Hmmm, I wasn't overly impressed ith DMC 4 if I'm honest, yes it looked amazing. But I still think 3 was the best in the series.

I dub thee correct, Fignuts, and will withhold further comment on the game as a whole until more is revealed. But as far as this new Dante goes, he can suck a cock. You wanna remix Dante for modern fare, fine (I have said ten years is decent 'reboot time' in the movie forum), what you don't do is fuck around with simple shit like white hair, red coat, and a ridiculous personality.
What we have here is literally some super-powered juvenile delinquent. And while I understand about waiting for gameplay, I just don't think NT can make a worthy DMC. They can only hope to develop something better than DMC2. All the others are beyond their scope, this I promise. And as far as this "DmC" going up against Ninja Gaiden 3, Asura's Wrath, Castlevania LoS, (and hopefully) a Bayonetta 2? Bitch please. MvC3 is DMC5. Now with that said, I'm always open to reboots and such, usually while everybody else gets pissy. So I imagine somebody's yukking it up already, this I welcome. I'll take my own advice and be open to new interpretations and see how far they'll take it. |

Interview with Capcom explains why the new Dante looks and might play differently due to Ninja Theory making the game.
Capcom demanded a reboot of the character and the franchise as one of the stipulations for Ninja Theory to make the game. They wanted a "hack-n-slash" game done in a Western flavor unlike the Eastern style of the DMC series. Quote:

Series trivia:
- Kamiya noted that his successor on the franchise, Itsuno (DMC3, DMC4) is mistakenly associated with DMC2. Most of the game was made under another director and Itsuno came late in development to salvage the game (it was much worse). - Kamiya gave Itsuno advice during DMC3 development. - Kamiya isn't fond of what Ninja Theory has done so far after seeing the trailer for DmC. |

Platinum Games announces that they are willing to salvage or at least work on the reboot attempt of DMC 5 if Capcom decides on changing studios or completely restart the entire project

Character DLC is fairly common in general gaming. This game looks shit but the Virgil DLC I'm okay with.

Few people over other places are still blaming the 30fps for it not feeling right. I'll try the PC version for 60fps before I wait for a bargain bin, but I can't see it making that much difference.

The 60fps combat engine pretty much makes DMC what it is. People are right to be troubled by Ninja Theory waving it off because they're simple not qualified for such a thing.

This is a well made action game, perhaps Ninja Theory's best work. The shiftkey combat mechanics have a wide degree of buffering that compensates for the 30fps engine. This means combos can be put together without an execution barrier seen in Capcom's DMCs. I played on the hard setting and I can't say it was anywhere near as hard as what I'm used to, but the end of it is this game will appeal to people who probably didn't climb 30 levels of Bloody Palace.
The Devil Bringer-like move was natural with all the time I put in DMC4, the reverse version of the move was strange, though I liken it to an alternative dodge. There seems to be two dodge buttons, and an air dodge which is kinda cool. There is no taunt button. It was alright. Hardly DMC but as I said this isn't for guys like me. It is a decent entry level combat engine for people who are new to action games. It is certainly better than Ninja Gaiden 3, though not in the league of Bayonetta or DMC3/4 in terms of combat gameplay. Lots of platform stuff, though, people like that. |

Tried it, was wondering why you guys weren't pleased and the game is alright in some ways but not really 'all that'. I don't mind his younger look and I liked the intro and the whole realistic take on our current events by using an anonymous leader/protester but the gameplay is way too slow for DMC.

Beating the game unlocks a semi-Classic Dante look while Capcom announces the actual Dante Classic skin (and 2 others) will be arriving as a DLC pack on January 30th for 320 MS points ($4 PSN).

Bought it because I felt it was worth the £12.79 I saw it at for the glorious PC master race 60FPS version. Gonna get on it this weekend.
