 PM

Also because of how well they played in the preseason.

McLegend 09-09-2010 05:26 PM

Also I think the Packers roll the Eagles on Sunday.

Defense played like garbage in the preseason, even by vanilla standards. Granted, there were like 3 or 4 starters that were held out of most of the games, but it definitely showed a lack of depth.

That's part of the reason I hate the idea of Tramon Williams returning punts. They're one nasty hit on a return away from having to give Jarrett Bush or Sam Shields significant playing time. He's a decent return man, I just don't like the risk.

Emperor Smeat 09-09-2010 07:36 PM

ESPN stat for opening game of the NFL has the home team at 6-0 ever since NFL switched to opening game including the defending champion at home in 2004.

Last time a defending champion lost their 1st game at home was in 1999 with Denver.

Just noticed the Saints have both the NFC champion banner and Superbowl champion banner hanging up at the same time. They might even have a division banner up as well.

Shouldn't it be just the Superbowl banner that gets raised and not the minor ones earned since the championship has higher status than the rest for a season.

They wouldn't be the only team to ever do this since Tampa Bay in MLB managed to put up both a division banner and AL Pennant banner up for the same season.

CSL 09-09-2010 11:21 PM

Yeah, looked like they had banners for all 3 up. The Superdome is pretty big I guess.

Chad Ochocinco, as announced by WWE on Thursday, will host "Raw" when it takes place in Cincinnati on September 13.

Oddly enough, this really isn't that surprising, right? In fact, the WWE site says it best : "So what's left for Chad Ochocinco? Gust hosting Raw, of course!"

The WWE site also mentions Chad's iPhone app as well as his cereal, with links no less, so it seems safe to say that there's some sort of synergy at work here. (Finding out that Ochocinco announces something to the crowd about his app wouldn't be that shocking either, honestly; and a half-price download for anyone in the crowd with an iPhone would just be pure genius.)

Either way, the good news is that if you're a wrestling fan who lives in Cincy and somehow hasn't gotten your full quota of Ochocinco before the season starts, there's an event coming up just for you.

I think Nicks will evolve into the more prototypical "playmaker" style of WR. Smith on the other hand is just that dependable, throw it to me on third down type of guy. They're not superstars, but I'd take those two over the majority of other teams one and two WR.

Steelers +2 1/2 (vs Falcons)
Colts - 2 1/2 (@ Texans)
Packers - 3 1/2 (@ Eagles)
49ers - 3 1/2 (@ Seahawks)

What are my odds of winning $300? Not worried one bit about the 49ers and Packers as they should be able to cover pretty easily. Slightly worried about the Colts but I just dont think the Texans are ready yet..still. And the Steelers being a dog at home vs the Falcons is a joke.

more then a little worried about the Pats this year... tough division, and the Pats have no defense.. I mean, 2 players... going to be some shootouts this year, but I'll be surprised to see the pats win any low scoring games.

VonErichLives 09-12-2010 11:45 AM

Pats game... going to a local "boston" bar, which will have the game, since the local game at 1pm will be the Phins since they're away. Which sucks because sometimes I like to just watch the game at home and I'll rarely have the chance to do that this year.

Then after the 1pm game coming home and will have on whatever they televise while cleaning and doing some work.
