Shows that got cancelled without a real ending
 

I'll give the obvious - Firefly

In reality, the show wasn't given a real CHANCE, let alone a real ending. The network aired episodes out of order, and didn't even show the last couple episodes of the season. Was written out completely for 7 seasons if I recall correctly. I suppose the movie could suffice as an ending, but the show itself didn't have a real ending.

I actually thought King of the Hill had a finale and it pretty much wrapped the show up.

I was pissed My Name Is Earl got cancelled.

I thought it was doing good.

Wonder Years' ending scene was the perfect ending for that show

Actually I like the finally to king of the hill. It brought a tear to my eye King of the Hill I watched from episode 1 to the last. I really liked the show when all the other shows on Fox started following the Family Guy formula. King of the Hill remained itself and I think that is one of the reasons it got canned was because they refused to turn it into a screwball comedy like Family Guy and Seth MacFarlane is dominating Fox with all the Family guy Spin offs.


The Cleveland show is not good at all.

Angel had an amazing ending, the fuck you talking about.

John Doe and Surface come to mind.

Seriously. That cliffhanger too. Really want to know what the hell was going to happen after that.

I'll add Pushing Daisies to the list. It kind of got a tacked on ending that felt really forced, and many plotlines were never resolved.

Serenity wrapped it up, but the show was cancelled before even the season finale aired. I also feel Req's nerdrage, since the show's first episode was not played initially and the premiere ran along side the World Series or one of the other big events Fox runs, so most of the affiliates didn't even pick the show up.

I'll personally add True Calling to the list, Fox renewed it for a second season, then cancelled it during the shooting of the 6th episode, they gave them time to finish filming it though but it still sucks to know that her father is working the Jason Priestly as the villian.

Freaks and Geeks could have/should have kept going.

Yeah, I'm not such a big fan of the Angel ending either. A lot of people do think it is "brilliant" though.

ReBoot ended on a cliffhanger.

Hear, Hear! It was doing more than decent in ratings and critique reviews, still not sure why it got cancelled. What did the network replace it with, anyone remember?

Nah, Dick Wolf tried to either get a TV movie or get the series on a new network for a final season but was unsuccessful.

Hopefully the characters get some kind of farewell on SVU or L&O:LA

Dollhouse Season 2? It didn't last either.

Wasn't really an ending per say. They just showed this whole plan by Angel leading up to the end and then it's obvious that there's more but we don't get to see any of it. I was really disappointed when they canceled it.

Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis didn't have real endings either. Both were just left with an open ending.

Yeah. Loved that show. Season 3 was Awesome. Then years later they made those two movies... but ended the second one in a freaking cliffhanger.

I've heard for years about a reboot of ReBoot in movie form, but so far I don't think anything has happened.

Anything they do wouldn't be the same without Megabyte though.

The tv show Las Vegas never got a proper ending just a big cliffhanger. They have always talked about doing a 2 hour movie to end it right but that hasnt happened yet

Angel was carried on in comic form, which chronicles what happens after the TV series ended. Gunn became a vampire, Wes returns as a ghost, etc etc.

Fucking HATE that it got cancelled.

A boring arsed series that was cancelled after one season, but it got no real ending.

Angel's series finale was great. Way better then Buffy's.

There's more to the ending of a show than the final scene. The entire episode was pitch perfect. It was alternately touching, sad, funny, and badass, just like the rest of the series.

How do you deal with that battle in one or 2 episodes? There's 2 ways it can end. Either Angel and Co. come out on top and "hell is destroyed" and everyone lives happily ever after, or Hell wins and everyone dies. The former ending would be the complete opposite tone of the rest of the series, and the latter ending would just be depressing as fuck. The series went out making the main thrust of the show, these characters' ongoing battle against evil for redemption, literal. They went down swinging, and I was happy.

And in any case, if you wanna see the aftermath, go read the Angel: After The Fall comic series.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Just ended with the search for the real Mary Jane.

The Black Donnellys.

Couldn't really compete with The Sopranos and it had a lousy time slot. Although it did give us our first look at Olivia Wilde.

The Black Donellys was one season, and it sucked.

The scene when Spike is at a bar and is getting drunk (appearing to get ready for a rumble with anybody who wants a fight), and the next moment he is on stage reciting poetry; cracked me up.

I liked the Angel: After the Fall series, but the continuing Angel comics after that have been pretty lame.

We were pretty upset that Life was cancelled. It ended on a cliffhanger.

Other than that, I can't remember any other shows that we were upset due to the cancellation of. My wife was upset Dollhouse was canned.

I, too, loved this show. I think there was a website continuing it as a comic but sure, wouldn't matter to me anyway as I have every episode and both movies, and even if I didnt, Teletoon Retro in Canada airs it. Was pissed that the second movie ended on a cliffhanger myself.

Yep because of shows like Invasion and FlashFoward I'm not getting sucked into another series like those such as The Event cuz I know it will get cancelled in a similar fashion.
